Pablo Reyes, the guy they got from A's a couple days ago.Buh-bye.
What was the corresponding roster move?
Given the FO’s persistent affection for Ort, and the early struggles in Worcester of a couple other pitchers on the 40-man, I think Dalbec’s the cut next time they need to open a 40-man spot.I really think it’s time to let him go. Some other team may give him a shot sgain but his time here should be over.
I don't think they're trading him in the near future. Dalbec has a role given the current construction of the 40-man. He's corner infield depth in case Devers or Casas or Turner gets hurt. Unfortunately, what they've been calling him up to be is middle infield depth. Pablo Reyes is much better suited to that (and can easily be DFA when Arroyo is healthy).I wonder if he has any trade value? After all they traded Michael Chavis for Austin Davis. Surely Dalbec can top that?
I feel like there should be some trade value there. He is the perfect "change of scenery, small market" guy. Grew up on West Coast, has controllable years, legit power, some positional versatility.I wonder if he has any trade value? After all they traded Michael Chavis for Austin Davis. Yeah, the last two season wasn't nearly enough time.Dalbec is getting a raw deal imho. Not enough of a chance to show he can play. But maybe I’m biased based on spring training success
CasasYeah, the last two season wasn't nearly enough time.
He turns 28 in a bit more than a month. He's had his chance. Who are we supposed to not play so that he gets another one?
Seriously, no one would bench Casas for Dalbec. Unless, of course, it was the A’s actively trying to lose.Even with his struggles, Casas has a .317 obp; Bobby’s career is .299.
Well, who wouldn't? My dog certainly does.Given the FO’s persistent affection for Ort...
He’s hitting .180You can’t be serious.
Casas has actually been better against lefties (182/357/409) than righties (180/305/359)He’s hitting .180
Needs at bats every day including lefties that he can get at AAA and improve his defense
Bobby is more versatile, just as likely to hit home runs and more likely to hit singles doubles and triples and is more experienced.
You can always re-examine in a month or two.
Dalbec has proven over three years that aside from a very good six weeks, he can’t consistently hit major league pitching. He’s no longer a prospect, he’s a suspect. He’s AAAA hitter. He’s hitting .180

Which is why it sort of makes sense to keep him around, no? ATM having him in WOOstah doesn't really block anyone else.I feel like there should be some trade value there. So these execs are willing to overpay ? Cool. I know...Gammo.Grain of salt because it's Gammons and who knows how plugged in he is these days....

I don't think there's a hurry. Even if Gammons' report is true and they are shopping him around, I don't think that means they're going to move him fast. If they don't see a return offer for him that they like, there's no harm in holding on to him. It could be that Bloom is just chumming the water to see what sorts of deals might be out there in a month or two when the deadline is looming closer. What's the hurry in dealing him? If Casas or, godforbid, Devers gets hurt, I'd much rather have Dalbec replace him than anyone else on the 40.
You have to look at trends, not just overall averages to determine whether to send a guy down. You certainly don't send Casas down now, when he's just gotten hot. He’s hitting .180

FWIW (probably not much) they were calling it 499 on the MLB Network. It looks good, is that distance verifiable?
