The Texas/Arky game should be a lot of fun. Piggy hatred of Texas knows no bounds and the atmosphere should be nuts. We’ve beaten the Hogs in some amazing games in Fayetteville so I am expecting a very intense one.

I hope the Hogs make it a game!

We were supposed to be at this game (like we were suppsed to go to Notre Dame last year) but covid and all. Next year we're on to Provo for sure though!

Woo Pig!

Is Arkansas expected to be better than they have been recently?

I realize Texas might be overrated at #15, but I’m surprised they aren’t a double-digit favorite over Arkansas, even at Fayetteville. The Razorbacks have a storied history but have finished last in the SEC West each of the past four seasons and haven’t been to a bowl game since 2016.

Second year for Pittman as the HC. After last year not really sure what to expect. New QB. Beefed up O-line. One of the best receivers in the SEC, but he's been hurt. The game last Saturday was streaming only. Who the fuck knows.
I'm just looking forward to a good game against a long time rival.

God I wish I was going to be in Fayettenam Saturday night. The pigs will be riled up.

I think Lafayette is a better team than this Arkansas team (the Chad Morris years are still wrecking them, though Pittman will get them sorted soon enough I think). But on the road, with a freshman QB, will be a challenge for Texas.

Arkansas and Rice were tied in the 4th ... but first game and all so who knows.

Yup, They even opened up the SRO area which they practically never do.

It's their first sellout in forever, apparently. Which makes sense.

From what I understand though, pig has changed a lot from the 80s and early 90s when I have memories of the game. The school now has a ton of Texas kids there, whereas back then was all Arkansas people essentially. Maybe won't be quite so frightening as back in the day.

You can thank Sam Walton for that.

I would just like to thank @Awesome Fossum for starting back-to-back CFB game threads in which the OP just gives us for each game the names of the schools, the starting time, the lines and the TV channel. (And nothing else.)
Man do I violently disagree. The nicknames, pageantry, and quirkiness are such a huge part of college football. To each their own.

I didn't mean to usurp Ale Xander; I'm just chomping at the bit for college football. I actually love the petty nicknames, although I do think the opening post ought to be accessible for everyone.

Just saw this on the schedule:

Saturday, September 11
12:00 Kennesaw State at Georgia Tech, ESPN3

It would be so, so delicious to see Kennesaw's option offense drop Georgia Tech after the way their fans moronically turned on Paul Johnson. I hope the Owls run for 500 yards.

Thank you for starting all 3 of the threads. My left side of the brain actually agrees with you but it’s usually not the dominant one, hah! No problem at all. Keep em coming! I’m chomping at the bit myself, certainly post-week zero.

According to Wikipedia Saturday is a big day in Texas and SEC history:

"Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium is an American football stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas[7] and serves as the home field of the University of Arkansas Razorbacks football team since its opening in 1938. The stadium was formerly known as Razorback Stadium since 1941 before being renamed in 2001 in honor of Donald W. Reynolds, an American businessman and philanthropist. The playing field in the stadium is named the Frank Broyles Field, honoring former Arkansas head football coach and athletic director Frank Broyles.[8] On September 11, 2021, Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium became the birth place of The University of Texas Longhorns reign over the Southeastern Conference."

Typical of a Texas grad to use the wrong tense.

My favorite win I experienced was the 2008 asskicking (52-10 and it wasn’t that close) that led pig from backing out of the 2009 agreement, citing A&M’s move to the SEC as the reason.

Somehow I've been fortunate to have only seen Hog wins against UT (3-0, all in a row in Little Rock, then Dallas, then Austin). Seen the Hogs lose a LOT otherwise though.

Sorry to all other SOSHers that this weeks thread is a basically a UT-pig thread. It’s actually my 2nd favorite rivalry and I respect their program cause they were competitive in the past, unlike A&M. It doesn’t mean as much to current students I’m sure, but anyone who grew up in the SWC days it’s a special matchup.
