Holy shit the Bruins are playing a game 7 for the Stanley Cup. I already have ridiculous butterflies. I am going to be less than useless tomorrow and a quivering mess by 8:00.
I'm already a complete wreck.

Together we stand. Anyone else gonna be in the Garden other than me and PBDWake? Sully's beforehand is a foregone conclusion.

I'll ask the inevitable "What bar in Boston should I watch this?" question. Boston Sports Grill is my normal pregame but their TVs blow. Sully's will be a mad house. I'm willing to go as far as Fanieul Hall. I have no problem getting somewhere 3 hours early to get a great spot to sit for the game.

I just told my wife that I wasn't going...but I am having second thoughts. Any guess on the cost? I was thinking $25 GA but I am guessing more likely $50.

Sidenote: How the fuck did they allow Raymond to skate off the ice with such a serious injury to his spine?
If someone who was there last night could describe the sequence of the chants when Raymond went down. Seemed like it went to Let's Go Bruins when the seriousness of his injury was realized. Not exactly a proud moment when the guy's immobile and the Flopper chants came cascading down in unison.

Outside of Sonny McLeans... any other good Boston bars in LA you gents know off?

Not for me, but a colleague is stuck out there and freaking out. Sonny's may be TOO crazy.

I will be - once again - at home, alone, pants off, drinking Captain Lawrence DIPA - hopefully with my wife roasting chicken again

I heard a "bullshit" chant, maybe "flopper" was elsewhere in the arena?

I have no problem with it being chanted in the heat of the moment. They've been a despicable team to play against, and whenever one of them goes down, you have to assume a dive. It just sucks that one of their only honest players was victimized by some shit luck and was indeed seriously injured.

Why not the Garden if that's an option? I can't think of a better place in Boston to watch that game.

Making the trip up from NYC is tempting, in fact.

Booze might be a factor.
Drink up in advance. They'll be open for biz at the Garden, right? I know that the prices in the Garden are high but with the low admission cost, to me the delta between Garden pricing and bar pricing would be well worth it. What could be better than watching that game with thousands of crazed Bs fans?

I still can't believe there's a Game 7. I am an absolute wreck today and the game isn't even until tomorrow. I might not make it.

No matter what happens tomorrow, this has been an amazing ride and I love this team unconditionally. I know they will come out and put up a worthy effort tomorrow, the only question is if they can get a couple past Luongo early to shake him at home. It's going to be an incredible night, and one I'll remember forever no matter what.

All of that said, they better goddamn win the game.

No idea. T&R were discussing this when it was still up in the air and they weren't sure of this. SO MANY QUESTIONS SO FEW ANSWERS!!!!!

The Night I Faced Old Mark Recchi
( Or the Night I lost Game Seven)

by Roberto Luongo

Yes, I’m the one who stood in goal,
Facing pucks he hurled at me.
Yes, I’m the lad whose job it was
To stop the Great Recchi.

I tried my best but failed the test,
For the record shows that he
Scored 14 goals in a single game,
And all of them on me.

Oh dear, oh my, it was a catastrophe!

They cheered him loud, they cheered him long.
It was quite a sight to see.
Each time he scored, the more they roared,
“You’re our hero, Mark Recchi.”

I stood there shaken, looking on,
The victim of his spree.
Oh yes, he scored those 14 goals,
It was easy as could be.

I wish he’d done it somewhere else,
And on someone else—not me!
When he tired, his mates took up the slack
Till the score reached 23.

Oh dear, oh my, it was a catastrophe!

Someday, when I’m old and grey
With my grandson on my knee,
I’ll tell him of the night I faced
The mighty Mark Recchi.

I’ll tell him of his blazing shot
And his boundless energy
And how he played with one bad eye—
Why, the old man could hardly see!

But his scoring touch was a gift from God,
At least, that’s my philosophy.
I’ll talk about Lord Stanley’s Cup
And how it slipped away from me

Because of one hockey’s greatest stars,
Old, old Mark Recchi.

( With apologies to the Great One-eyed Frank McGee)

I fully agree with this. I'm a wreck today and shudder to think about tomorrow, let alone Thursdee.

And despite my kicking and screaming and angry histrionics at times, I love this team. I hate Clod but I love this team. They're an easy team to root for.

Win it for Horton. Win it for TSC and all the other Bruins fans overseas. Win it for Savard.

To continue with the "good-out-of-town-viewing-bar" idea, anyone know of a good place to watch in DC?

Edit to add: if you want to get your hate up for Vancouver fans (non-Sprowl category, obv) for being as whiney and bitchy as the team, go here: http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=925421

Save for the Red Sox first world series title and defeating the Yankees in 2004 there is nothing else that I have wanted more than this. Please win this game, I can't begin to decribe how awesome it will be to see the Bruins skating the cup around the ice tomorrow night. I want to see Mark Recchi get the cup handed to him after having played his last game in the NHL, what a great moment that will be.........WIN!

They just need to come out and give the world the deets about this viewing party if they're going to do it or the official rejection of the idea. I'm ready to come down and go to the Garden and all I need to know is if it's happening.

If Rhino is still open on M Street in Georgetown, that's a great option. Of course, the Metro doesn't get there, but it's a solid bar in a fun part of town.

From what I'm reading on Twitter it seems like the Garden will be open. Latest word is that they're working on the details. When they had similar viewing parties in Vancouver tickets were $10 and the money went to charity. If I can get a ticket I'll certainly be there.

