Calgary would win the tiebreaker over the B's.
thanks.

I mean, home field advantage really matters the least in NHL it feels like, but still, just not having to face TB next round would be huge and something they hopefully would not squander.

California. Duh.
It’s less fun given the Bruins are on it.
Yeah, but that got wiped away for me when they won the Cup the following year.

Sharks fans around here had to deal with blowing a 3-0 lead to the Kings on top of the countless other times they've underachieved in the playoffs.

Last team to take a 3-0 lead on the Presidents' Trophy winners was LA in 2012. So no pressure CBJ....

And Ovi drove Svechnikov's head into the ice. Hurricanes got the best revenge. 5 -0 shutout. With only 8 Capital shots for the rest of the game after the above fight.

I thought he was throwing a punch but Svech was already on the way down and thus Ovi lost his balance and landed on him.

He put his left hand on the other players neck and put his weight forward so he drove the players head into the ice. It's right there in the video. He never attempted to hold up.
Yeah, that’s objectively not what happened.

Guess what, when you’re on skates and have all your weight going forward trying to throw a punch and the other guy goes limp and falls straight backwards...you’re going with him. And when you do, there’s not much to brace your fall or any leverage for you to do...anything really.

yeah his knees went to the side instead of landing his full weight on the body, his hands went to the side immediately as soon as he got down... that was bracing from an unexpected fall, not a pile-driver.

How rare is it that a belligerent gets KTFO in a hockey fight? I know it happens but I figured it was like a few per season.

Seems all parties are agreed that there was a fight offered and accepted, but I did think there was some violation of "fight code" by Ovechkin jumping Svechnikov and throwing his gloves off before Svechnikov had a chance to do the same. If you get KTFO in a straight up fight, then it is what it is, but I thought that was not the case here.

I agree with this part of it.

This will sting for a long time if CBJ finish this off. I still cringe thinking about those great early 2000s teams that bombed out against Montreal.

Does the clock get reset to when the offside happened?

In all seriousness I want no part of a rested Columbus. They’re really good right now.

That can work both ways. There could be a huge emotional let down if they win tonight and then don’t play again for 7-10 days.

That's the other nice thing about the Caps finally winning one last year. Now it's someone else's turn to have a great regular season then choke in the first round of the playoffs.

CBJ has punched the bully and the bully has folded. Impressive to watch.

I feel like taunting them after game 2 about what happened last year may have been a bit of a mistake.
