Article request: the continuing problem of WR talent procurement since BB took over.

Moss was a no brainer, the Patten/Branch draft was very good, Welker was handed to us and Edelman was a good pick. Literally the rest of all drafted or otherwise acquired WRs has been anywhere from meh to disaster. Can someone do a deep dive? Who did we pas on, why did we get who we got and why does this keep happening? Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

I still get errors from time to time when I try to link to new site.

That aside, I'm confused as to what this forum is for now. The top 10 threads have 5 links to new site, a dope telling people to stop trolling, 3 team threads, and a thread about Rob Bironas.

Is all Pats related discussion supposed to be on new site?

2. there hasbeen some trolling so the dope asked people to stop trolling
3. feel free to start any threads that you want, nothing is holding you back :)

Not sure where the confusion is coming from here, man.

BbtL is the same. There are just some SoSH members that are writing articles at Football Central. Those specific members are also providing links to their articles, just as we would if we were to link articles from ESPN, DeadSpin, or anywhere else.

KFP - thank you.  That was the clearest explanation of Football Central that I have seen, so far. (DrewDawg was not the only one confused by this.)

Also, I want to echo the "Thank you for doing this" (Football Central).  I have learned a lot from the posters here, and I feel like that adds to my enjoyment of the game.  (or it would, if the actual games didn't make me want to punch a hobo...)

Of everybody involved with Football Central, I am easily the most clear and concise writer.

(Seriously, thank you for reading stuff on FC. It means a lot when people say they enjoy the site).

Can you guys do a special issue on why we suck?

In all seriousness, I'd  love it if somebody could shed light on (a) why Nate Solder has regressed so badly and (b) why we're struggling so much in the running game on defense.

Just a couple suggestions!

Hopefully, we can do that. If anyone is interested in tackling Solder, we can provide All-22 film and assistance.

And if anyone is interested in looking at the run defense, or the DLine in particular, that would be great too.

PM me if interested in writing for SoSH Football.

Lots of analysis on how that happened...but analysis takes time. And film.

Sure. It has nothing to do with your OTHER football obsession...;-)

When we start Futbol Central, you will be writing the Arsenal stuff and the Jorge Mendes profiles.

"Slammed at work" and "serial Arsenal-related procrastinator" are unfortunately compatible characterizations of my days right now. Although something may have to give soon...just not until the Galatasaray match is over tomorrow.

Hi Everybody!

We've made some significant changes to the site, specifically the menu/navigation system. Hopefully, you will find related content easier and be able to read more than one article per visit. Now that we have (as of this morning) 78 published posts, there's lots of stuff you probably missed or might want to read again. So go to the link (SoSH menu bar, far left) and click around awhile. Bengals Previews, Matthew Slater Superstar, Tackling Solder...some outstanding content in just the last 24 hours.

Praise be to Nip (and Scuba Steve Avery) for working his ass off to improve your user experience. Any feedback, suggestions or technical issues - please let us know. We aim to please.

Hmmm that's a good point. Maybe we can break out that white space on the bottom of the most recent posts into three sidebars for specific stuff like that

I'm running a Facebook experiment -

Can you guys LIKE this post. I figure that we can get a few hundred clicks to vote for someone's baby picture in a contest that we should be able to get a good amount here :) It would be a huge freaking help. Thanks, gents!

Thank you Football Central. Thank you BbtL mods and regulars pushing to step up the quality of the posts. All this is enhancing my enjoyment of Pats fandom tremendously, by understanding the game better. This is making it an awesome time to be a Pats fan.

Checking in to say that the site is awesome. The wealth of knowledge over there that spills into here is fantastic, and the articles are great. I LOVE the weekly breakdowns. You guys are doing a great job. Keep it up!

If I wasn't out of my mind with work right now, I'd love to contribute in some way, shape or form. Maybe around draft time?

Oh, and I now have no problem accessing on Chrome. I can finally browse from my laptop.

Thanks again guys. Who knew a baseball site could spawn one of the best football sites around?

I enjoy the site, good work being done there.  Here is a comment from a friend who I passed it along to.  He has no idea about SoSH except that I have some interweb friends.  He is a lawyer though, so take it fwiw.

interesting site.  not hysterical, well researched and thoughtful.  the exact opposite of nfl coverage elsewhere.

I very much appreciate FC, it is indeed a  formal representation of the great and substantive content already abundant in BBtL. I have been lurking for over a decade and in that time my knowledge and appreciation for football has leveled up continuously (as have my standards). Thanks to the team for your obvious extra effort on this. The amount & rate of quality content posting up already is staggering.

Hopefully FC does not get "monetized" too quickly and subsequently devolve into a caricature of what it is now. Great work, and Thank You!

I'd appreciate something looking at wilforks performance this season. I think if you put a poll out on the board right now it'd come up 50/50 between "Wilfork is back!" And "Wilfork has taken a step back!"

Lots of noise and dissenting opinions in game threads and other threads with some saying Wilfork looks great and some saying he is getting pushed around. To my untrained and un-coaches filmed eye he looks pretty darn good to me.

He is probably somewhere in between those two extremes. But I'd love to hear what the tape shows.

Has Chris Johnson ever been referred to as C2k? I've only ever heard it as CJ2k.

May be a nitpick but it just sticks out and for a long article of research seems out of place to get the nickname wrong and have it in the title and referenced a number of times.

No, not a nitpick - thanks for spotting it.

Nicknames are dumb. We've updated the headline(s) and text and will edit the image as soon as possible.

Can anyone do a study on Pats 4th qtr scoring? Feels like this has been a problem for some time. Or am I just imagining it? And if it is a problem, why?

This year they've scored 37 points in the 4Q and 150 in the other 3, slightly below average.  They are scoring 1.85 points per possession in the 4Q vs. 2.38 in the entire game (including 4Q).  I stripped out kneel-down possessions.

This was just number crunching, no real game analysis for situation, etc.

I just noticed the Football Central site today for the first time.  Holy cow, what a wealth of content here.  I have to ask, what are you short- / medium-term goals here?  Are you looking to advertise broadly, or is are you still in beta / limited distribution model for now?  There are only a handful of sites that have content of this quality, and they tend to link to each other frequently, so a couple of mentions in the right places could start to drive a lot of traffic in your direction.

I used to keep in touch with some folks in that community -- not close relationships, but people who would recognize my name -- so let me know by PM if this is the right time to start spreading the word more widely.

LOL yeah all that I'm a benevolent overlord of is my Minecraft village :)

With that said, I don't think we've really decided on anything except 1. Its only worth talking about when it becomes something worth talking about and 2. Monetization is something that many sites get very, very wrong.

Right now its a labor of love and I believe that the results speak for themselves.

Congratulations to Brian (named), as well as Jeremy and Chuck (linked directly). Almost every writer for FC has a link within those pieces and it is the "quality" in all our coverage that got FC recognized.

ETA: How could I forget? Praise be to James, for working to spread the word and get new readers. And Praise be to Pedro. Because it's Pedro.

We've redone our menu system again based on feedback that we've gotten.  Take a look around when you get a chance and let us know if the new menu layout makes finding what you are looking for a little easier.  And if there is anything else that we can tweak to make it cleaner for you, let us know.
