Enough with the handwringing about pro-Taranna bias and bitching about refs. This one is squarely on the B's. Protect the Japanese vehicle on Wednesday and move on.

The Bruins blew a 3-0 series lead and a 3 goal lead in that Game 7, and it’s brought up approximately never.
I live in Canada. This would be talked about forever. TSN will never stop talking about it.

Also, the bruins blowing that series is brought up to me quite often. Very annoying being around Montreal & Toronto fans 24/7. They better frikkin win Wednesday.

I was also talking about bruins leafs game 7 2013. Not bruins blowing 3 goal lead in 2010.

Absolutely not. They’re a young team who over exceeded expectations this year.

The only change in the off-season should be the continued development of Charlie, Jake, Pasta, Carlo, Kuraly, and the additions of Forsbacka-Karlson, Senyshyn, Bork, and others
They could really use an upgrade at D but I don’t know if they have the cap space to make it work. Zboril and Lauzon probably not quite ready to start next year. Maybe Carlo’s late season surge was real but I’m hesitant to count on him coming back from injury, he was inconsistent to begin with (which is expected he’s still young).

Probably deserve this after not showing up against fucking Florida.
Yeah this is the one. Losing in the playoffs happens. The other team is trying really fuckin hard. No-showing an important game against a team that already has its vacations planned? Hurts.

Oh, and Donato - who should be in on Wednesday.

Fuck you if you are out on this team. This team has been a pleasure to watch and exceeded all expectations. Most of us barely had them making the playoffs this year.
That's why I literally want to smash shit. All the great things they did this season and they're playing right when it matters. I've loved watching this team. They can't go out like this.

Toronto is not winning the Cup. The Bruins are the only team that they match up well against, and they are the only team in the East that really matches up well against the Bruins. Any other team and the B's are probably at home resting for the next series right now, instead the NHL has a dumb playoff system and the Bruins opted to rest in game 82.

And now we all get to be stressed out on Wednesday, so that's fun.
This is an interesting take .. as a Leafs fan the LAST team I wanted to face was the Bruins. Basically because our defence is weak when fore checked - which is the Bruins strength.

The only other team in in the conference I didn't want to face was the Penguins.

No shit, I’m saying the 2010 series was much worse and nobody gives a shit about it. The fact that you surround yourself with idiots who do is a personal issue.

That was the best defensive game Toronto has played, and Andersen was hot.

I like our chances back home in Boston. The Bruins will be flying, the puck luck will come, and Toronto’s defense won’t be as good on the road.

Unless you go on to win the title or at the very least reach the Finals it doesn’t mean shit what you do in any round before it. Period.

Between here and everywhere.

Between Carlo, Krug, Gryz, Charlie, and hopefully one of Johansson, Lauzon, or Zboril they are young enough of D. Just need to give the kids some time to grow. This team overall is filled with young talent who is still 2-3 years from all being in their prime.

That's the frustrating part. It's not like they aren't generating chances and getting outplayed. They're playing really well offensively but not finishing. They badly, badly need to get the 1st goal tomorrow and generate some confidence.

Every Leafs fan ever would be making fun of us & our laughter over their choke in 2013 would be gone. I don’t want to stop making fun of Toronto fans.
“Hey did you make it out of the second round? Did you win the Cup? Did you even get there?”

See how that conversation goes if they sill feel good about the disaster that has been their franchise.

You realize that the Bruins had a 3-1 series lead, blew it, went down 4-1 in game 7 in the 3rd, and won right? It was the hockey equivalent of that commercial where the guy has the dollar on the fishing hook and the girl trying to reach it. They'll never forget that.

Please, leave Donato on the ninth floor. A seventh game is no place for a kid who’s played less than a month of pro hockey and has no physical game.

I agree longterm and I don’t want to sacrifice that but the first line is the best in hockey now and who knows how long Bergeron’s health lasts. If they can add a top 4 D as a bridge they’re a legit contender next year without relying on a leap from the prospects.

