I am pretty critical of F&M as well, but I think we can all admit it has to be tough creating 40 hours of radio for this one game, which is essentially what they have to do. Even a few time they referenced it "well, there is only so many ways we can break down the Falcons pass rush"

They suck, yes. But days 9 and 10 (for them) leading up to the Super Bowl has to be brutal

I was ready to come here after the game and relent to them, admitting that the defense ultimately was nowhere as good as its stats said when it faced a good QB.

...lol, no.

I thought I wouldn't be able to listen to sports talk radio for a few weeks. The listening will be sweet from here. Although I expect it'll be WEEI for the drive home most of this week.

Yup, at 28-3 my attitude was I'm going dark on all things sports related on the radio, on the internet and in print for a week, now I'm going to soak it all in and enjoy every second of it. Can't wait to hear Carlton from Norwell tomorrow; wonder if that sackless troll will have the balls to call in and take his medicine.....................

I think Felger will be a little more laudatory today. Mazz will moan and groan about falling behind, the pick-six, run defense and chalk it up to luck and Atlanta stupidity.

I was hammered when I made that post about Felger in the post-game on CSNNE and I don't even remember making it. He's actually typically pretty good in situations like this, but I thought last night he looked miserable on the post-game and spent way too much time talking about what went wrong rather than the comeback, but it could be the scotch is clouding my recollection of how it went down.

I was sober as a judge and I can confirm your recollection. He harped on Blount (surprise surprise), including questioning why it wasn't him carrying in the winning TD. But more than talking about what went wrong in the first half, he seemed to want to focus more on how Atlanta lost the game rather than how the Patriots won it. Granted, it's probably 50/50 in terms of assigning responsibility, but the Patriots post-game show doesn't seem like the spot to be de-emphasizing what the Patriots did. Save that for the radio show when you have hours and hours to fill before pitchers and catchers report.

It goes without saying that you aren't coming back from a 28-3 3rd quarter deficit unless the other team fucks some stuff up. But let Patriot fans enjoy the win for crying out loud. I was flipping around a bunch last night to all of the post-game shows and would have liked to enjoy the local take, but Felger can fuck off.

Mike: Yes, you won the game, but let's not pretend that the first 2 1/2 quarters didn't happen.

Mazz: Totally!

Mike: And I've been telling you for years that Blount is lousy and he very nearly cost you the game. For some strange reason, people still want to call up and say "Oooh, Felger, Blount's going to be the MVP.", "Oooh, Felger, Blount's going to rush for 100 yards". I don't get it

Mazz: That fumble totally changed the game.

Mike: No one better ever call again and tell me how wonderful Blount is after he crapped all over himself last night.

Mazz: Townie accent "Yeah Felgah the Pats won two Super Bowls with Blount he's the friggin' greatest"

Look, there were plenty of guys that crapped all over themselves, Mike. Look at Gostkowski!. It could have been 2 years in a row that a missed extra point cost them the season! I have no faith in that guy. You're paying him 4 million dollars a year and he misses an extra point ...and that onsides kick? The only thing worse than that was that stupid Nate Ebner mortar kick.

Mike: That was atrocious. Atrocious. And let's not let Josh McDaniels off the hook here either,

Mazz: Oh, my God. What was he doing?

Mike: Josh McDaniels probably cost himself a head coaching job with that game plan last night.

Mazz: Look, they did a good job at the end of the game taking advantage of a gassed Atlanta defense, but for most of the game I kept waiting for them to make adjustments and they never came!

Mike: Let's run LaGarrette freaking Blount on first and second down with Tom Brady as your quarterback. You have Tom freaking Brady as your quarterback and you're giving Blount carries on first and second down in the Su-per-Bowl.

Mazz: They're really lucky they won that game and the more I think about it, the more I think it was Atlanta giving the game away than it was the Patriots making this amazing comeback.

Mike: We'll be back with your phone calls right after this.

Read My Pillow commercial telling everyone that the BBB gives them and F rating and the pillow is so uncomfortable you have to take 2 months to get used to it.

Dude, you must listen to way too much F&M because that was perfect.

I don't care if they say any of that at all. I will remember it as if they had, because their voices were in my head the entire time reading that. Bravo.

I actually think it will be mostly effusive with a dose of "Oh, we'll have plenty of time to get to how Atlanta built the lead and then gagged, but for today we're talking about the Patriots wining."

I'm listening to KFAN and all the Sals and Joes from Staten Island are all begrudgingly admitting the Patriots are the best ever. It's surreal. They've finally been beaten into submission.

