This helps the Celtics’ ability to cobble together contracts in a trade, like Brogdon, Gallo, PP, Muscala, and picks for Beal.
Concepts like: having Flotsam on the Celtics roster to make trades happen or it's just Wyc's money will slowly fade with the new CBA.

Have to hand it to the NBA owners, the latest CBA will make drunken Warrior spending a thing of the past.

Yup, "no consolidating contracts" and "pick 7 years out goes to the end of the draft" are incredibly powerful, and will drastically affect everyone's behavior.

Won’t this summer be the last chance to consolidate contracts?

I think they will have this summer & next (final CBA details not out yet) to consolidate. I wouldn't be surprised if they pushed back some of the consolidation/draft pick/hard cap-2nd apron crap out another season. So Gallo flotsam may not be that painful but teams will probably be getting their books in order sooner rather than later

Some of the consequences here will be teams that retained-gathered draft picks & created cap space last year are winners (Danny does it again). The Gobert acquisition hangover keeps getting worse for Wolves fans o_O

The days of Pickz-a-Palooza for TOP20-50 periphery MAX players are all but over.

Keith Smith was on CelticsBeat (Kaufman) and said that the intent of the new 2nd apron rules was to reward teams that drafted well by allowing them to re-sign their guys but prevent teams from just signing a bunch of guys, aggregating them, and then getting a better player.

So it seems like you are correct that draft picks for teams approaching the 2nd apron are going to be way more valuable as it will either be draft picks or minimum salaried guys before the season starts (as 2nd apron teams will be prevented from accessing the buyout market.

Smith is really good, I'll have to check that out.

Turning your G-League team into a development spot for older undrafted rookies (ie Hauser) & what Miami/Toronto have been doing the last 4-5 years will also help with the extra 2-way contract added. We may see 14-man rosters become more prevalent to save a few shekels

Yes correct. For those who missed it, worth a listen...
