The Celtics have Theis' Bird rights, which means as far as I understand it, they can go over the luxury tax to resign him (obviously making Wyc's wallet a bit lighter).

My question is, does resigning Theis impact the hard cap / apron? I'm just wondering if the Celtics have any shot at re-signing him this offseason?

Theis new contract would count towards luxury tax calculations and the apron.

The hard cap would apply only if the Celtics were to receive a player in a sign-and-trade. Or use the full MLE, which is highly unlikely to be available to them anyway.