Yeah a ‘67 chant is really effective for Leafs fans, considering the best thing in most of their current lifetimes generally involves Wendel Clark, Darcy Tucker, and/or Mats Sundin

A goalie played well against them and they're folding like a tent. Need some big changes if they lose Wednesday.
This seems a little overboard. The team is in good shape for the future here. Just the way the stupid playoff format is and the fact they didn’t try hard the last game of the season cost them.

As a Leaf fan. I was going to stay out of this but this remark has prompted me to reply. In recent years there is no doubt the team has not been good. But I have watched the Leafs win four Stanley Cups. I have watched the Bruins win three. Toronto has won 13 Stanley Cups and they are one of if not the most financially successful teams in the League. Even when they were bad, the fans sold the rink out every game. They are far from a disaster franchise.
May the team that plays best on Wed. win!

Even worse is how the first two games of this series they kicked the shit out of the Leafs, which has made the sudden futility all the more enraging.

Counterpoint: Tommy Wingels standing all alone in the slot and almost shooting it into the safety netting.

Point taken, but I’d prefer Heinen over Donato or Wingels. He was fifth in scoring on the Bruins this season, he can win puck battles, he can set up plays, and he can score. Even though Heinen doesn’t bring much physically, the Wingels Experiment should not be repeated.

Didn't Toronto's coach change up their lines after Game 2? It's been a much different series since he did and the Leafs are 3-1 in that span. To me, that's the issue: Cassidy doesn't know how to counterpunch against that change with his personnel. If he doesn't figure it out in the next few hours or so, that becomes the offseason focus: the inability to make adjustments to the opposition's adjustments.

I'm literally at a loss for words the this is going to game 7. This series is all about Toronto with all the luck and the Bruins with none. It should have been 3-0 after the first.

It's fun watching guys get pushed off the puck in front of the net all night and not be able to clean up rebounds.

Anderson has a horseshoe up his ass.

The fact that they've had a crazy shot disparity with that change in lineups..hit a ton of posts and had a goalie stand on his head tends to make me think that a lot of this has been blind luck more than anything.

edit: Ok not in Toronto, but def in Boston. And 'blind luck' is overstating it.

Solid post. Agree! Still, I want the B’s to beat the Leafs’ stupid Canadian faces.

Or Heinen and Wingels in, Acciari and Donato out. I like Acciari, but he doesn't look healthy. If he's not hitting people every shift, he's not worth having in the lineup, and he's not doing that. The only argument I see for Donato is that they're going to roll 3 lines 5v5, and make the 4th line special teamers and rotation guys. They haven't done that all year, and it'd be a ballsy move to start now.

Heinen is just such a superior player to someone like Wingels or anyone on the 4th line though. This is the first real qualm I've had with Cassidy. He was playing like he was protecting a 1 goal lead tonight, not a 1 game lead. Gotta think he goes back to what got them here in game 7.

Let's not underestimate Kadri's influence and pushing everyone down a line.

I won't bury the team yet, but 3 more years of Krejci at $7M+ and Backe at $6M is going to hurt if they can't produce in the playoffs. There's really not many other bad contracts on the team (maybe Chara?), but more importantly for immediate purposes, they need production from their expensive forwards. Marshy had 6 SOG, Bergy had 5 SOG, Rick had 4, and no one else had more than 2. I'm not saying that's a bad statistic (because I thought DeBrusk had another great game), but it does reflect that the team as a whole is struggling.

I'm going out of my depth here, but Krejci had 4 iCF (individual Corsi For events) and Backes had 2. For comparison, Pasta had 10, Bergy and Marshy had 8 each. Rick had 7 and Krug had 5.

Chara doesn’t have a bad contract, and I’m surprised anyone is close to “burying” this team; this team that put up a 112 point season with a +56 GD while integrating 8 players with 0-1 years of NHL experience.
