Dissapointed.    Mostly dissapointed they couldn't get a pick in 2015,  I'd have preferred even a 7th in 2015 over this

I'm shocked we could get anything of value for him.  His reported asking price is 5M per year.  He showed flashes but his game to game consistency left a lot to be desired.  This must mean COL has a trade in place for ROR who is asking for 7.5 over 8yrs.

Probably a decent amount. The stats crowds seems to love him but I just don't see him being anything more than a lower-tier second line or decent third line center.

Tweener 2nd liner? Because he's a great 3rd line center. For 5m he's not great value though. Inconsistent too.

I'm very happy with the 6th because I didn't expect anything for him.

@reporterchris: That's big money for Carl Soderberg. $23.75-million over five years from #avs. It's good to be a free agent.
Wow the free agent market is going to be crazy. Soderberg just got nearly 5 million per year.

Strange as every indication was he'd sign a 3 year deal max then head back to Sweden.

Granted, he's in the state where he can get his eye medicine :fonz:

Good bye ROR, wonder what they will get for him knowing he is looking for 8/60.

I don't love the deal, but I'd rather have that deal than Krejci's.

at 5v5 last 2 years: Krejci: 1.85 p/60, 51.85 CF%, 102.9 PDO, $7.25m hit
Carl: 1.81 p/60, 52.37 CF%, 101.8 PDO, $4.75m hit

Krejci is 6 months younger. Though I think playing with Eriksson helped Carl a lot.

In fairness to Krejci he wasn't himself last year after the injury.  I also agree Loui was really the catalyst to that line.  Really hoping this means the Loui-Bergy-Marchand line comes to fruition.  They just seem like the perfect shut down combination who are also all going to chip in 20-25 goals.

Let's not mince words, taking the last two years for Krejci is just cherry-picking.  He played slightly more than half a season last year due to the hip injury in the first half and the leg injury in the second half.  His career average CF% is 53.3 and his career points/60 mins is about .4 points higher than Soderberg's.  The comparison also ignores quality of competition and zone starts.  Krejci is also much better on faceoffs.

Krejci's deal might not be a good one anymore if the leg injuries permanently affect his game, but that remains to be seen and I wouldn't use last year's stats to make the pronouncement.

Insanity. Paying Soderberg that much, and giving him a NTC on top of it, is horrible value.

And I agree with TSoYRRA, cherry picking the last two years is statistical torture at it's finest.

Eh in the other Soderberg thread I posted a 1 and 3 year cut of the same numbers and they weren't that much friendlier to Krejci. Also guys start to decline around age 26-28, so Krejci's early numbers probably mean less and less. It's a bad contract. But he's the core!

And you were refuted by multiple poster, including myself, that again you were cherry picking data in an attempt to be "fair".

You have to measure Krejci as a whole, not just cherry pick numbers to fit your argument.

Seriously, did you watch Soderberg the last two months? He was AWFUL.
