Leaving in a bit to the studio :)
Been on with Verizon support several times now, and their final decision is to blame Apple (which I dont really buy):

Last weekend, my son changed the password on his verizon email sub-account.  Since that time, he's been unable to Send emails from his iPhone 5s.  All other devices can send thru that acct just fine.  I searched the web, and spent several hours triple checking Settings, deleting the email acct from his iPhone, changing the password again and again, re-booting liberally, you name it, still couldnt send emails.  I caved last night, and called Verizon support, and the tech walked me thru all the things I had already done, but still cant send emails.  His two suggestions:  upgrade to the new iOS OR I've got a broken iPhone.

So today my wife tried accessing HIS acct on her iPhone 4s, and the same issue:  cant send emails.  iPads, desktop PCs, android phones can all send, just our two iPhones cant.  All devices receive email just fine.  She called Verizon support just now, and the tech and then a supervisor dragged her thru the same paces as yesterday, with the final suggestion that's it an issue with Apple that affects only OUR iphones as no one else has presented a similar problem to them on any device.  The whole time, my wife could send out emails on her verizon acct on her iPhone.  Only my son's acct has the issue.

I googled some more, and there are no reports of a similar issue anytime recent BUT if the issue just popped up recently on verizon's end AND it affects only iPhones AND only if you recently changed your verizon email password, I can understand that not many users may not have noticed the issue yet.

And no way I'm driving 30 minutes each way to the nearest Genius Bar.

Any suggestions.....?

(I took the wimp's way out and created a new email acct for him by adding a digit to his old username, and that acct sends just fine.  But we'd still like access to the old acct as a number of folks have that as his contact info)

Did you change his password back to the original one?

Why didn't you try upgrading the phone?

Changed password multiple times, sometimes back to the original.  Everytime we changed it, we confirmed that it worked on an iPad.

I've heard horror stories that the new iOS doesnt switch you from data to wifi as it should.  Tales of huge overages and data charges.

And there was not an inkling of a guarantee that would work, it was just the only other thing we hadnt tried.

FWIW, in the new update, there's a toggle in Settings > Cellular, at the bottom, "Wi-Fi Assist," to address the data issue and turn off the feature that automatically bounces you from wifi to cellular.

This started happening to me also although I did not change any passwords.

I just joined Verizon after being with AT&T for a long time. I am regretting it to a degree.
