Depends on the severity of the fracture and the location. If he requires any type of wiring or inter maxillary fixation, I would be shocked to find an oral surgeon that would sign off on him playing. Given how his mandible was positioned, he likely fractured the body of the mandible. Hopefully he didn’t fracture the condyle (part of the TMJ complex)
Would a team doctor have held him off for dental reasons? Just saw the play for the first time, so my first guess is mandible frac, but my pleasepleasepleasegodletthisbeit second guess is a little molar rearrangement.

It is when your 2nd line isn't doing anything,

and you mean 11, right?
Yeah whatever. Point is the line ice time generally stays the same but the center ice time increases. So this works if you want all the centers to get more time. And take time away from the 4th line, who’s been great outside of tonight.

I think he'd play without several teeth. But I think the blood flow - from whatever the injury - was uncontrollable. But Jones made the point about Z not talking at all and now that has me spooked about a fracture.

Some do, but even the ones that do seem to wear flimsy top-row guards. I believe Chara used to be one of those guys, in fact.
I think the whole point is to guard against concussions not protect teeth per se (soften the blow of teeth hitting each other when you chomp down on a big hit)

Harder to breathe, for one. There's a reason you have to change every 30 to 50 seconds - it's an extraordinarily taxing game on one's wind and legs. Once those are shot, the brain starts to go pretty quickly too, and the decision tree becomes a shrub. I hate mouth guards.

Similar to icing, these guys have no grasp of how to actually call it, but it's supposed to be called when you have puck possession, or the puck hits one of your players, and there are six skaters on the ice
I feel like I saw that happen twice tonight.
