Sigh... you know what's amazing about being on the power play? You have an extra guy they can't cover man to man... so it helps to not skate the puck directly to one of your own guy so that one defender can cover you both.

The team has very little identity. They aren’t a technical team, talented in interesting ways. They also aren’t a team of bruisers, muscling through things. That leaves mid-level grinding - but they play so carefully in the offensive zone and are so hesitant when they have an advantage or try to be so perfect when they have any opening that they basically do their opponent’s work for them.

The scariest thing is that this team looks similar to the end of both the Julien and Cassidy eras: not particularly good in the offensive zone, and slower than Mac Jones reading a defence. Nothing flows, nothing’s spontaneous, it’s a lot of getting the puck, looking around for a second or two, then doing something.
