No Marcus is tough, no Al and a rusty hobbled Time Lord? Ugh.
This team survived what was considered a devastating loss in game five of the Bucks series that some people felt might impact the team beyond this season. These are huge absences but this team feels like it can overcome them, mostly because they have a Tatum. But the others are battle tested too.

Win regardless.

Of course, you can emotionally hedge and assume death but that's coming for us all regardless of whether you stay vigilant for it or not.

For me, its more fun envisioning success, at least before the tip. YRMV

Super, there is the potentially crippling out of nowhere bullshit that has sunk several promising Celtics playoff runs the past 15 years.

Luckily this is a very talented team with demonstrated grit, but removing TWO starters, and one with basically no notice? Yikes.

He really can’t miss 2-3 games.

Yep. If any group that overcome this obstacle, it's these Celtics.

The Luke Kornet Game is sure to be the stuff of legend.

I am confused as to how he was on the court for shootaround an hour ago then suddenly got placed in health and safety protocols. Did he all of a sudden come down with unmistakable symptoms and get tested that quickly, or was he on the court with symptoms?
It seems very unlikely he was on the court with known symptoms.

Yeah, I don't get this. If it was a close family member would they have taken a test in the time between the shootaround and the announcement?

I can't keep track of the vax/anti-vax rules these days in all the sports....

But is it possible he had a known exposure that required him to get tested as unvaccinated?

And even if other teammates had a similar exposure, they didn't need to get tested unless they declare symptoms because they are vaccinated?

Losing Al for a few games would make winning the series tough. A symptomatic team outbreak would be a much bigger disaster of course.

As far as I'm aware, they're only testing symptomatic players now. So he either had to have self-reported after shootaround or was so obviously sick that someone from the team or medical staff forced him to take a test.

Sources: The NBA has informed teams that daily surveillance COVID-19 testing for players, coaches and Tier 1 personnel will not extend beyond Saturday. Individuals will remain subject to testing if symptomatic, exposed or enhanced directive by league office.
This is the most recent update I could find - you get tested with known exposure or symptoms.

I was bracing for a tough night just because of the quick turnaround and change of opponent. I hate having to over rely on guys that could use an extra day or two of light work.

All that said, Grant has a good enough game, Tatum and Brown deliver big games, and Tyler Herro cries the sad song of a beaten man after getting worked all game.

Uggg. I'm more scared of the Heat than any other team and not having Smart/Horford is devastating.

If it comes out this is because he’s unvaxxed, God rest his soul if they lose. He prob wouldn’t be coming back.
He has said he is vaccinated. He’s also been in health and safety protocols three times this year. He must be unlucky as fuck….
