Enough is enough. Life is shit now. Covid, Russia, Getting laid off from your job of 16 years tomorrow, End of Roe vs. Wade....this is the start of the turnaround. Led by our personal jesus/chuck norris/brick wall/huggy bear incarnate Jeremy Swayman. I've never started a game thread in my life, lurking since 2003, so fuck your rules.

So all this talks about Forbort, Foligno, Fredrick being in the lineup for toughness is all a bunch of bullshit. Why play them if they are going to do nothing while our stars get run?

I'm fully on board with this thread.

Start running them.

This is going to much tougher without Lindholm, but they whipped the 4th-in-the-NHL-in-goalsd-scored Caps in last year’s playoffs with Grzelcyk, Clifton and Riley on the back line. This can be done.

I'm actually curious to see what impact Reilly has on the offensive zone woes. He can certainly move the puck well and might be an upgrade over Lindholm there. The only downside is that he might be a liability on defense. We'll see.

If they can get even average goaltending, they have a shot to turn the series around. They weren't getting that in games 1-2.

Yeah, I don't think defending in the traditional sense is a problem with or without Lindholm. The problem in the first two games was offense and goaltending. Ullmark is 19th of 20 playoff goalies alowing 3.61 goals above expcted.

They really need to score first tonight. Get a little bit of momentum, get the crowd feeling good, and get Carolina on their heels.

Wagner appears in. Scoring woes solved!

Marchand - Bergeron - Pastrnak
Hall - Haula - DeBrusk
Nosek - Coyle - Smith
Foligno - Lazar - Wagner

Reilly - McAvoy
Grzelyck - Carlo
Forbort - Clifton

Swayman

Edit: Pasta is on the Bergy line and DeBrusk is on the 2nd line.

After careful and thorough analysis, Sway mode will produce superior goaltending vs. non-sway mode (see below). 2022 Conn Smythe Winner Jeremy Swayman is insulted by the mention of average goaltending in his presence.

Andy Brickley's potty mouth
They need to figure out a way to slow Carolina down and beat them up a bit. Score first (and hopefully second) and start to play a suffocating and physical game.

Hope is the theme of this game. As in, hope for Carolina injuries and good goaltending.

Wagner over McLaughlin is…questionable.
I can't find any stat that says McLaughlin is good. Now it is interesting to put in a guy who's played 1 NHL game this year but I'm also not going to pretend swapping out 4th line non-special team wingers is going to make a material difference on the Bruins ills this series.

Would be nice if the Refs actually let them play a physical game... but we'll see...

If you are already down 3 or 4 goals cause of a bunch of penalties... because the refs are penalizing you for ticky tacky stuff (first two penalties in game 1 as perfect example of how light the calls were at time) it does matter.

I think he can shoot. The 4th line has been awesome at creating chances, dreadful at finishing them. Maybe McLaughlin has the puck on his stick in one of these scoring chances and puts it in.

It's a hail mary, but I think one with higher upside than running Wagner out there.

Nosek-Lazar are pretty good together. I'm a little concerned that without Nosek on the 4th line, the wing opposite Foligno wont matter. I suppose they see booting Frederic and Foligno to the 9th floor as too much beef loss.

Where's the beef though? If they were do...stuff that would be great. But they're not opening the ice up and not fucking shit up down low so they're not doing much of anything. It's frustrating.

Foligno is basically post concussion broken down Backes without the ability to take an occasional punch which Backes was willing to do likely against Dr. orders. He brings "Veteran presence" on a team filled with veterans. I wonder what the VOVP is when you have more than 10 playoff veterans already on the roster.

In his few NHL games, McLaughlin has showed he can finish. But I suppose it’s Wagner over McLaughlin because Wagner has played 56 playoff games (7-1-8) in his career.

Bruins shot % in two games is 4.1. Pastrnak is 0 for 13. Somebody — or somebodies — has to finish tonight. Home ice should help for sure.

For those of us out-of-market folks it's on TNT tonight, thank goodness, I really did not want to hear more insufferable inanity from Ray Ferraro.

Fortunately, not called. I think it just ended up being a bad change (though I confess I don't know where it crosses over from a stoppage to a penalty).
As a casual fan, it strikes me as an omen that they're not laser focused tonight like I expected. Oh well, hope it's just a one off.

Nice to see the ice is so good that guys keep wiping out less than 3 minutes into the game...

This is one of the more uninspiring starts for a home team down 2-0 in a series I can remember. The bourbon I’ve been drinking since 430 isn’t helping but still I think I have a valid point.
