Contact sport, not having your backup ready etc. I know you know this but we all root for teams that have had a key guy go out and the team implode after. It's just part of the game. Plus Iowa's taken advantage which is due to their players making plays not Clifford being out.
Come on.. they’ve had a short field all game.. ‘taking advantage’ ok I guess that true.. this Iowa team gets smoked by the rest of the top ten.. they’re not good.. they’ve played nobody and they gave nobody else on their schedule.. they don’t play OSU, Michigan, or MSU.. they’re out of conference schedule is equally light.

They were losing 17-3 when he got hurt. Iowa has had the PSU D on the field now for three quarters of the game because Penn State’s backup isn’t nearly as good. Clifford was shredding this D.
He was 15-25 for 146 yards and 2 picks. He wasn't exactly shredding.
Having said that, the offense with this kid couldn't score a TD if they were on the field with no defense.

They have beaten 3 top 20 teams YTD, including the #4.

Why are you so mad?

That's an early kneel-down. You should still be trying to get a first down IMO.

That entire sequence by Iowa should result in them losing. A stupid INT. A ridiculous celebration. Instead of the ball inside the 10, they get it on the 40. And then they kneel and risk the punt.

Ha.. Indiana and Iowa state? Ok. And yes they are bearing a number 4 team that has had to play a backup for three quarters.

Are you saying those teams weren't ranked?

Iowa has literally beaten 3 top 20 teams, including the #4. You said they have played nobody. That is objectively false.

After they, legally, knocked out the starter. Anyway I get it. If this happens to Michigan tonight I'll be just as mad.

Hey, I'm a Penn State fan. I guess I just have a different definition of shredding.
I don't disagree that Penn State would be winning if he hadn't got hurt because this kid has been atrocious,
The first int was bad.. the second was a nice play.. Clifford was moving the ball easily against this D.. they had two Tds on the first and a near miss right at the beginning of the second. The D got gassed cause they had to play the rest of the game.. otherwise this Iowa team doesn’t score more that 10 or 17

Indiana was 17.. ok Iowa state was 9.. and relax with them beating #4.. yes we know they won, but we also know why they were even in the game let alone won.

I really don't understand why you're arguing with me, but if it helps your anger, I'm here for you.

They guy drove him to the ground.. but yeah probably legal.. I’m pissed because I went to PSU and there schedule is absolutely ridiculous.. and this game isn’t close if Clifford doesn’t get hurt.. oh well.

Back off, everyone. I don’t need indignant sermoning in what is essentially for me a game-day thread. This may come as a shock to everyone, but fans in the heat of the moment say irrational things. Sucks they lost Clifford but that’s college football. Also, that’s the price of a few down years of recruiting and the unfortunate part of the transfer portal (losing Levis to Kentucky). Oh well.

PSU should even have a program
I apologize if this is more V&N, but I’m as sick of hearing this shit as I am my sister and BIL (both PSU grads) looking at me like I have 3-heads because I don’t think putting up the statue of Paterno is appropriate.

After what has been revealed at other colleges since 2011 you really think Penn State is an outlier? You are reactionary and gullible as fuck, and people with your mindset are the reason monsters at universities and religious institutions will continue to abuse students, women, and children. I believed PSU was unique, then Larry Nassar happened. After that Baylor. Then Richard Strauss at OSU. Now we have Robert Anderson at Michigan. I’m probably missing a half-dozen others. Everyone piled on PSU, rightfully, but could never look passed Sandusky and Paterno to the truly fucked world we live in and need to confront if we are to stop these abuses.

Yeah hell of a play to tip the ball track it on the way home and secure it when his teammate also tried to catch it. To quote my nephew "Daxton is a baller" :) Would have liked to see them put up 7 but the Nebraska D is feeling the sellout home crowd so far. See if Michigan can wear them down.

I blame the transfer portal. Will Levis was a really good backup to Clifford, probably a better player, certainly a stronger runner and physical stud. He transferred to Kentucky where he is starting for 5-0 team ranked 16th in the country. Roberson was in there today because Levis transferred out.

Teams have to plan for that. Tanner Mordecai transferred out of OU; OU picked up Caleb Williams. When Rattler got rattled today, Williams was able to step in and take control.

Gotcha. I'm watching Levis now. Yeah, he's really good

The refs in Nebraska were so confused by the non-penalty they called (and then picked up) that they forgot where they spotted the ball. Just incredibly incompetent.
