Correct call because the defender played the ball no?
Yes by the book a correct call. Just seems crazy an off balance defensive touch stands when the forward is 4 yards off in the box means he can tap it hope. But a guy being a hair off 40 yards from goal is called back. I just hate the splitting the atom offside VAR when something like this counts lol.

Two head injury subs in the Belgium Russia match... the Russian seemingly mandated by (UEFA?) doctor. Do these count toward the 3 subs or has the concussion rules/protocol been changed? I heard them discussing on the broadcast, but was on a call and unable to hear.

You could have turned it off, no?

That's what I meant in my first post about this. You're pissed at the production. But what are they supposed to do, pretend it didn't happen? If they did that, another entirely different group of people would be pissed. So my point is that this entire outrage cycle over everything is just a constant race to the bottom. People are just mad and they cannot wait to tell you how mad they are.
I did, in fact, turn it off. I’m not pissed, I’m not outraged. You’re bemoaning a straw man. It was not necessary to show what they showed. They did eventually cut to a shot of the entire stadium, which was fine. It was not the moment to show close ups and reactions. It was handled poorly. I understand that it was a difficult situation and grant that there is no playbook but I think discussion and criticism is warranted if we want to avoid future shots of a distraught wife wondering whether her husband is dead on the pitch. And anyone who wants to complain about not getting fairly close shots of a man maybe literally dying on TV is not someone I’m worried about. Theoretical people who would have been mad are also a complete red herring if the actual people who are actually mad are correct to be so. I don’t need anyone’s head but we should ask them to be better

I went into a movie right as people said Eriksen collapsed so I'm relieved he seems to be okay.

That is a gigantic win for Finland, although it would have been awesome if Denmark won. They outshot Finland 22-1.

Russia looks hopeless offensively. They push the ball into the area and there is no one to receive a through ball or a cross. There are like eight Belgians and three Russians in front of the goal.

I wasn’t thrilled with the Belgians going forward- the front 5 was getting separated from the back 5 too much for my liking. KDB and Witsel do such a nice job of linking the layers of attack.

comfortable win though on a tough day

Just a quick Lukaku appreciation post. He’s no longer that young explosion of energy. He’s honed his game and executes the essential duties of a striker at the highest levels. What an incredible player.

I feel like every time TT engages Jon Champion in a faux debate, Champion just rolls his eyes. Notice the awkward silence of the last exchange
It happens at least once a match. Love it. Also love when TT tries to display a dry sense of humor and Champion leaves dead air.

I must say, after watching the YT highlights, the title is so apropos for what Russia was doing on Goal 1

Jon Champion leaving dead air is only second to Martin Tyler leaving dead air. Back when Champion was still on EPL World Feed, I'd have to make sure the audio was still on b'c he would leave large pockets without a word

He’s amazing right now. I didn’t watch much of Inter this season, caught a few games, but I’ve watched all of Belgium’s games and he’s been borderline unplayable. Physical gifts honed, mental game locked down.
There was a pass from Carrasco (I think?) in the first half that went awry, Rom was backing someone down 15 yards out. It was hard to tell what went wrong, whether the pass was off or he had a poor touch. He immediately turned to the passer and was gesturing that the pass was to the wrong foot, and he had the defender blocked off with a quick and the mountain of a shoulder creating space.

*chef’s kiss*

He may, may, just be enough to drag Belgium past some superior opponents
