They will no longer be taking phone calls from Mike from Attleboro is my guess.

Felger would resign if they tried to force that on him.

Wiggy was bad on radio, but he was entertainingly bad.

If he gets a job as part of LeBron's entourage, I wouldn't be shocked. He did break the LeBron thing. RIP WiggyLeaks.

I wasnt a wiggy guy at all. His sports "takes" did nothing for me but...

I did enjoy the audio road show stuff at the end of his appearances...they really made laugh.

Bertrand's navel lint contains more talent, intellect, and sports knowledge than does the collective on-air employee base of WEEI.

You are a worse poster than Jerry Thornton is a comedian. That's impressive.

But how about Jerry Thornton as a sports analyst?

That's VirtualRheal territory. It took only like 7 posts for him to reach that level of suck, so whatever this JT parody/non-parody account is hasn't reached that level so quickly.

I've been down on F&M for a while, but I thought the piece they put together of callers mispronouncing names of players and hosts at 5:40pm was pretty funny.  There were a lot of classics in there.  Some of the other segments when they replayed rants and arguments with callers were not quite as good.

I'm not sure I enjoy anyone wielding the ban hammer quite as much as SJH. There's always a touch of elegance that goes with it.

Explain. Why is it "too bad"?

Please use all your writing skills. Your membership should probably depend on your ability to cogently answer. Not up to me of course, but you've had nearly a thousand posts to show something and the clock is ticking. And SJH is in the mood.

Well to be fair you can't positively say anyone from that error didn't do steroids, there is always the possibility. Felger is just saying the fact that people say "he was clean for sure" isn't fair. No one know either way for sure.

yea he does, but I don't think that is his intention but he certainly does sound to be coming off that way.

Oh, it is his intention.

And he's consistent. He says that "everyone is on something". So this latest accusation is just part of that talking point (he beats into the ground).

Kinda boring sports week. I mean, there's only so much training camp you can do in the absence of games and the Red Sox suck has been thoroughly covered. Gotta get the phones to ring and this #HOTSPORTSTAKE will generate phone calls.

Give the man his due - he knows what buttons to push to rile up NE sports fans.

Its lazy at this point.  A real easy controversial point for him to make and to reap the listening interest with.  Its too bad no one else on the show will take the obvious rebuttal role to Felger.

There are way too many yes-men to Felger on F&M.

Yeah, I've heard Felger do the "Pedro's trainer" rant before.  It pisses me off that he straddles the fence and accuses Pedro without actually accusing Pedro.  Either say you think he did something or you have no point and STFU.

He's still trying to make the connection between Brady and Conte, and bashing the media for not following up when the story broke that Brady contacted Conte when looking for a West Coast gym

Felger thinks ever professional sports player is on them.

There is no way he actually believes this because it is absurd.  I really don't give a shit about PED use in sports, and I'm sure there are plenty of players who we think are clean who aren't, but I'm sure there are plenty of players who actually are clean.

Felger saying this allows him to throw accusations at anyone he wants and then fall back on "but I think everyone is on something" which allows him to do this without much or even any evidence of any individual player being dirty.  It is a cheap, copout position to take, but one worthy of the complete troll that Felger has become.

It's a complete HOTSPORTZTAKE because look at the players he goes after: Ortiz, Pedro, Manny, now Brady. Guys that most of New England loves which turn into angry phone calls or message board posts.

It's all bullshit.

It's all bullshit.

It really is, because while 95% of this board is sophisticated enough to realize it's just a big troll job, there are thousands of nitwits who aren't.  Felger is in rarefied air in these parts, you can't escape him.  He's literally everywhere in the Boston sports media landscape.  When he spouts this bullshit, it becomes gospel to many.  It's unfortunate, and frankly irresponsible.

Deep inside Muppet Labs
Bruce Allen at BSMW puts it very well:

It is hardly surprising in this day and age of sports shock talk that hosts attempting to bring attention to themselves would attack the most revered Red Sox player of the last 30 years.

Yesterday and this morning, both 98.5 FM (Felger and Mazz) and WEEI (Kirk Minihane) made, at the very least, strong suggestions that former Red Sox ace Pedro Martinez used steroids during his playing career.

The reason for the discussion is because Martinez (along with Roger Clemens, Nomar Garciaparra and Joe Castiglione) were inducted into the Red Sox team Hall of Fame. It’s supposed to be a fun event, one for the fans, and celebrating the achievements of those who brought so many great moments for sports fans. Instead, it becomes a bash-fest.

“Everyone else” did it is the main point of “evidence” that they cite, that and Pedro’s incredible numbers and success against a league that was steroid-riddled at the time. Mike Felger is tired of everyone giving Pedro Martinez a free pass and saying that he did it clean during the steroid era.

Felger additionally cites as his incontrovertible piece of evidence, the 2002 season. The previous year Pedro had injured his rotator cuff, that offseason he worked in a gym where an accused steroid supplier/trainer also work. In the spring of 2002, Martinez reported to spring training more muscular around the shoulders as a result of having worked to strengthen the muscles around the cuff. This is Felger’s evidence.

Their reasons for these accusations are not based in any sort of crusade to find out the truth about matters. It is simply to outrage fans and and encourage cynics to call in and get emotional and bring attention and ratings.
Like I said, it is hardly surprising.

Nailed it.