Oh I'll listen today. I want to see how mad Felger and Mazz get that the Pats came back. I can see the scenario playing out as Marbleheader described it. Only with more of Felger making excuses for the Falcons. Maybe Shank and Borges make appearances to complete the Always Mad Boston Foursome

Felger is insufferable in the post-game. Fuck him,
Even Skip Bayless has an off switch from his trolling. That's the difference between him and Felger. Felger isn't entertaining because he makes controversial statements about Boston Sports Teams he's only entertaining when those teams win so you can hear his shtick about how he grew up in Milwaukee. Makes you wonder if Felger is really that big of a douche when it comes to the Boston Sports scene.

Being pretty reasonable so far. Giving credit to the Pats while also saying the Falcons coughed it up. Outright fawning over Brady.....Mazz: "what he did in the 4th quarter and OT was stupid. Absolutely stupid. I loved Montana, but he's not like this guy" Felger: "Nobody is like this guy"

And taking shots at LGBT as well.

Agreed. I wish they would go off on something like Marbleheader wrote. You had to expect the LGBT stuff from Felger though. He's been riding that train for 3 years.

Really? What happened?

Wow. Honestly, I can't imagine being that mad* at someone for something they said about an organization that I'm not apart of.

* I guess if I was young and drunk, I could be that angry.

Ok hate Felger all you want but a woman just called in whining about why Pats fans hate Roger and saying "doesn't than man have to do his jawwbbb???" and he cut her right off, "we're not opening that can of worms, not today" I appreciate him letting us revel in the glory of that amazing game last night without letting people like that bring us down. Not today indeed, Felgie.

part of the story I hear was that some young guys "17 year olds" at the party popped him...he said he didn't think it was intentional

not sure if he talked about it more during other segments, but that was the part I heard before I got out of my caar

I don't like Carlton, either, but I thought he screamed a funny line as he capitulated, "... ATLANTA FAILED TO DRIVE A STAKE THROUGH THE HEART OF THE SOULLESS DEMONS PLAYING FOR BELICHICK!..."

I liked the part where he was looking for a bridge to jump off of as he sounded like a broken man and Mazz quipped; "I know a volcano you can jump into"............................fuck that guy sideways, the fact that this win broke him makes it all the more sweeter.

For him to carry on like has over the Patriots is pathetic and his act got old ages ago; he was funny for about 5 minutes.

He calls in to the Steven A. Smith show and says the exact same things.
That act was patented by the late Butch From The Cape. If you sports-station surfed, you would her him repeat stuff nearly verbatim; he must have had a script written out.

This interview is extremely uncomfortable.

Felger now asking Cam if he's done a good job or if he's the next to be fired.

They asked him about the Bruins being the only Pro team in town not doing a weekly call-in by their coach or GM, and he said the reason he stopped the call-ins was because they were "painfull." They hammered him for that, and rightfully so. No public accountability, and he didn't seem to understand why there should be, or want to admit that there should be.

I can say Mike Felger is the only person in the Boston media who gives that interview that way and it was pitch perfect.

Neely was nervous, easily confused by basic questions related to the optics of Julien's firing, and unconvincing about the "plan". He has no idea what he's doing. Scary and clueless. This franchise is seriously adrift.

I watched it on TV and also thought Felger did a nice job. Mazz' body language suggested he was scared to death sitting next to Neely.

I'm sure you guys are aware, but Neely used to do weekly interviews last year with F&M. Each week would get increasingly more uncomfortable and ended with Neely getting pissed and dropping an F-bomb on the air. Thursday's interview was the first this season.

The problem is that I think he takes the questions too personally. He needs to learn how to come up with standard corporate responses like Farrell does. Or he can just grunt and give limited answers like Belichick. But you get the sense Neely actually lost sleep fretting over the interviews.

so hockey ops trust their PR department on communication strategy after firing Claude, but not on day-to-day media relations? got it...makes sense to me

I don't know, that's probably why Neely said to Felger that he doesn't think anyone should "have" to do radio interviews. He probably figures that is the PR departments job. Whether you agree or not, it was obvious during the season last year that Neely really let the questions get to him as the season went downhill.

Companies large and small pay reasonable money to "media train" a few key people who need it. It's not surprising that a company "run" by Cam Neely wouldn't do that. I don't listen to talk radio, but if this rundown is accurate, putting it all in Neely's lap seems accurate. The owner is a fanboy.
