Yeah I heard that, I was surprised Bedard didn't push back. He probably figured if he argued with every stupid thing Mazz said that is all he would do.

Would love to hear this asked of Felger: if the cap is crap, what is wrong with the Ravens?

Didn't he change his argument to, "The cap matters, but 'loading up'  for one year at the expense of future years is the best way to win a Super Bowl"? Which is somehow even dumber than saying the salary cap is basically pretend.

That is definitely dumber. It is so hard to win a title. Denver has been loading up for a couple years with no Lombardis to show for it. I would rather be a contender every year than have a loaded team once every 3-4 gears

So easy to say if you're a pats fan after 4 SB wins.

I never stop getting amazed how frequently callers get dumped for cursing. They're not even trying to troll the show by sneaking a word on the air. It's just a lack of self control and an inability to speak without sounding like a knuckle dragger.

I think tomorrow will have less bashing than we'd expect. But we will have them bashing Pats fans who thought the Giants wouldn't give them a good game.

On certain things, they will take their lumps and Mazz's fellow hosts will make fun of him for his criticisms of them signing Gostkowski. Mazz will make the point that it took him 10 years to make a big kick.

WIth them getting by this game, the Broncos losing (with Manning looking absolutely useless) and the Jets losing, they will get back on the subject of how boring the rest of the regular season will be and how the Pats will hardly be challenged the rest of the way (they'll completely dismiss Cincinnati as usual).

Their big hopes tomorrow and the rest of the season will be that Edelman's injury is major and that the Pats face the Giants in the Super Bowl

It's Mazz who thinks kickers are fungible, no?

Anyway, they both can suck it.
It's Mazz that gets on Ghost, saying he's overrated. It's Felger who says they never should have franchised him initially or signed him to that contract. Whenever he brings up not re-signing Revis, the first thing he says is, "They didn't have to re-sign Gostkowski, that would have given you $4M...."

And he constantly brings up the fact that he's the highest paid kicker in the league, and "Justin Tucker is just as good, and his contract is half of Gostkowski's !!!"

Well they are idiots on this point. Mazz is Mazz. Felger was a football beat writer for 10 years -- what is his excuse?

They're doing deflategate/fumble analysis today. You've been warned.
Nate Silver and the flunkies at 538 lost a ton of credibility when they created this controversy. Hard to take anything they say seriously going forward; the stats they used to "prove" their point could be debunked by most high school kids.

Did they ever fallow up on the stats? A guy called in and said they were something like 24th in the league with 9 fumbles (and they have actually only lost 4). I actually called in and asked that they look at the rank, minus Brady's fumbles, because the deflation of a ball wouldn't matter in that case and the call screener said, I'll ask them about it, but don't get your hopes up.

I looked in up, non-strip sack fumbles are at 4 for the pats for the year.

Carlton from Norwell might be the worst thing to ever happen to that radio station.

On Monday, I listened to show for literally five minutes (my podcast ended and I was a few minutes from my house) and Felger was reading Tuesday's show and how he was down in the Kimbrel trade. Did he ever explain why?

Everyone else was happy with it.

Felger was reading from the main board thread on it? The prospect-o-philes around these parts are pretty pissed off last time I checked.

Felger's take is that you don't give up assets for closers as they are too volatile you should just find them in the draft and/or scrap heap.

Did anyone point out that he is forever preaching that you shouldn't trade horses for ponies? Ergo, San Diego was the one making the mistake?

I was only half paying attention but I believe Mazz did more or less say that, essentially no one had ever heard of any of these guys before(yeah he's the baseball guy) so why not trade them for a known commodity.

This was exactly my thought as well. In the past they've killed the team for doing too little, now its that they've given up too much? There is no action that can be taken that won't elicit the contrarian response.

I saw Felger walking down the street near the Beantown Pub on Friday night. Shook his hand and told him I enjoy his show sometimes. He laughed and said thanks.

Then, I'm 99% certain he was sitting right in front of me in the balcony at the My Morning Jacket show. Rocking out and having a good time. He seemed to be enjoying himself.

What exactly happened on Friday? Sounds like Holley made some comment about Felger on D&H, then a few minutes later Felger said that everyone in the media off the record knows Brady did something, then Minihane lost his mind on twitter.

Minihane seems pretty unhinged in general. I used to think it's an act, but there seems to be something legitimately wrong with him.

Fred just said that it was Felger and talking bout him and Rich being at the same show.

Bedard gave Brady the Number One "Stud" of the game (in their "3 Up / 3 Down" game). Said he was the only QB in the league who could win that game considering the lack of open receivers, poor running attack and porous O-Line play in the passing game. Mazz, of course, chose Brady as his Number Three "Dud" of the game.

One guy re-watched the game with the All-22 film while charting each play. The other gay watched the game once in a bar with his buddies. Wonder who I should believe...

All-tell-ya-what-Mike!, all Mazz had to do after the game was listen to Brady himself. A large percentage of all offensive plays run were non-contests. Draw your conclusions from that.

Is this a new Felger and Mazz? Praising the Patriots for a gutsy, tough effort undermanned and on the road?
can't speak for Mazz (because I dont listen), but that was Felger's whole deal last night in the post game. His praise for the team's performance was effusive and sincere.

I didn't listen, but it sounds like Felger went on rampage today about the Price signing as evidenced below. Why is he using the acts or lack thereof of the prior baseball operations team as a bludgeon against the new one? I'm not really following his argument here.

“Doesn’t it shake your confidence in their plan over there, whatever it is?” Felger said. “If you’re going to spend on a pitcher who’s in and around 30 for one of those big contracts, isn’t Jon Lester the perfect guy? The perfect guy. Proves he can pitch in this town in that park, proves he can pitch in those situations, tough, durable, perfect. So the fact that you won’t sign Jon Lester tells you that philosophically, you think those contracts for those players are stupid. OK, fine. The track record and the history actually bears that out. Good philosophy! No problem. The very next year you sign someone the same age who does not have half the track record, for the highest and most expensive contract in the history of Major League Baseball at that position? You have no clue. You have no plan.”

i watched again today and big ups to Murray for saying Denver is like the 01 pats if the teams meet in the playoffs it will not be a 45-10 pats win like felger thinks
