Why do you think he's worshipped there? He was there 4 years and compiled a 20-26 record.
It is a bit silly, but he’s in their Ring Of Honor, the Captain Comeback mantra had staying power. Got them to ‘96 AFC Championship game. Went to a game there in October, they still sell his jerseys. Extremely popular in Indy.
The power of a narrative and a good nickname. He is very much loved in Indy.
Well damn, I stand corrected. Other than the '96 run, he had much more success in Chicago, and no one gives him a second thought here.