I used to don freshly washed Brad Park, Pete Peeters, or Randy Burridge jerseys to watch (not attend) every B's game. It's time.

win, lose or draw, this team has earned unconditional love. they are clearly not the most talented team in the league, but i believe that they will prove tomorrow night that heart and make-up and smarts can overcome that gap in talent.

I rarely post in here (as if you needed me to tell you that), but there is no way I'm not making at least one post in an honest to god, Stanley Cup Game 7, Bruins gamethread.

I didn't start watching the Bruins regularly until the '90 playoffs, and it felt weird for me when they advanced to the Cup Finals. I remember thinking, I'm jumping on the bandwagon of a perennial playoff team going to their second SCF in 3 seasons. There is no way I've suffered enough with this team to truly appreciate watching them win it. It took all of one game to get my first real taste of NHL heartbreak, with the 3OT loss in game 1. They went on to lose that series, as we know, in 5 games. I was back at it for game 1 of the '90-'91 season, and all of the 20 seasons since, and I can say with certainty that we've all endured the appropriate level of suffering in that time. There is plenty to go around from just the previous 3 seasons. 7 game loss to Montreal, Scott Walker, choke job. We've lost it almost every way you can, now the only thing left to do is win the thing. Could there be a better way to do that than by ripping the hearts out of a biting, taunting, diving, cheapshotting villain on their ice? For the love of all that's good in the world, do it tomorrow.

The Canucks are not built like you want a Stanley Cup team to be. They're more comfortable in the fetal position with their hands over their faces than they are standing up and battling in a high pressure situation. They don't want any part of the kind of game the Bruins can bring, so they've got to bring it, just once, in Vancouver to send them home empty handed, no doubt slumped over expecting a penalty the whole way.

Here
I don't know who Stu Hackel of SI is, but he had this to say on Boychuk's hit:

It could easily have been a minor for holding or interference or roughing, but it went unpenalized as the league continues to “let the boys decide it,” which is a euphemism for allowing lots of illegal play. For those keeping score, that’s two fractured vertebrae caused by Boston defensemen in recent months

http://www.theprovince.com/sports/Time+cull+calls+phantom+calls/4941510/story.html

Why has the Vancouver offence gone dry?

Lots of reasons, but Mason Raymond being carted off to hospital after the opening faceoff on Monday's late hit by Johnny Boychuk with no puck near, and no call, is a pretty good place to start. Raymond, in a vulnerable position, had his spine driven into the boards.

"We all thought it was a penalty but the referee says he [Raymond] lost his edge," said Henrik Sedin.

Stated simply, the Bruins can virtually do anything to any Vancouver player with total impunity until after the game is won.

At that point, they get their fair share of penalties. They can do anything to any Vancouver player after the whistle while it's still a game and nothing is called unless there is a flagrant retaliation by the Vancouver player. At that point, both infractions are called. Boston gets lots of penalties late, with the game decided, to make it look like they might even be getting shafted in total calls. But that's familiar NHL pattern.
Holy christ, I want their city to burn.

This will surprise most people.

After last night, Tomas Kaberle leads all Bruins defensemen in playoff scoring.

Only blathering pissants who don't realize they lost this series the second they stepped on the ice in Game 3, that's who.

I spent the day in the Vatican and fist-bumped no less than 3 Bruins fans who, like me, were no doubt trying to rack up last minute brownie points with Jeezo. There were no Canadians there, because Canadians are heathens and pagans and Celine Dion fans. Heathens are bad. Smite the fucking heathens. This is a motherfucking holy war. Kill them all.

The cradle of the game.
September 22nd to June 15th is a helluva long road to come up 60 minutes short - it's going to be one helluva crazy, frantic, tense, game, either way. (And either way, I'll get my life back on Thursday.)

I'm having a real hard time believing LuBrongo can just turn it on at will and I have no respect for or confidence in anyone so acutely affected by the environment in which he plays. Based on the recent track record, Vancouver has to be favored, but having that schizoid in net means a Bruins blowout win just as likely.

Today, I've gotten goosebumps each time I remind myself of the simple fact that the Boston Bruins can win the Stanley Cup tomorrow. In other words, I'll remember this game for the rest of my life. How often do we get to say that?

C'mon boys. One more.

Kaberle has also been very good moving the puck through the neutral zone on his own throughout this series. Gonna need that tomorrow.

While I'm not too far away and I would love to go to a potential Garden Party I don't think I would. The atmosphere would be amazing but this is Game Seven and I need to see it...I mean really see and hear every second of it with my face as close to the screen as humanly possible like how I used to watch TV when I was a kid. I want to remember everything about this game forever.

I'm getting chills just thinking about what could happen about 30 hours from now.

Just asked a buddy of mine who's been in LA for a few years now. He says Sonny's is the only "Boston" bar in LA, but any Cabo Cantina or Barney's Beanery will have the game on and will have good happy hour specials. I've been to one of the Cabo Cantina's with him and there were a ton of TVs and being game 7 of the SCF, I'd imagine it would have #1 billing (with sound). I'm sure Sonny's is going to be packed, so if your colleague isn't interested in getting there 3 hours early to get a good seat, I'd give one of those spots a shot.

I haven't been this excited about a Bruins team or a particular game since 1988. In fact, I have the same butterflies and feeling about tomorrow night's game as I did with this one:

Bruins-Canadiens 1988 Adams Division Finals Game 5. What I wouldn't give to hear Fred Cusick call tomorrow's game.
