I tried with my initials, BL, but other than Bill Lee, Bob Lemon, Brad Lidge, Brett Lawrie, and Barry Larkin, there's not much to work with.

SS - Ken Hamlin: -1.6
LF - Ken Henderson: 14.8
CF - Ken Hunt: -0.7

edited per subsequent posts! Forgot Camilli!!

Ha HA, snuck in with the 30th out of the 30 most common initials. Have to say, pretty impressed by this squad. Plenty of Gold Gloves, an MVP, two Cy Youngs, some all stars. Not a great bullpen but other than that feeling good.

C - Del Crandall (11x All Star, 4 Gold Gloves!)
1B - Dolph Camilli (1941 MVP, massive season with Dodgers with 34 HR and 120 RBI, probably our cleanup hitter)
2B - Dave Cash (3x All Star, great defense and solid hitter, 120 career SBs and ~.350 OBP at his peak probably makes him our leadoff hitter)
3B - Dewey Creacy (Negro League star!)
SS - Dave Concepcion (5 Gold Gloves!)
LF - Darnell Coles (UT journeyman who played 120+ games here, 102 OPS+)
CF - Doc Cramer - strong up the middle!
RF - Dylan Carlson (one of the best prospects in MLB, looks like he's going to be a cornerstone of Cards for a long time)
DH - Donn Clendendon (WS MVP, 117 OPS+)
Bench: Danny Cater (1968 version)
Bench: Davey Crockett (hit .280 in 1901, name makes him a lock)

SP1 - David Cone (61 WAR, 5 World Series, 1 Cy Young)
SP2 - Dean Chance (Cy Young winner in '64, lost to the Sox & Longborg in '67)
SP3 - Dylan Cease (promising young starter for the White Sox, bet he looks better after 2022/2023 seasons, he's going to be good)
SP4 - Dad Clarke (started 70 games for the 1895 and 1896 NY Giants -- rubber arm!)
SP5 - Ugh... Daniel Cabrera (6 career WAR, and the best two words a Red Sox hitter could hear when he was throwing for the Orioles)

CL - Doug Corbett (solid closer for the Twins in 80/81)
Fireman - Diego Castillo (thrilled that Castillo's upper 90s heat and filthy slider are no longer in the AL East)
RP - DJ Carrasco (perfectly cromulent career 99 ERA+ -- textbook definition in my mind of an average bullpen arm)

The Sticks
My team has some real star potential (five actual all-stars), but the choices at 1B were surprisingly slim (the backup would have to be Tub Welch of the 1890 Toledo Maumees and the 1895 Louisville Colonels). We will definitely hit some--that guy in LF is pretty good.

C: Tony Wolters
1B: Tyler White
2B: Todd Walker
SS: Tony Womack*
3B: Tim Wallach*
LF: Ted Williams*
CF: Tillie Walker
RF: Taffy Wright
DH: Terry Whitfield (I've run out of decent hitters)
P: Tim Wakefield*
RP: Todd Worrell*
RP: Tim Worrell
RP: Turk Wendell
Mgr: Ted Williams (of course)
Bench Coach: (vacant)
I had the same, except I had added Taijuan Walker and Ted Wilks as #2 and #3 starters.

And I have the bench coach as Tim Wallach, since he's already there.

Nine guys in league history, none of which I have ever heard of, and none of whom were born after the 1940's. Not good.
I have just a handful too. I may do it with my SOSH handle, but I'm not sure if I go with D.D. or D.B. and if I go with D.D. I can't actually use Denny Doyle because he wasn't actually a Denny so the whole thing sucks.

Couldn't quite fill the dugout.

The talent for BZ is pretty seriously underwhelming...

