Guys. Guys! Maybe cool your jets. I mean, I'm as psyched as anybody, but we're now TWO WEEKS BEHIND everybody prepping for free agency and the draft. A little perspective, please.

I remember being super drunk in the hot tub with my wife in a hot tub in park city watching the Lions trounce the Pats earlier this year.

My wife and I were in a really bad place and took a vacation to try and remedy our marriage of ten years. It temporarily worked but the vacation ended about as bad as one can without someone dying.

But I remember thinking that maybe this was the cliff year. For the Pats and my marriage.

Fast forward several months and the marriage is good and the Pats are champions.

No it was one of the lesser knowns. Can't remember for sure but I think Alan Reimer?
Yep, Alex Reimer. The token gay guy in the Boston Sports Radio scene. Has had more than a couple very controversial moments in his first year or two on the radio resulting in public mea culpas (including outing one of his own colleagues as an alcoholic), which is probably why he's still on the radio, because I think he's pretty terrible all things considered.

It’s nice to have the defense shoulder most of the credit of one of these wins.

It’s also nice to be well on the right side of injury luck at the end of the year, after several seasons were derailed solely due to that. Goff was exposed without Gurley and Kupp.

Leading Sports Moralist Ian O'Connor throws in the towel and admits Pats are the best dynasty in American sports:

It's time for the nation to embrace the non-debate. The Patriots' dynasty is the greatest in the history of American sports, college or pro, and the contempt for it outside Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Connecticut should be eliminated along with the Rams.
Notable change in tone from his deflategate pieces calling for Brady to confess his wrongdoings and throw himself upon the mercy of public forgiveness. More seriously, though: O'Connor is one of those journalists who flows whichever way public opinion is blowing, so this stance suggests that the national narrative on the Pats is starting to collapse into one of begrudging admiration.

The first time they won I was an eighteen year old kid just out of high school, and I drove downtown to revel in the chaos after we won. This year I stuffed my face with a seven year old who, for the first time, stayed up late for every game and jumped on me as the clock ran out last night.

Spoiled doesn't begin to describe it.

Youngest son comes walking down for breakfast this AM.

Mrs TW looks at the boy and said “You shouldn’t sleep in that jersey. You know we can’t wash it because it takes the mojo away.”

It’s a good day.

Highlights from Manhattan work colleagues:

“That was a really boring game”

“Brady got bailed out by Belichick yet again”

“I didn’t even watch”

“Edelman got suspended for PEDs and is a cheater like Brady”

“So sick of you guys”

I gave up on the NFL after Deflategate and haven't watched a game sense - but still very happy Brady + BB won another title.

People know I'm a Boston sports fan so this morning had a coworker tell me that I shouldn't be too happy because they're only winning because Brady and BB and once they retire they'll go back to sucking.

So yes they're winning because two people so it isn't that big of a deal.

I have to give fans of other NFL teams credit. I would have stopped watching football ten years ago if the Jets or Dolphins had done this.

If there really are infinite universes, then somewhere there is a world where the Jets just won their 6th Super Bowl in 18 years. In that world, I was watching a movie last night.

So many reasons to want just one more next year:

Break tie with Steelers to become the Super Bowl winningest franchise.

Belichik breaks tie with Halas and Lambeau to become coach with most championships.

Tie Buffalo for most consecutive Super Bowl appearances, except without the losing-every-one-of-them baggage.

Brady/Belichik make it a nice even 10 for Super Bowl appearances.

Brady > Jordan.

Then all they have to do is just win one more after that to break tie with Buffalo and become first team to win three consecutive. I discount no possibilities anymore.

Who do we have the Pats opening against next year? A few good choices—Steelers, Cowboys, and KC. I imagine it might be KC, but that’d make a good Sunday or Monday night game, too

Just as an FYI, I wanted to check if the Patriots had any videos up on YouTube but it looks like the Patriots' YouTube channel is currently banned for too many violations of the TOS…

My father-in-law has spent his entire life in Pittsburgh, loves the Steelers.

He was there with me rooting for the Patriots last night, because (he said) of how incredibly efficient and professional they are - he considers the Steelers a mess, organizationally, and says they need to win him back over. Meanwhile, the Patriots are everything you could ask for in terms of a first-class organization, says they're a model other teams should follow and how could you not root for a team that does everything the right way.

Love of Belichick conquers all.

2 things that flip flip more than a breakfast special at IHOP: Ian O'Connor and Manish Mehta, front-runners extraordinaire.
I don't think Ian O'Connor flip flops as much as he just churns out enough material to simultaneously take every side imaginable. His content-to-insight ratio is unchartable. He's basically a computer program that generates baseless drivel that can be attached to a clickbait headline.

How prepared were the Patriots during their postseason run? In the combined first halves against the Chargers, Chiefs and Rams, NE owned a 52-11 advantage in first downs and a 787-217 advantage in total yards.

No idea where best to put this, but upcoming three-hour rebroadcasts of SBLIII on NFLN are scheduled for 1pm and 8 pm today, 3am tomorrow (and no doubt many other times beyond those). All times Eastern.

Saw this on Reddit: the Patriots were ranked 7th in DVOA at the end of the season. They beat the #1, #2, and #3 teams in the postseason en route to their 6th SB.

As to the last point: A friend and co-worker who is a Jets fan (but defintely not an asshole) put it this way (paraphrasing): "Past 2 SB wins (Seattle and Atlanta) you could say that the other team tripped on their own dicks to a large enough extent to give Jet fans smug comfort. And there was McNabb puking. But this year, they crushed, to varying degrees, 3 dominant teams -- SD, KC and LA -- in a row. There is nothing any sane fan can manufacture to discredit *that*."

He bought me a cup of coffee.
