Good deal. They probably wanted more years, but Connolly wanted a one year deal.

This is what I was coming to say.  He does have some upside and I would have loved to see something like 3yrs/5m.  That's less than they paid Soup and there is no way Connolly will be any worse in his 23-26 year old seasons... and that is probably exactly why he did the one year deal

This is exactly the type of guy you try to fill your 3rd and 4th lines with.

I certainly hope they will push him on a much higher line.  Connolly is a pretty high end talent, obviously former 6 overall pick, and a guy who had a 16% shooting percentage last year while playing on 3rd/4th line.  He is a skilled player, and not a plugger.

I agree. This is a big year for him. He is going to be forced into a top 9 role for sure, and likely a top 6 role. He has a lot of talent that the other wingers they picked up (Hayes and Belesky) simply do not. He's not as physical, but he's also no pushover. I think of him as Horton-lite.

I'd like to see him get some time on Krejci's wing to see how he does up there full-time. A one year deal is a great motivator for Connolly to put it together this year and take the leap. He's got loads of potential, but if he doesn't produce this year I'd rather they move on.

Agree.  After Pastrnak, I see him as having more offensive potential than any of the other Bruin wingers.

I do not disagree. I would think the kid and Connolly end up on the top two lines on the right side when all is said and done.