C - Bill Zies. Per BBRef, Bats Left and Throws Unknown, which seems about right. 3 lifetime AB (and a hit!) for the 1891 Browns.
C - Bart Zeller, 1 game and no ABs for the 1970 Cardinals
1B - Bud Zipfel, -1.2 WAR in 2 partial seasons for the 1961-62 Senators... but 10 career HR so he's hitting clean-up in this line-up.
2B - Benny Zientara, 0.7 WAR for the Reds between 1941-48, which included a four-year hiatus in the military.
3B -
SS - Ben Zobrist, our captain with 44.5 career WAR with the Rays and Cubs. 3 All-Star games, and he made a shit-ton of money. Utility man supreme, which is good because he has to play 3B too.
OF - Bill Zimmerman, -0.2 WAR for the 1915 Brooklyn Robins.
OF - Bob Zupcic -- -0.7 career WAR and 74 OPS+. He fits right in.
OF -
P - Barry Zito -- our ace! 31.9 career WAR for the A's/Giants, 5 All-Star appearances.
P - Bruce Zimmerman, apparently started 13 games for the Orioles last year. Probably the best Zimmerman on the BZ squad.
P - Bill Zepp, 10-5 lifetime record, 9-4 of which occurred with the 1970 Twins. 0.8 WAR
P - Bill Zinser, -0.3 WAR and a smooth 9.0 WHIP in two games for the 1944 Senators.
P - Bill Zuber, 11 year career spanning the 40s, so didn't join Zientara in the military. Won a game in his last year, with the 1947 Red Sox.
RP - Brad Ziegler -- Not bad... 13.4 career WAR and 105 saves, including 4 for the 2016 Red Sox
PR - Bob Zick, listed by BBREF as "Pitcher and Pinch Runner". -0.4 WAR and lifetime ERA+ of 52

Edit: Added Zupcic for posterity. Hat tip @nayrbrey

Ha HA, snuck in with the 30th out of the 30 most common initials and... the options are not great. But my defense is oddly outstanding. We're trying to win a lot of 2-1 games. Will fill out later, but solid start here.

What about Danny Cater for 1B?

Zuber was an Amana colonist (strictly religious conservative), so I think he was a conscientious observer. The Amana weren't even allowed to play sports until Zuber was in his early teens. He later tried out for minor league manager Casey Stengel in Toledo. Zuber couldn't find the plate, but Stengel was impressed enough to send legendary scout Cy Slapnicka to Iowa to get another look. Slapnicka found Zuber in a field and asked him to pick up an onion and hit a nearby barn. Zuber threw the onion over the barn and Slapnicka signed him… which I guess means he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn, but he had a hell of an arm.

Our 1B tryout process was pretty binary -- you were either named Davey Crockett or you weren't. But Cater is definitely on the team. Probably a DH, maybe his 1967 season when he finished 2nd to Yaz in batting average (at .290)?

Not my initials but I stumped across someone named The Only Nolan. Is The his first name?
Actual name is Ed Sylvester Nolan. I guess we can let the "SN" guy have him based on that middle name.

Nolan received his nickname in 1878. In that era, "the only" was a common term used to describe anyone who excelled at something. Upon joining the NL, the Blues team publicized themselves by referring to their main pitcher Nolan as "The Only Nolan"
He threw an underhanded fastball.

He should be an honorary SoSH member--he got kicked off his team when he said he had to go to a funeral and instead went drinking.

Fake edit: I originally was going to post this in P&G but there's a lockout and there's nothing going on, so let's do something dumb.

Sometimes it's difficult to go to sleep. So to wind myself down, I'll try to think of an All-Star team made up of players with just my initials.

C: Brian McCann
1B: ??? (maybe I'll play there)
2B: Bill Mazeroski
SS: Bobby Meachum
3B: Bill Mueller
OF: Bobby Murcer
OF: Bake McBride
OF: Brian McCrae
DH: Bill Madlock
P: Ben McDonald
RP: Brett Myers
Mgr: Billy Martin (not happy about this)
Bench coach: Brad Mills

There are a ton of BM catchers: Buck Martinez, Brent Mayne, Bob Montgomery and some more pitchers Bob Milacki, Bob McClure among others.

What do you have?
I’ve got the same initials. Put Bill Melton at first.

Not bad overall, two HOFers* on the field plus the manager. I had to get BROCK HOLT! in there.

When looking through my list I realized the Sox must hold the record for most guys named Butch in a franchise - Henry, Hobson and Huskey.

C Bubbles Hargrave 16.6
1B Babe Herman 39.4
2B BROCK HOLT! 8.2
3b Billy Herman* 57.4
SS Bill Hinchman 13.7
OF Billy Hamilton* (not that one) 63.2
OF Bobby Higginson 23.4
OF Bryce Harper 40.1
DH Bob Horner 21.9
PR Billy Hamilton (yes, that one) 10.1
SP Bill Hands 27.4
SP Bruce Hurst 34.1
SP Bump Hadley 35.1
SP Burt Hooton 35.6
RP Brad Hand 6.7

Fun exercise! I even found my dad in B-R! (Well, not MY dad, but a guy with my dad's name.)
I used tim's technique to find the 33 MLBers who've had my initials, then looked at all their pages to scout for my team.

