Felger and Mazz - Creating False Naratives one day at a time

It's gotten to the point where I can't listen to Mazz at all. He always sounds like he's yelling (Gresh suffers from this too), and lately the whole "[insert topic here] SUCKS" talking point has been so beaten into the ground that I'm just not interested in hearing it. And it's too bad because even while I'd like to strangle Felger at times, he's almost always worth listening to. Mazz? Not so much.
I don't listen to the show all that much, but Massarotti's loud talking is pretty obvious on first listen. Dude just yells.

Is it my limited exposure or is 'stupid' the only adjective he uses? It feels like he sits there without an opinion when a subject comes up, Felger expresses what he thinks about it, then Tony suddenly agrees, does so passionately, stutters and stammers with all sorts of false starts and disclaimers, then settles on "it's stupid! It's absolutely asinine!" Seems like they could pretty easily repace him with a sound drop of that quote and save themselves a few bucks.

Mazz: No boot on Gronkowski makes me even more concerned that he's hurt more than the Patriots are leading on. When have the Patriots ever been forthcoming about injuries before and now you have Brady telling people he's out of the boot? I smell a rat.

The boot needs to be saved -- and eventually shoved up his ass.

Haha, wow. I hereby dub him Phony Assarotti.
Oh, poor Mazz is trying SO hard to drum up "controversy" (insert Tanguay voice here) with the Pats and no one is biting. Today was all about how somehow Gronkowski showing up to media day without a walking boot is a worse sign than if he showed up to media day with one, (I can't even begin to wrap my head around that logic) and how the Patriots have given us these "subtle messages" that they're going to let Wes Welker leave at the end of the year.

I understand that the job of a talk show host is to "stir the pot," but if you have to resort to blatantly MAKING SHIT UP during Super Bowl week in order to be provocative then that's just pathetic.

They did get JKraft to say they are going to have to pick and choose who to lock up over the next few years, though he did say the way they work contracts they can get out from others.

Heath Evans should have a full time radio gig.
Somewhat off the thread topic here but i enjoyed his candor re: the Super Bolw XLII game plan.
For those who didn't hear it, Heath said that they gameplanned for 2 weeks to run the ball. They were going to start by running right @ Strahan and go from there. He went as far as to say that, when his dad asked how much he'd be playing, he said "45 snaps". Then after some "TE things didn't work out the way we thought", they abandoned the game plan.
He sounded a bit bitter but did say that putting the onus on Brady's shoulders wasn't the worst idea.

Hey I must have missed it at the start of the week but is there a reason why Marc Bertrand is still in studio in Boston and not in Indy with "Fleger" & Mazz? It just seems strange and kinda sad when you watch him on the telecast.

Don't think shows brings their flashboy along. Meter is the only other flashboy I can think of that has a greater than strictly flashboy role and he's not in Indy either, as far as I know. Hosts get to go, producers get to go, flashboys stay home.

Basically yes. Although Wallach is there, and he's not a legit host. More of a glorified flash boy.

Romeo Crennel breaking down the game is fascinating.

Good lord, I miss Romeo. I can see why players run through brick walls for him.

have to say Felger and Mazz have had much better guests than Ordway and Holley this week
Thanks to Darnell's Son for answering my question but just to add to this, Curt Schilling was awesome today. I started to loathe him after he inked his last payday with the Sox and today he redeeemed himself with me by being so upfront with Felger and Mazz. He addressed why his popularity faultered in Boston near the end of his career after Tim Thomas's boycott of the White House fiasco was made in comparison to his support of George Dubbya and how it affected his personal life (including his wife and kids) and charities. He seems to be at peace with it but you can tell it really struck home with him. Hearing about his personal venture in his new video game that's coming out (Reckoning...getting sick reviews by major magazines and websites) also helped him in my eyes as I related to him by being a gamer myself.

And for the record, I loved Chris Russo when he was on with them! Say it with me: "Bellycheck!" (lol)

The best line was undoubtedly Felger summing up a Jacobs mumblerant with "You spread his lips and touched him?!" Watching on CSN, Mazz spit water all over the set.

Mazz was right all along, his biggest concern was defense and while that isn't the entire reason they lost, they couldn't make the big stop with the game on the line.

Mazz is a douche, but I don't think he is going to be rubbing this loss in anyone's face tomorrow.

I highly doubt the validity of this statement. He'll do his retarded "Boston" accent thing and rip the Pats. The show would be better with Felger alone.

Just don't listen. I think I'll need about 5 weeks off from sports radio.

I disagree with this. The D gave up 19 points. Easily could have been 16 if they don't let Bradshaw in. The offense didn't get it done .

And it was funny - and deserved. The "Boston" accent thing is used to mock and if it's not your brand of funny, Glen & Michael are having a rousing discussion about Cris Carter's HOF chances and how "lucky" the Giants got.

Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks. I think F&M have been a good listen today; not hyperbolic, not whining, not ranting. And no Teixeria references.

Jesus. Felger & Mazz are now blaming Giselle's presence in Brady's life for the Pat's loss. Now we're scraping the bottom of the barrel here.

Actually, they were making fun of Howie Carr who spent his whole show on the Giselle thing, giving interviews to Inside Edition and urging his callers to call her Yoko.

Felger considered it completely inconsequential and frivolous.

I know a lot of people don't like Felger, both fans and athletes, but with the rise of Comcast Sports Net and TSH he is quickly becoming one of the more (I don't really know the word for it) important maybe, sports commentators in the region and he busts his ass while building his brand. He's all over the place on CSNNE and is their go to guy for hockey, football and baseball.

He's an important enough figure that John Henry felt the need to defend himself and the organization on his show without warning and he even got a mention from one of the Bruins immediately after the Stanley Cup win, telling hit to Suck It.

It's interesting to watch after a decade of Glen Ordway.

I don't get this argument. So, we either have to listen and enjoy, even if we disagree with either their opinions or arguments, or listen to the Big Show? When we think that they're being dumbasses, we can't complain? THE FUCK? This entire subforum is pretty much calling out media members when they're stupid, lazy, or repetitive. Are we supposed to just compliment Mazz on his stupid Boston accent everytime he does it? This show is fantastic overall. However, I feel like a lot of people here wish that Mazz was replaced with someone with a spine and/or an original opinion. If you don't like what people are saying, make an actual argument, don't give us a stupid "If you don't like America, then leave" argument(see what I did there?).

Darnell, no one here has a problem with posters criticizing the show or breaking down what they are saying. I can't stand Mazz most of the time and would love to hear that he has been replaced by Bertrand, Gasper or Dan Roach (pretty much anyone other than Wiggie), he says a lot of stupid shit and is really just riding Felger's coat tails, the show is not successful because of Mazz. But there are a couple of posters that obviously can't stand anything about the show, that do nothing but drop one liners or piss and moan about everything about it and those are the folks I take exception to.

I was guilty of it a few years ago in The Office thread, a ton of people still enjoyed the show and for some reason I couldnt' stand it anymore, yet felt compelled to watch and bitch about how bad it had gotten. All I did was muddy up the thread and had to stop watching and posting because it was obvious I wasn't getting any enjoyment out of it.
