Offer sheet:
2016 1st, 2017 1st, 2016 2nd, 2016 3rd
Trade;
2015 1st, 2015 2nd, 2015 2nd

If you're tearing it down and rebuilding, the second is probably more preferable.  Sweeney's move has to be around a total rebuild.

I wouldn't have traded down from #9 to #15 in '11 for the #45 and #52.

It wasn't hyperbole when someone said this could be the worst trade in franchise history.

Fuck this organization. I understood trading Kessel. I even understood trading Seguin. But trading Hamilton, and trading Hamilton for this...this is just fucking idiocy. Fuck this team, fuck Cam Neely, you have got to be shitting me. I can't remember the last time a trade made me this angry.

The biggest single mistake they made in the last 5 years was the Seguin trade and then they do this.  This is a total clown show.
I loathed that trade. And now I have that same pit in my stomach.

Fucking goat rodeo.

Yeah, I can't wait for their #15 pick to end up as the next Zach Hamil, while the 2nds turn into the next Jared Knight.

They better not be doing this because they'd rather keep Lucic.

And they'll bring back McQuaid because GRIT! HARD TO PLAY AGAINST!
And teams will continue to skate circles around them while they go d to d to d to turnover.

They are going to be the Carolina Hurricanes this year.

Sorry, that's an insult to Carolina. Edmonton East?

Playoff teams are fine giving up that package for a trade deadline rental, and here it's good enough for a stud 22 year old defenseman. Can't wait to see the train wreck roster these fools would prefer to put together over one with Hamilton on it.

Are we in this cap situation because of Don Sweeney? Did he hand out contracts left and right overpaying players and give NMC clauses out?
They could have paid Dougie.

“@TSNBobMcKenzie: Bold move by CGY to acquire Hamilton; will have to wait to see what’s BOS angle, sounds like there may be more (Lucic?) to come.”

Is this all a prank??

They had better offers and declined?
They could have had better picks if they allowed other teams to give him an offer sheet?
They could have re-signed him themselves?

None of those were considered and instead we jumped on #15 and some second round dregs?

Unless there is something else brewing, this is a clownshow.

Between here and everywhere.
I genuinely don't understand this, at all.

It just doesn't jive with everything Sweeney said in his opening press conference. It doesn't jive with the type of team he said he wanted to build. Nothing about this trade makes any sense with everything the team has said and done as far as team building goes.

This is a ship without a rudder, anchor, or mast.

Dammit, and I loved Neely.

This would be like the Sox naming Pedroia GM and he traded Mookie Betts.

“@GlobeKPD: At moment, I’d be looking at Kings and what Bruins could land for Lucic, a first, couple of seconds.”

I can't remember feeling this unequivocally sad about a team move. I don't think even Tito's firing was this enraging.

Somehow, all I can think about is: poor Bergeron. Stuck working for these shitheads in his prime.

How is this a bold move for Calgary?  Is there any team in the league that wouldn't make that trade?  Ugh worst fucking trade.

In 2 years, they've traded away a top line scoring talent and a top pairing defenseman several years before the primes of their careers.

This team had a double barrel shotgun pointed at their head and somehow managed to survive the first blast. No fucking way they survive this one.

Maybe he will get lucky and get traded, too.

This just doesn't fucking matter. You don't need to look any further than the Celtics draft last night. You can have all the picks in the world, if people don't want to trade you premiere talent or picks, you're stuck up the river.

FUCK.

If Hamilton was adamant on making 8 million per year on a long term deal maybe the Bruins just didn't want to pay that for a player that young and not fully proven. Now i fucking hate the deal but we have no idea what Hamilton and his agent wanted in terms of a deal or if he was willing to sign a bridge deal until a bigger contract.

Don't even have to look to a different sport, or a different team for that matter. This team hasn't done shit in the draft except for the picks that fell in their laps.

Why wouldn't you just accept an offer sheet for him then?

fuck it.  seguin & hamilton should have been the core of this team for the next decade, and they're going to end up with a bunch of complimentary pieces instead.  time to go figure out how to cancel my center ice auto-renew.

FUCK.
To be fair, this isn't the NBA draft that has a total of 2-3 difference makers. Talent can come in the later picks/rounds of the NHL draft. The problem is the timeline it takes to get to the NHL.

If the Bruins move Lucic for picks and then somehow get into the top 2 of this draft, my opinion MIGHT change, but that's about the only thing they could do right now that would make any of this feel better. if they trade Lucic for more picks and get the #3 pick, it's going to be painful.
