Anyone else on DirectTV stream experiencing buffering issue? An error message states the network is overloaded but it cannot be in home internet as nothing else was streaming at the time.

Thanks, though disappointing. That would be $35/mo more than YTTV, which is hard to justify that just for NESN. Might be a sad baseball season at the Bohous house.

edit: Looks like NESN360 is $30/mo which is still ridiculous.
Word. I'm bummed that NESN is $30/mo. It's outrageous. I'd go $20 no problem, which is still awful compared to other streaming services. But I'm having a hard time going $30. Might be a "Sox on the radio" year like it's 1977 all over again.

Wait until you find out what they charge to see the team in person. That $300 million they gave to Devers has to come from somewhere.

I decided to try NESN360 since I cut cable and have the Verizon home internet for $25/month. I have Youtube TV as a gift so not changing.
I am hoping I'm happy with it's performance (as well as the team's).
I don't have high expectations for the four tickets. What has been your experience?
Thanks!

Yep, they just made my decision to jump to another service for NESN a little easier.
What I would love to see YouTube do is at least give a discount rate for YT Premium to YTTV subscribers. These days I probably consume more regular YT content than live TV

What the hell is a broadcasting fee?
https://www.cabletv.com/blog/what-is-a-broadcast-tv-fee
Cable TV providers claim that local broadcast TV stations charge exorbitant fees for the providers to air, or rebroadcast, programming from those stations. In turn, the TV providers say that they pass at least a portion of this cost on to the consumer. But really, broadcast TV fees are exactly what you suspect: TV providers squeezing more money from you...When we say that TV providers pass a portion of what they pay local broadcasters, it’s because that’s the official word—from the providers. Since the fees are b.s., the “portion” thing is also dubious.

YouTubeTV is still a steal at this price. And I have the 4K plan, so this one actually lowers my cost.

But it is a steal. It is an awesome TV service.

Have you (or anybody else) redeemed the Sox ticket offer that comes with the NESN360 annual plan yet? Curious where they are located and what games are available.

I have YTTV and my brother has Fubo. We are allowed to share with people outside of the household, but there are some limits on the total number of screens you can use, so I have been trying to use the NESN360 app with his Fubo credentials to limit the number of people logged in to Fubo. That works, but for some reason I have to log out and log back in on both my tv and my phone every day to use the app on my Roku TV. Between that annoyance and the fact that I can't then easily change to another channel, it really makes watching the Sox a pain and is going to drive me to only have the Sox on a second screen unless the team can really make me care later this season.

After repeated requests over the course of a couple weeks I cancelled my one year subscription. Then I purchased the monthly option. It was seamless.
I didn't like the process dragging knowing "While Supplies Last". I can just cancel from November to March and restart. I can't imagine the tickets are even decent seats anyway.

I really like YTTV but missed NESN. Not an elegant solution but found one that does get me NESN for free. I signup with Fubo using the 7 day trial and use my Apple credit card. When the week is up I cancel the Fubo. I then signup again using a new email and also Apple allows me to change my credit card number so I change the number and I have another week of Fubo. I don’t do it every week but so far it has worked.

I’m probably irrational, but I’m extremely displeased about networks continuing to show “local programming” in the early afternoons instead of sports. I’m just not into softball and men’s lacrosse (ESPN) and college baseball regionals aren’t until next week and the nba/nhl playoffs if teams are still playing are at night. I know it’s a beautiful day at the beginning of a long weekend but still.

Do these infomercials get any sorts of ratings?

Intro double or triple play package with Verizon if you can swing it where you live. I forget the name, but choose the sports package of programming. You will get everything you want included online and via cable. Still works out as best value play.

I'm back on DirecTV Stream. $99/mo for Choice (game 7 tonight and NESN going forward). Monthly billing. I'll take it.

Edited to add: And, canceled. Picture quality was middling. Game kept buffering. Fubo is better on my (admittedly poor) internet connection. Youtube.TV still #1.

