Uconn just played their Stanley cup final. They were amped and BC was looking ahead to BU/Eichel Friday night. C'mon, it's all fun. Uconn is likely a bottom three HE team the next couple years.

But I think it's clear all of Yost's successes were simply a result of having Cavanaugh on staff. :)

I agree, I'm just expressing my indifference, not taking anything away from this.  Would've had the same reaction if they dropped one to Huntsville or something.

And I didn't know Cav was such an instrumental part in building Michigan's athletic programs in the early 20th century.  ;)

Missing this. So conflicted. The old man was BC '30, my kid is BU '18.
NBC Live Extra for the win.

Somehow the announcers missed the BU player shooting the puck at Demko post whistle, which was the reason he was going for some street justice.

Thanks, but I don't have a provider.

what an embrassing showing by the regular fans (non-students). BC Students set a record with 2950 attendance, but a solid 30% of lower level were no shows. And no noise. BU students also brought it pretty good. I guess the class of '65 or whatever just make their donation and don't show up.

As for the hockey, some real ugly goals and/or ugly giveaways. Eichel was a little too passive it seemed and his team didn't defend him from a couple cheapshots, unless those lame pretend fights were it. But boy can he skate and pass for a guy his size. Didn't look like the #2 pick regardless.  BC with 3 losses in a row, should drop out of the top 5.

What's up with all the empty seats?
was thinking that through about 2+ periods, until the shorthanded.

Flynn Fund oldies.

Can't be Celtics Pacers, right? Or maybe they just watch it at home on TV, Frankly Wertz may have had a point.

Oh and the student chants were awesome as always, in some ways better than the hockey.

We'll get you back in football. UConn has a football program, right?
Not that anyone is aware of...

I thought BU was a lot faster and more aggressive than BC, especially in the third period. Eagles maybe don't have enough skill (unlike past years) to be out worked like that. BC got out worked by uconn, too. If this was February Id be more concerned if I were a BC fan. November not so much

If a team goes to a BCS bowl in the last 10 years and BC doesn't, is it really that big of an accomplishment? I mean unless you count playing your bowl games in baseball stadiums am accomplishment.

Good job by BU. Figured this would be the ultimate trap game with the big UConn game coming up

When it's the dying Big East, no, not really.

Edit: It wouldn't have been impressive for BC if they beat Syracuse in 2004 either.

4-4 final. Good game. BU wasn't going to lose but Uconn played hard all game and had chances to win

So we are picked last in the hockey east which is understandable.
Then in 2 weeks we win at #15 QU, beat #3 BC at home and tie at #5 BU.
It's nice to see hockey back in this state.

BC drops to 8th. Everyone else in top 10 either has 7 wins, or 1 or less losses.

BU to 3rd, UML to 4th, VT to 10th. (USCHO.com)

Michigan Tech at 8-0-0 garners 2 first place votes, but is in 5th.

St Cloud State now 3-5, takes the downer of the week away from BC and ND (now UR), drops from 7 to 15,

Harvard beats BC 6-3. They also tied Union, and are now 2-0-2. Not sure if that says more about BC and Union or Harvard.

Of course they have had to kill 14 penalties already. Which they have done.

Section 41
Harvard gets their first loss of the season, at home vs. Yale on Saturday.  Game was scoreless until 6:48 in the 3rd, and no other scoring until an empty netter, and Harvard breaking the shutout with 15 seconds left.  Have killed all 21 PK's so far this season.

Through 6 games, they are getting it done on both ends of the ice, averaging 3.7 goals per game and only 1.8 allowed.  Probably their best start in a decade.  Pretty young team, with only 3 senior skaters.

Given that Minnesota lost two, and North Dakota split with Miami OH, there's probably an outside shot that BU is ranked #1 when they new rankings come out today. It will be interesting to see if Michigan Tech leapfrogs both of them as they're now 10-0.

Michigan Tech jumps from 5 to 1 (2 votes to 24). North Dakota stays at #2 (and goes from 3 votes to 12). BU stays at #3, but garnered 14 first place votes.

UML dropped from 4 to 5
BC dropped from 8 to 12
Providence from 12 to 19 in two weeks
Merrimack picked up 10 votes to just miss out on the top 20
Minnesota from 1 to 4

This is the first step to Pac-12 sponsoring hockey.  They have the cash with the TV network to do it.  It's a brilliant move.  If you were a kid, would you want to freeze your ass off in Boston/Michigan/North Dakota or still play D-1 hockey AND live it up in Tempe/Scottsdale?

No brainer...Arizona State is fully expecting other Pac12 teams to make the jump. Oregon backed by Phil Knight possibly could next. USC? UCLA? Arizona?. I mean they could be getting tons of great recruits due to the weather.

Freeze my ass off to play at Michigan.

Tech is #1. Lots of Pearson talk coming out of Ann Arbor. Unsurprisingly.

I also note that the article about ASU only mentions men's ice hockey. Won't there need to be a women's team to for Title IX compliance? Or do they already have enough extra women's things that it will work without?
