That was a good game. Mexico missing a penalty was funny and maybe justice served?

I do not much like Venezuela, but dislike Mexico more (sorry friends) at least in Futbol terms.

Let´s see what happens next. Meanwhile I am missing Panama-USA tomorrow (at least live as I have to attend a family wedding). Good luck guys.

Mexico need a win to advance. That late golazo by Caicedo looks to be immense as predicted upthread, which gives Ecuador the lead over El Tri on GD.

I’d like to root for Mexico. I love the country and the culture. They place a nice style of soccer and honestly should have more international success than they’ve had so far. Then there’s the chant.

ok that one they deserved.

Vini and friends with a nifty little weave to get him a wide open shot in the middle of the box.

Brazil attack the goal in numbers and after some bounces in the box Savio pounces on a rebound, 2-0

Vini gets a full body check from a Paraguayan guy, there’s a dispute about a ball in touch, huge fooforaw ensues, some Paraguayan dude literally attempts to bull-rush/headbutt someone and has to be restrained by 5 Brazilian guys.

Game has gone beyond the allotted stoppage time, but ref awards Paraguay the throwin, they immediately turn it over and 10 seconds later Vini finishes a fast break, 3-0

6 goals in Group A. 5 by Argentina. 1 by Canada. Canada played a man up for over 90 minutes in group play.
While very happy they made it out of the group, I think they were very lucky with the Red cards. It’s hard to evaluate progess so far. The lack of goals with the numerical superiority is kind of troubling. Mind you, Marsh has only been here for a month or so so it’s a work in progress.

We all love to bitch about VAR, but that's why VAR is a good thing. That was not a penalty and it would have been a real shame if Mexico had gone through on a blown call.
