I'm sure some people will moan about the two goals but that was a pretty decent win by Arsenal against a frisky Brighton team. Even in that spell in the 70s and early 80s when Arsenal was really all hands on deck, it was because Brighton turned the volume up to 11 rather than anything Arsenal was doing.

Rosicky is still great, Flamini is still crap. More evidence for each. Alexis gives more sense of impending doom than any Arsenal player I've seen since Titi. Wasn't impressed by Akpom, he runs nice in a straight line but you never got the sense he knew what to do once he hit the penalty area. His first run was like that, and then he got a ball from Alexis that was slightly beyond his reach and didn't have the vision to see Alexis standing alone in the penalty area. Then he got that ball in injury time where he revealed he's not too hot on his left foot.

Can't wait for Gabriel, he would not have gone fishing like Monreal did for goal number two.

Great performance outside of those two goals.  Really shouldn't be giving those up.  First one was poor defense from both Flamini and Koscielny, and the second one Kos lost his man and gave him a free shot.  Still, survive and move on.  Oh, and Rosicky is the man. Hard not to wonder what his career would have looked like without all of those frequent injuries.

More than impressed with Brighton's players and coach.  I didn't expect anything from them in the second half but they came out throwing everything at Arsenal.  Between this and the other FA cup games this weekend, it's clear that there's no such thing as an "easy" draw.

I don't quite get this. Of course I'm jealous your team is still alive in the FA Cup, but that has nothing to do with the fact that ManU led the movement to devalue the FA Cup at the expense of European competitions and that sucks.

Dude, I'm joking.  Relax. But I'd love it if you could expand more on the belief that United led the movement to devalue the FA Cup.  I hope you're not talking about '99.

Hopefully Brighton's found the manager in Houghton to stabilize and re-energize the team. They've been pointing towards the PL for the past few seasons, and though it won't happen this year, here's hoping Arsenal at the Amex is an annual thing in the near future.

Of the PL top ten, 5 lost, 2 have replays, and only two won.
As of right now, theres only 9 BPL teams left in the FA Cup with Pool and United having replays and Stoke yet to play.

Could be down to as few as 6 when the next round kicks off. Fuckin wild.

99 made sense.

I don't think there's any doubt that the big 4  clubs placed less emphasis on the FA Cup in the last 10 years or so, playing weaker lineups and doing what they could to avoid replays that would tire their squad that was in a bunch of other competitions. It's understandable to a degree if not disappointing, given the history and feeling of the Cup. I had been under the impression that United was the first big club to punt it (not in reference to 99), but lord knows where I read that. I presume a source better than a message board.

Regardless, it's nice to see enthusiasm from all corners this year...the third round wasn't super exciting, but going forward looks pretty interesting.

So, I was set to attend the March 7th Derby County League match with seats in the Directors Box. Now with this draw against Reading and the 6th round being played on March 7th, that likelihood just greatly decreased.

California. Duh.
Falcao subbed off with 30 minutes to go when the Mancs are down a goal.

Doesn't say much for LVG's faith in him.

Rooney didn't interfere with the ball there, but the keeper definitely reacted as if he thought Rooney was going to deflect it back across the goal and was slow to get down.

Manchester United are awful.

I stand behind that statement even after the equaliser, by the way.

It's settled then.  They will win.  That's been their modus operandi all year long.
