What a home run hire Fran Brown has been.
Their three losses were a close game to BC , a two point loss to Stanford (yuck), and the inexplicable blowout loss to Pitt when McCord threw five interceptions, three of which were pick sixes.

A QB is down when he starts the slide, right? If so Ewers should’ve been ruled down.
I interpreted that as the knee hitting is the ‘start’ and thus the spot. and not where the QB slides to a stop 3-5 yards later. But just going into the motion is not the ‘start.’

Totally don't want to run the play action to a likely wide open receiver in the EZ there, no sir. Good job Aggies.

Is anyone watching this BYU / Houston game? Is that the shocker symbol on Houston's QB's chin strap? I assume it is claiming to be something else? Anyone know what?

I didn't see it, but I'm sure it's UH's hand sign.

Here's Google AI's explanation:

The hand sign for the University of Houston (UH) is the "Cougar sign," which is made by folding the ring finger and thumb of the right hand toward the palm. The sign originated in 1953 when Shasta I, the UH mascot, lost a toe in a cage door while traveling to a game. The opposing team, the University of Texas, mocked the injury by making the sign during the game. UH students adopted the sign as a symbol of pride and perseverance.

I think SC is in before them perhaps. If Bama is in the team playing them has a great draw.
Same record, Bama beat SC head-to-head.

I think they’re both out, but if it’s down to the two of them for the 12th spot, Bama will get the nod.

Bama will be in because of what I said up above about brand and ratings. Let’s not fool ourselves into thinking any of this will be truly on some sense of merit before the games are played.

If it was based on merit, Bama would be in as the 4th-best SEC team, along with 4 B1G teams, Notre Dame, Boise State, and the ACC and B12 champions. But we’re getting at least two ACC teams, possibly three. Bama is the first casualty of that. (Indiana could be the second if Clemson beats SMU narrowly or in controversial fashion, but I think Indiana probably gets the nod over SMU in that case.)

I have no idea what you are using as “merit”. In a world of unbalanced schedules and over expansion records should be the determining factor. You somehow think the SEC is the best conference and I think it’s an average conference with a bunch of above average teams that have beaten each other.

You are speaking with waaay too much definitiveness about merit here. From my perspective at some point losses matter and you lose 3 games and you’re out. ACC deserves one team this year.

If 3 loss teams are out and the ACC only deserves one, who the heck is getting in?

I agree — the ACC deserves one team. Clemson and SMU should be playing for that spot. Miami should be out.
