Buttrey just blew Springer away with 97.
Harold Reynolds asked, "where's this guy been all year? They have him in the minor leagues?"
Not like it ultimately mattered but they let him pitch after feeling tight?Phil Rogers @philgrogers38s
Out of nowhere, likely Tommy John surgery for Michael Kopech.
Phil Rogers @philgrogersnow
Kopech reported feeling tight before start against Tigers. Went to doctor today and a UCL tear was found.
Brutal
I can't imagine they'd let him pitch with elbow tightness. I'm guessing he didn't report it until after his start. Not like it ultimately mattered but they let him pitch after feeling tight?
That’s really depressing news. He seemed as if he’d turned the corner on the road to stardom. So that makes Kopech, Espinoza and Groome in the last few years. Get it out of the way early I guess. Seems like a formality these days.
Pedroia is actually still in the Red Sox organization.Dustin Pedroia out the rest of the year
I heard this stat today:Heard this stat on MLB radio this morning:
Leader for most games in which you pitched at least 5 innings and gave up 1 run or less, 2016-2018 (or maybe it was 2015-2017, they said, “last three years”):
John Lester- 41 times.
That's what you thinkPedroia is actually still in the Red Sox organization.
Any idea what he's doing in there?Junichi Tazawa is in the Angels bullpen
Not pitching very well. Watched him the other night give up a monster blast. But good for him; have at it Taz and thanks for the memories!Any idea what he's doing in there?
A good career. I remember being really happy when he joined the Red Sox. He had a short stint and I recall that he was not a great catcher in Boston but I always liked him as a player.Victor Martinez will play his last game today and retire.

Koji didn't play for the Sox for long but he was a delight to watch. Now pitching, Uehara Koji:

Game 1 of the CLDS, they brought him in to the audible surprise of the crowd with two down and one on in the 5th, with one of Japan’s best hitters in Tetsuto Yamada coming up. Koji struck him out with a splitter in the dirt.
Awesome to see him on the hill again in person, even if it’s for the enemy.
That is a man with a future in wiffleball. Here's video of that bases-loaded, no outs situation he described.
Wow.Byung-Hyun Kim just signed with the Australian Baseball League's Melbourne Aces.

I still get him confused with John McDonald.Chris Woodward - who played in 16 games for the 2009 Sox - has been named the Rangers new manager. He is 42. Spent the last 3 seasons as the Dodgers 3B coach.
He didn’t marry John Cena. How can he see her?
Really? I was horrified when they went and got him, based on the fact that he tried to single handily win the 2001 World Series for the Yankees.Wow.
I was so stoked when they traded Shea for him. He was the piece, the starter they needed.
