They have the best player in the tournament but it’s an 11-11 gameGlad to see Portugal out. They can play so beautifully at times, but mostly they're an affront to fair play.
Maybe a little harsh on Belgium? I think I lost count of how many counterattacks they had that ended up without a shot attemptFinal xG: Por 1.72 vs 0.23 Bel
Counterattacks without shots don't produce xGs.Maybe a little harsh on Belgium? I think I lost count of how many counterattacks they had that ended up without a shot attempt
That's kind of the point, right? A fast break that ends in a turnover isn't necessarily 'worth' less than a half-court possession that ends in a contested shot.Counterattacks without shots don't produce xGs.
Ecuador just pulled even with a Brazilian B squad (1-1 in 54th). Peru up 1-0 over Venezuela, they (Ven) look to be the team eliminated from the group. If you’re fiending, Brazil/Ecuador about to kick off on FS1
Nobody is getting a home game in the Round of 16 - the tournament has intentionally been designed that way, hasn't it?Been letting of some steam before posting. Dutch were bad, but one thing i dont understand is you win the group then get an away game? Thats just horrible. Players were complaining about the weather its about 20 degrees in Amsterdam and 30 in budapest. Thats just bullshit too me. This game in Amsterdam with 30.000 dutch fans in attendance. End rant.
But they were at disadvantage given distances to Budapest from Prague and Amsterdam/Rotterdam/HagueNobody is getting a home game in the Round of 16 - the tournament has intentionally been designed that way, hasn't it?

I do apologize - you're right, and I take it all back. (I was thinking that England would have to travel for their quarterfinal if they make it that far.)England is playing at Wembley on Tuesday.
No need to apologize. This format has been screwy. I’m surprised the number of “home” games UEFA has allowed hasn’t been more of a talking point.I do apologize - you're right, and I take it all back. (I was thinking that England would have to travel for their quarterfinal if they make it that far.)
Watching the goal again, it’s Dias who has his hand up yelling at the ref for a call when the ball gets switched to Hazard. Dias is distracted, so he a step slow to step out and challenge the touch and close down the space. To Hazard’s credit, he traps, takes a dribble, and the pounds the ball - he knew exactly what he wanted to do. But Dias was bitching at the ref instead of anticipating play.I’m not going to call that goal unsavable, but it was damn close. Combine the change of direction you can see on the slow motion shot from behind the net with some full speed replays to get a sense of what happened and how quickly.