I think I'm about to break down and get NESN 360 (thanks, Celtics). Probably will start Thursday. Maybe for 3 months only. Hate the cost.

YouTube TV is dropping SNY. So with NESN and YES already gone there will be no more baseball in the northeast.
It's wild how quickly YTTV went away from regional networks after they used to sell the idea of having them available. I'm in NY and am now reconsidering my options after being a subscriber for a few years. Not just a Mets loss right as the Sox are lining up a July series but the Nets and UConn women's basketball in winter. Jarring after losing YES and MLB Net the last two years

Anyone else having major issues with the Apple TV app? I have a Roku TV and every other app works fine, but no matter what I encounter 10+ loooong buffering waits per episode of anything on Apple, which is preventing me from finally getting into Ted Lasso. Google suggests this isn’t an uncommon problem, so what the hell Apple? Anyone find a workaround?

I had a whole thread about it last year. I've been unable to find a solution and have just resorted to watching the first few minutes on a phone/tablet and then watching the rest on the Roku.

Update: like others have found it appears to be a Roku issue - loaded Apple TV on the PS5 and it played a full ep without issue earlier.

Late to the conversation, but we have been having issues with our Roku - Infinity combination, as well. For some channels, the sound and picture will not correspond; like watching a poorly dubbed Godzilla movie from the 1960s.

DirecTV Stream is good for sports for me in Fairfield County, only notably missing NFL Network.

edit...and now they are adding NFL Network, though it's a Sports Package that's mostly redundant for $15, so may just pass. NFLN and Red Zone aren't worth $15 to me.

For those of you that had Peacock via Comcast, it now requires a separate subscription.
Sort of? I got a notice from Xfinity that it was going away. Then I got an email this morning that my gig-speed internet includes two years of Peacock Premium starting 6/25 through 6/25/2025. Feels like an agreement was reached?

Thanks for this. I'll need to check this out next time I'm on the Cape.

The reason I brought it up is that Peacock is requiring me to sign up so there might be a couple of things I need to look into. I can live without Peacock in the interim.

Apparently this is cord cutting attempt season.
Just got emails for Fubo 2 week trials today (tried the.for months like 3 years ago had to go to fourth email address now)

2 months of Apple yesterday

Hulu maybe a week ago?

Paramount and with deals previously on August too.

everyone except Netflix and perhaps Amazon (because people need their prime) is in serious trouble
I’m canceling any of those free trials. I’m sure many others too.

Just keeping Netflix with commercials at 7.50ish year round
(I do have access to Comcast from someone else)

OK so I signed up for the 2 weeks of FUbo. It's mainly for the 2 Dodgers games and the 3 Astros games, but want to get more value out of my trial. Trying to watch Season 7 of Biillions and other shows, and getting "Something Went Wrong"

Anyone have this issue before and fixed it? Very annoying. At least its a very easy to decision to cancel ($120 service with all the taxes, total ripoff)

Seems live TV (at least sports) works, but VOD doesn't.

I have directv (satellite), and have had it for many years. I don't think I'm getting enough out of it to justify $150 a month. I kept it for Sunday Ticket but don't need it now obviously.

The problem is NESN. I'm out of market, so I have to subscribe to MLBtv or to the directv baseball package to get Red Sox games, but I also like to watch the post-game show. It looks to me as though my only options are to keep Directv, switch to Fubo or change from directv satellite to stream. I'm not sure if NESN is an option with cable. It might be. I'm out of New England so I can't get NESN 360, I don't think.

I don't love any of those options. Fubo looks cheapest, but I lose access to the Turner channels, for the NCAA tournament and NBA. Maybe that's not a big deal. But there just doesn't seem to be a perfect option.

Fubo sucks
Had the 14 day package but canceled after 5-6 days afraid I’d forget

The 15 second ff is worse than Comcast’s by far.
It would be over $100 for a month if I kept it
Also kept erroring when tried to get on demand stuff (for channels I had live)

Not worth it when Netflix is $7 (Comm) and Hulu is $3 ;(Comm)
DVR space is nice though
