What happened to DeBrusk on that extended d zone time? Thought he got his cage rattled and didn’t seem like a puck to the ankle but I admittedly wasn’t watching closely enough.

The replay showed a puck to the knee area.

Toronto was essentially a top 6 team in NHL. Not sure I really buy underperformance
Exactly. Not sure if their at-times poor play was self inflicted or because Toronto was just really really really fast. Or both?

Tim attacked the break aways. Tuukka is long side to side. If the D gives Tuukka held we’ve got this.

Wait, you think they underperformed against Toronto? Unlucky, yes, but they beat the piss out of a really good team.

Please explain.
They came within a game 7 final period of losing to Toronto - not sure how that translates to"beating the piss" out of them. Yes, I agree, Toronto is very good but the B's are better, had a better regular season record, and had the home advantage in the best of 7, yet struggled to win the series. To me, that's underperforming

It ain't beating the piss out of them, but it isn't underperforming either. Toronto was within a hair's breadth of Boston most of the season and won the season series. I would say beating them is performing just about right. Winning in 5 or less would have been overperforming, frankly.

Because if you watched the games you would realize Toronto (one of the best teams in the East, mind you) outplayed the B’s for like 1 or 2 games. Sometimes the playoffs are hard.

Man am I glad that I'm not in charge of the decision making around Rick Nash. As he said after the game, he does seem to score goals in bunches. May it continue.

I expect the rule regarding goalie skates to be changed in the offseason. A skater who breaks a blade can make it to the bench. A goalie who breaks a blade doesn't have that option.
I would hope so. I think they got the call right within the written rules last night, but it was stupid nonetheless. Ultimately, it pissed Rask off, and an emotional Rask is an engaged Rask, and he was awesome.

That might end up becoming a huge advantage for triggering Rask on a run. My biggest issue with Rask is when he's indifferent. Now he's pissed off, and is talented enough to shut out elite teams (see: 2013 ECF).

I loved him throwing the blade like a fucking throwing knife. I know it was highly dangerous and all that, but he's fun when he's pissed off.

He's fun, but they could well have given him a misconduct penalty for throwing the blade. He's got to be careful.

I think deep down the refs knew that the no call was eminently unfair, even if within the scope of the rules as written. The rules as written are bullshit.
