#DFG: Canceling the Noise

Is there any level of suspension that you would advise Tom to accept?

A quote from the news day article

"The idea that Mike Kensil would have it out for the Patriots is just false," a person familiar with the situation said. "It was not an amicable parting."

Odd sentences to have back to back. Unless the source doesn't really know what amicable means.

They mean that he wouldn't have it out for the NEP due to his Jets connections, given that the Jets fired his ass.

Well the other way this is being interpreted by some of the sports radio shows I am hearing is that Kraft is throwing his weight around with Goodell. If the NFL ends up exonerating the Patriots, you will hear some folks point to this as Goodell caving to one of his most powerful bosses.
There is one certainty here - regardless of the outcome, there will always be people who believe that the Patriots did something wrong in this year's AFCG.
Yeah Goodell is going to get slammed for that if he lets the Pats off the hook here and obviously the usual muppets are going to bleat that out and some other members of the league aren't going to like that. Krafts message is tough shit Roger.

I've got no idea whether the accusations about Kensil are true, but acrimony between him and the Jets and a longstanding, irrational hatred for Belichick and the Patriots are not mutually exclusive.

It is silly. I believe them without question and without fear of either Belichick or Brady being dishonest.
Me too. I'm just saying if I'm wrong and they aren't being truthful that as dumb and minor as the pressure of the football is, they'd have burnt Kraft.

So somebody in league office, close to Kensil, would throw water on the idea that Kensil led the charge, has an axe to grind, and is only releasing the bits and pieces that would make the Pats look bad? Color me shocked.

It's very likely that Florio has a different league source, someone outside the group that's doing most of the leaking. The Florio leaks were the only ones that have challenged the ongoing narrative. He might have been part of the original "rush to judgment" crowd, but clearly he's hearing (and printing) something different now.

PFT can now contribute additional details to that story.

First, per a league source, the other “area on way to field” is a bathroom.  The bathroom consists of one toilet and one sink and a door that locks from the inside.

Second, according to the same source, the person carried two bags of balls into the bathroom:  the 12 balls to be used by the Patriots and the 12 balls to be used by the Colts.

Third, from the same source, the evidence comes from a surveillance video that was discovered by the Patriots and given to the NFL early in the investigation.

Fourth, again from the same source, the video shows the employee in the bathroom for approximately 90 seconds.

Could the employee have fished 12 balls out of a fairly large bag, deflated each of them by two pounds, put them back into the bag, and exited the bathroom in roughly 90 seconds?  That question will surely become the centerpiece of the next red state/blue state debate between folks who have determined that the Patriots have done something wrong and those who are staunchly defending the franchise.

And, yes, the photo accompanying this story was taken inside one of the bathrooms at Gillette Stadium.  When NBC broadcast the Ravens-Patriots playoff game from Foxboro on January 10, Florio Jr. demanded pictures from the venue.  Since he didn’t specify where he wanted them from, I took one inside the bathroom and texted it to him.

He didn’t think it was funny.

Just keep in mind that Roger Goodell WORKS for Kraft and the rest of the owners.  Mr. Kraft has sent a strong message to his employee that he is not taking care of business in a professional manner. In other words, time to freshen up that resume and get it out to monster.com Roger.
Yup. As cathartic as this is in and of itself for Pats fans, the larger implication is that Goodell, in the midst of another fuckup, just got called out by a guy on whose public support Goodell relied pretty heavily during his previous fuckup. This is a major shot to Goodell.

I'm sure we'll see some criticism of Kraft for calling out a commissioner for fucking up an under-inflated ball incident when he offered the same man his full support when he fucked up a domestic violence incident. And really that's probably deserved.

I'm also sure that when the NFL doesn't produce evidence, people outside New England will overwhelmingly claim that Kraft basically publicly pressured a guy who worked for him and compromised Goodell's ability to complete the investigation properly. But fuck those people.

My god. So the earlier leak was because the kid pissed before having to go out to the field for hours??? Nice job Glazer. No question it was "leaked" the way it was to make the Patriots look bad.

More evidence that Florio is getting the full story while the Kensil crowd is only leaking the bits that make the Pats look bad.

So wait...how did his piss make the balls have less pressure?

I'll just wait for Bill Nye to explain it.

So poor kid is a "person of interest" because he took a leak?

This is what they have after one week of looking?

Allow me to be among the first to say that it sure would be something for this kid to go into a bathroom stall to deflate nearly a dozen footballs and get them close to Tom Brady's version of "perfect" - and decide to take just 90 seconds to do it.

And the fact that Florio has a picture of the bathroom is just fucking priceless. If you look in the bowl, those are chunks of Goodell floating in Florio's stool.

Cue every clownshow network and TV show hiring Criss Angel or David Blaine to see if they can deflate 11 balls in 90 seconds.

The idea that they play with footballs that were in the bathroom is disgusting. This is like that episode of Seinfeld.
it would explain the shrinkage in PSI.

I was thinking of the one when george brings the book into the bookstore bathroom and it is flagged thereafter.

The bag had 24 balls in it. Somehow, this kid was able to differentiate between the Colts and Pats balls, and NAIL all 11 deflations in 90 seconds?

The Pats called their bluff and the NFL had a 5 and 7 unsuited.

Everyone realizes if the kid left the bag in the hallway unattended THAT would be the focus now right?