SP - RHP Don Newcombe (39.5 WAR over 12 seasons, 1944-60)
SP - LHP Denny Neagle (22.4 over 13, 1991-2003)
SP - LHP Doc Newton (9.7 over 8, 1900-09)
SP - RHP Don Nottebart (9.3 over 9, 1960-69)
SP - RHP Dick Newsome (-1.1 over 3, 1941-43) Played all three of his MLB seasons with the Red Sox. Went 19-10 in 1941 with 2 shutouts and 17 complete games. His WAR that season was only 1.1 with an ERA of 4.13 (ERA+ 101) over 213 innings. But he finished 9th in MVP voting!
RP - RHP Don Newhauser (1.3 over 3, 1972-74). Played all three of his seasons with the early 70s Red Sox. Went 4-2 with 4 saves in 31 games pitched in 1972 with a 2.43 ERA (134 ERA+).

C - Derek Norris (8.8 over 6, 2012-17) Catcher is the best field position for my initials, with three decent choices. The other two will also show up in my line-up.
1B - Dave Nilsson (10.6 over 8, 1992-99) Another catcher, who also played OF and 1B. Spent his entire career with the Brewers, the first six years in the AL, the last two in the NL.
2B - David Newhan (0.8 over 8, 1999-2008) Played with five teams over eight years, most notably three years with the Orioles from 2004-06. His best year was 2004, with a 113 OPS in 412 PA. More OF than 2B, but I need a 2B, so he goes here.
3B - Dave Nelson (5.1 over 10, 1968-77) Knocked around the AL for 8 years as a 2B/3B, mostly with the Washington Senators/Texas Rangers. Was an All-Star with the Rangers in 1973 and even picked up some down-ballot MVP votes (finished 33rd). Had 43 steals that year (against 16 cs) and no other stats that stand out (.286/.325/.378).
SS - Don Nicholas (0.0 with 3 PA over two seasons, 1952-54) OK, his numbers don't rate. In his two non-consecutive seasons with the White Sox, he went 0-2 with 1 BB in 3 PH appearances, and scored 3 runs in 7 PR appearances. He was also caught stealing in his lone attempt. But dammit, this guy has my dad's name, so he's on my team! And though he didn't play SS at the MLB level, he did play it in the minors (not well, but he played it).
OF - Daniel Nava (8.4 over 7, 2010-17) We all know who he is. I always liked him. Had a much better career than most of the other DNs.
OF - Donell Nixon (1.4 over 4, 1987-90) The younger brother of Otis Nixon earned most of his career WAR in 1988 with a 138 OPS+ in 89 PA with the Giants.
OF - Dave Nicholson (0.5 over 7, 1960-67) As a 23-year-old third year player in 1963 he led the league in strikeouts with 175, but still managed to put up a 107 OPS+. Had his career year in 1966 with the Astros with a 120 OPS+ in 333 PA. Also had 11 outfield assists that year. After playing 10 games for the Braves as a 27-year-old in 1967 he was out of baseball.
DH - Dioner Navarro (7.1 over 13, 2004-16) My third quality catcher gets to rest his knees and mash. Played with seven teams in his 13-year career; the most with one team were his five years with the Devil Rays/Rays from 2006-10 which included his lone All-Star season (2008 -- that year he was great against the White Sox in the ALDS (1.038 OPS) and good against the Phillies in the WS (.801 OPS) but lousy against the Red Sox in the ALCS (.442), which is nice). Had his best offensive year in 2013 with the Cubs when he put up a 134 OPS+ over 266 PA.

Same initials here. I was going to propose we have Pedro throw every inning and Molitor take every at-bat.

I scanned the BR page to try to find any other PM players with double-digit WAR accumulation; thus I'll add Paul Minner and Pat Malone to our rotation. (I had only gotten to them, Pedro, Molitor, Mullin, Masi, and Pepper before reading the rest of the thread and finding your post.)

Being one of the largest initial groups in MLB, we're fortunate enough to have 4 MVPs and 6 HOFers, with 1 HOFer on the bench. It's a very right-handed pitching staff, however.

With a quick look this seems to be the best of the best for me. Not a whole lot of A&Ls to pick from. Certainly not enough that I'm going to do a deep dive into unfamiliar names to suss out what positions they played
I'm an A.L. too...so thank you for sparing me the trouble of trying to come up with a list.

I really dislike Al Leiter.
