He's probably the successor, although that's ultimately a totally losing proposition.
He strikes me as a guy who loves this job, and loves working with Brady.
I agree whoever follows BB has an impossible act to follow. I also agree that he loves his job and loves working with Brady, but Brady only has a few years left himself, and we know Josh wants to be a head coach again.

So over the last few seasons one thing a lot of us get upset about is that we think other teams should respect (or whatever) the Patriots and what they accomplished and can't understand why everyone hates them so much.

I realize now, as a whole new wave of hatred is about to wash over them, that I actually enjoy it. It's now clear to me. Fuck everyone.

This has to mean McDaniels takes over for BB. After this no other organization will take him seriously as a candidate. He totally F’d Indy over, which I’m fine with.

Good for Josh. He took his time and made the choice that is best for him and his family. Certainly seems like Josh told them he'd make a decision by tomorrow and the Colts jumped the gun.

If Barstool or someone sells a shirt about this I'll buy 1 immediately.

Sorry what does this say?

Also why can’t I ever see this stuff? Just cause of the App? Any fix?
App issues.

Here it is: Text from one league source: “That’s Kraft putting it to the Colts again. He will forever try and (expletive) that place ever since deflate gate.”

This is the biggest reason I'm inferring that he's the successor, he has to know this is a massive faux paus to most franchises, and it isnmt like he has the cache of Bill Parcells to overcome it.

Better money. Family stability. Good situation. Strong lead to take over for BB in a couple years. Not a bad route to take.

Any stick-it-to-Indy is merely a nice side effect. That isn't steering decisions. Just a nice happy outcome. Fuck em

The fact that Josh hired Assistant coaches makes no sense. Something happened at the eleventh hour and gives me pause that B.B. might be leaving

Schefter reported that this isn't true, BB will be the coach next year and that the two biggest factors in McDaniels staying was family stability and the Pats push to keep him.

WTF? Please tell this doesn't mean BB is already retiring? He needs to make up for the Butler fiasco. Or did Irsay do something stupid while drunk/high?
Yes, something very stupid, he orchestrated phoney deflate gate. This is some good payback. Not enough, but some.

He can't hire assistants since he never took the job.

There's already been a tweet about what happened: BB clarified his status next season (he's back), MCDaniels got a raise and stability, and (now we're guessing) some assurances that he's the leader in the clubhouse to replace him.

All I know is that this morning I truly felt like this run was over. Now that feeling is totally gone. We have 2-3 more years. Let’s do this.

No doubt. They could use some stability here.
No need to rebuild both sides of the ball when there's so much to do defensively.

Actually, Marbleheader made an interesting assumption tha McD probably told the Colts that he’d have an answer for them by tomorrow and they jumped the gun.

Taking that a step further if I were in Josh’s shoes, and given what we know about Indy/Irsay re:sliminess, I’d think they made the announcement to box me in so I couldn’t back out. That would give me MAJOR reservations about taking the job.

I’d not be surprised if Josh asked Bill’s advice and Bill telling him, “ifyou turn this down, you’re poisoning the well for your future HC prospects, but I’m hanging it up in X seasons” and X was a number Josh was ok with, considering he loves his current situation.

FYI I am doing a little wishful thinking here, hoping B.B. is giving this at least 2 more seasons.

This potentially makes a TON of sense

Two weeks ago Mike Reiss was on Ch. 4's Sunday Sports Final show and said the McDaniels-to-Indy story was not as wrapped up as many were describing it.
