I hate soccer.

But I love the Liverpool mascot being wee Dwight Schrute

Liverpool looking out of sorts with an apparent 3-5-2. Johnson as a right center half and Moreno as a left wing.

I'd rather see Kolo

I've been pretty critical of Balotelli's work rate, but the criticism from Robbie Earle and Graeme Le Saux today smells of analysts having talking points and looking for opportunities. Earle especially sounded ridiculous for criticizing Balotelli for not running into the middle of four Newcastle defenders instead of finding open space at the top of the box.

Balotelli just needs to be determined, worker, intense, good worker, hard worker, terrific

Glen Johnson is that Football Manager sim player who takes two strides, stutter steps, then slowly turns and either loses the ball, makes a sideways pass, or leaves the ball short of his target.

Chippy is fine. Taking a full running swing at a guy's mid leg is not.

Break upfield for Newcastle starts from a braindead left footer from 35 yards by Johnson

Fantastic

Hope the internet captured that image of Pardew celebrating the goal by suckling that water bottle with two hands like a thirsty infant.

I thought Johnson had pushed up enough, can't believe that wasn't ruled offside

Rough go for Moreno

I only caught the last 25 mins, but Liverpool looked dire. They couldn't pass the ball upfield to even set up an opportunity, let alone craft a true scoring chance, and this when chasing the game against Newcastle. They're missing Sturridge a lot, but how much difference can one player make?

Is that player a bitey Uruguayan who is one of the 3 best goal scorers in the world? Then maybe. If it's Daniel Sturridge then decidedly not.

I've only seen 3 Liverpool matches all the way through this season, but an underrated part of their struggles from what I saw is that Gerrard looks to be a small fraction of the player he was. Watching him get absolutely dominated by Downing in the West Ham matchup was fun, but also a little sad.

Yeah, Suarez was definitely the linchpin for them, and there's no use crying about what you can't change, but it's still hard to recognize last year's free-flowing offensive team in this lot.
PS- nice shot, Oscar!

Thanks, but any updates on Big Sam's torrid romance with Russell Brand? Enquiring minds want to know.
IN trouble after that goal.
an attacking Big Sam team losing to route 1 on a sloppy pitch quite the reversal of roles.
