If I heard him correctly, Bergy said that he was made to leave the ice not because he was leaking, but because they had been forced to stop play due to his injury. That makes sense.

LOL this was a day game? I guess this means I'm not allowed to watch anymore.

I honestly can't believe they are still in this after the first two games. I admit it, I lost faith. Sports are weird, man.

What a huge gut check weekend for the boys. So many reasons to pack it in and they came out and turned this around. Huge credit to both the top line and Cassidy for it as well. Don’t take this for granted.
Yup. This is true.

Chicks dig scars

The goalie interference ‘I woulda bet my life on this’ is comical. Puck was free, Bs slapped it home, Canes guys are shoving Bs in
He's delusional there, as its was his own guy's stick on the goalie's pad, but he agreed all the other CAR penalties were legit.

Brinda mour's Reche Caldwell eyes creep me out.

On the replay, I think it is Pesce that uses his stick to pull Raanta’s pads

They could have easily been down 3-1 with McAvoy out and the ice tilting away from them a bit, but they got it to 2-2. They also did it with some quality work.

They couldn’t buy a goal and gave up some easy ones, but played kind of decent in Games 1 and 2. That’s why I kept faith. I think the most discouraging thing was losing Lindholm. Turns out we got some D despite all the bitching about Gryz, Carlo and Forbort.

Close series still, but Bruins seem to have found their legs.

I disagree. They played well in spurts in Game 1 and 2 but the Canes did a lot to reduce dangerous chances. For example, they had a good 1st period in Game 1 then got shots but all were on the outside and not very dangerous.

I'm right with you. All season long, Carolina absolutely dominated the Bruins, including the first two games of this series. Just total, utter domination. And now, just like that, it's an even-steven series and the Bs have all the momentum. Crazy.

Are there specific racial incidents in DeAngelo’s past? I know he has general right wing views, but wondering about Marchand’s comments. Not, at all, trying to V & N this thread. And if this isn’t appropriate to ask here, apologies in advance.

He is a big MAGA guy who was suspended multiple times in juniors for violating the league's policy to keep racist, homophobic and sexist language out of the game. He also got punched out by his teammate (Kreider) for being a shithead.

Thanks. Good grief. Didn’t necessarily need any more motivation to want to kick their asses, but that definitely adds a log or two on the fire.
He gave K’Andre Miller so much shit that the Rangers had to release DeAngelo even though he’s a really good player. That’s the only reason why Carolina got to pick him up for nothing.

It makes me wonder what Ethan Bear thinks of him, since he’s on a big ad campaign to end racism in hockey up here (Bear is one of the few First Nation players in the league, and the ad includes a shot of him with his name written in Cree).

Didn’t DeAngelo get in a fight with Gheorgiev (sp?) in the tunnel right after a game, too? Sounds like he was on the job 24/7, being the worst that he could be.

Series thoughts:

1. stunning turn of events. If you told the Canes after they picked the B’s apart in games 1, and 2, that the B’a are going to be without Lindholm for game 3, and Lindholm and McAvoy for Game 4, and that they were switching goalies, I think they all would have assumed the series never goes back to Raleigh, let alone going back 2-2.

2. of all things, the B’s power play has kept them in this series. Great job on both ends of the special teams. Without it their season is already over, because..

3. Carolina is really having their way in 5v5.Puck possession , time in offensive zone, shot creation, cycling. They need to stay out of the box.

4. Carolina’s goaltending situation is what may cost them the series. They are probably even and maybe deeper up front and given todays D lineups they are demonstrably better on D, but the goaltending today and Friday was just awful. They may need to go get Freddie, healthy or not.

5. Bergeron is just such a great leader. Takes his teammates to a higher level. Incredible career.

6.My head still says Canes in 6, as Carolina may get rolling at home offensively, but Carolina thought this series was over 48 hours ago, and recent playoff history has not been kind to them. If the B’s can survive the first period and get a lead on Tuesday night, we will see what Carolina is made of.

That's the incident that precipitated Kreider stepping in and punching him.

The stick throwing was one of the most immature responses I've ever seen on a NHL rink. If I had a mite do that I would bench them. I also blame the refs in part because they were letting him get away with murder after the play. He had a full out hissy fit after his cross-check and they let him just smack Lazar over and over. Rather than give him 5 and 10 and send a message, they looked the other way.

Between here and everywhere.
The B’s need to target him early and often in game 5, and hope he has a Justin Williams-esque meltdown.

He was on tilt almost the entire game yesterday. A big hit early, and some pointed chirping could cause him to lose it.

Marchand is on it! Can't think of a better guy for the job.

Marchand downplayed the exchange after the Bruins’ win.
“There wasn’t much of an exchange,” he said. “I didn’t even know he was around. He kind of just came out of nowhere. So there wasn’t really much of an exchange. Just saying, ‘Hey, how was your Mother’s Day.’”

is this true?
In the case of expected goals, no. For five-on-five play, the Bruins are up 6.68 to 5.01. They carried play in the first two games - about 59% and 70% of expected goals in those. The problem was that Ullmark was ultimately underwater on actual vs. expected goals.

I also think that both teams play conservatively (and sometimes cede possession as a result) when they have a lead. Yesterday was a good example, the Bruins went up by two after Pasta's goal, and decided to play a much more defense-first game. The result was a 40% xGF third period.

That’s why I’ve been looking at the xGF% at 5v5 score/venue adjusted, but I’d love to hear what those more inclined to understand advanced stats have to say about it.
