Okay, so who remembers this game 7 winnah:

I used to don freshly washed Brad Park, Pete Peeters, or Randy Burridge jerseys to watch (not attend) every B's game. It's time.

Don't remember that one (I was 4), but I was there for this one:

If someone who was there last night could describe the sequence of the chants when Raymond went down. Seemed like it went to Let's Go Bruins when the seriousness of his injury was realized. Not exactly a proud moment when the guy's immobile and the Flopper chants came cascading down in unison.
Pretty immediate "Bullshit!" chant. I wish his vertebrae weren't fractured, but it's tough for me to care too much about the chant itself. See generally "Wolf, Crying."

I need to be in Boston for this game. I think I'm gonna make the trek up from Allentown, PA. I'd love to catch up with a few of you goons when the Bruins make it happen.

"Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?"

Only blathering pissants who don't realize they lost this series the second they stepped on the ice in Game 3, that's who.

I spent the day in the Vatican and fist-bumped no less than 3 Bruins fans who, like me, were no doubt trying to rack up last minute brownie points with Jeezo. There were no Canadians there, because Canadians are heathens and pagans and Celine Dion fans. Heathens are bad. Smite the fucking heathens. This is a motherfucking holy war. Kill them all.

Isn't it the Mexican border that Pagans are crossing to commit acts of terrorism?

I know some probably won't care about this, but anybody remember the moon the night the Sox won the World Series in '04? Well, if you find meaning in these kinds of things, the moon is going to be full again tomorrow night, June 15th.

Jack, I like to know shit like this, thanks for pointing it out.

I can clearly remember that 2004 moon. This and Horton being in Van all bode very well.

Yes, but where are Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore? Are they in Vancouver by any chance?

Just asked a buddy of mine who's been in LA for a few years now. He says Sonny's is the only "Boston" bar in LA, but any Cabo Cantina or Barney's Beanery will have the game on and will have good happy hour specials. I've been to one of the Cabo Cantina's with him and there were a ton of TVs and being game 7 of the SCF, I'd imagine it would have #1 billing (with sound). I'm sure Sonny's is going to be packed, so if your colleague isn't interested in getting there 3 hours early to get a good seat, I'd give one of those spots a shot.
There is a bar called "South" about 1/2 mile up the road from Sonny's on Wilshire that was opened by some of the former Sonny's crew after it changed ownership last year. I havent been, but heard it is solid. Barney's Beanery on the 3rd street promenade has tons of tvs and will be more touristy and less crazy Boston fans. Tne Hooters near the promenade is also surprisingly good for games (and has solid breastesses). If he is in South Bay (Hermosa, Redondo beach) there is a Boston bar there called the Poop Deck. Just tell him to go to the Hermosa Pier, there's a bunch of good places.

Not only will it be full, but there will be a lunar eclipse...which there also was the morning of October 28, 2004.

I will echo my game 6 post, with slight edit:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am 35 years old, and grew up with Fred Cusick and Derek Sanderson calling games, and Peirson's Pointers in between periods. I watched and listened for years as promising teams came and went, always with dissapointment. I wore my "Black and Gold" as the commercials instructed me to, only to be crushed by Mssrs. Gretzky and Lemieux throughout my high school years. I experienced the last 4 years like everyone else, and somehow rationalized that it was okay because of the 2004 and 2007 Red Sox, the 2008 Celtics, and the Tom Brady Patriots. I have become a "grown up", moved 3000 miles away, gotten married, and become a father. I have gotten to a point in my Boston fandom and in my personal life where games and playoffs and championship series aren't supposed to matter that much in the "big scheme of things".

Well . . . . FUCK THAT.

This team deserves to WIN. The heart, the passion, and the perseverence of these Bruins FAR and AWAY outweighs that of those "other guys" from the north. I have watched all of the nonsense and shenanigans from the "other guys", but this is not about preventing anyone else from skating around with the Cup - this is about what should be OURS. WE deserve this. Screw all of the talk about diving and biting and of jealous goalies. This isn't about them anymore, its about US.

I have ZERO doubt about our boys on Monday Wednesday nite. We will WIN.

This Bruins team deserves to be revered with the glorious heroes of 1970 and 1972. Horton deserves to be remembered as Big Papi. Timmy Thomas should leave the ice Wednesday nite with a bloody sock and a Stanley Cup. Big Z should speak at a parade at City Hall in a BRUINS jersey. Bergy deserves a lifetime of TV commercials that make us fondly recall what happened in June of 2011? Krejci and Ference and Recchi and Seids and Pevs and Ryder deserve to be names that will live on in Boston lore.

WIN.

That's pretty fucking awesome right there.

I don't want to make bold predictions here because (a) I am pink-hatter and (b) I think this Bruins squad deserves unconditional love no matter what happens. The reason being is that throughout these games, they have achieved their results with contributions from just about everybody. The B's have 11 players who have double digit point totals and three others with nine points each (Chara, Borg and Boychuk).

Vancouver, on the other hand, has seven players with double digit point totals with Thelma, Louise, Kesler and Saffron Burrows accounting for the bulk. In short, the B's have gotten to this point because of team effort whereas the Cuntnucks are more star diva oriented. Flopping, gutless, taunting, nancy-boys who can dish it out but cannot take it. Aside from those unlucky people in B.C. who are essentially forced to root for that squad, what kind of human being could root for Vancouver?

I will leave it to you hockey scholars to determine whether one style is superior to the other but as a sports fan, the team approach always seems better.

I guess what I was really trying to say was...protect the mothefucking Civic!

I don't know who Stu Hackel of SI is, but he had this to say on Boychuk's hit:

http://nhl-red-light...ng-uncertainty/
my 2 cents- Hackel is SI's "hockey expert" who is definitively not a Bruins fan. sidenote: His schtick is to link a youtube video of a song that he thinks fits the theme of his column (I guess to show us he is both cool and knowledgeable about at least two subjects). If I had to compare him to another writer (and this is generous for Stu), he's got the same self-righteous and often rambling style of TMQ, without the occasional interesting strategic breakdowns or 2000 word jaunts about black holes and minor sci-fi errors. This comparison fits better with his recent minor obsession with the Bruins- Chara's hit on Mad Max was to Stu what Spygate was is to Gregggg. Every Bruins hit has been dirty and intentional since then...if you really wanted to go digging you wouldn't have to go far to find more- but he calls it like he sees it here. The guy even believes in Greg Campbell conspiracies- basically the sportswriting equivalent of being a birther and trying to objectively cover the White House.

So... NBC wasn't the holdup to the Garden Party, Menino was? Seriously? He's taken all the goddamn (communal) fun out of every championship run since the Pats Rally after the first SB. Ugh.

I'm unbelievably pissed about no viewing party. What exactly would have been the difference between this and if there had been a Game 7 in Boston?

Oh well, guess I'll just stick to my trusty bar here in NH.

Fat Face Fenners in Hermosa if he's down that way. Dive bar on LaBrea called Little Bar which is more mid-wilshire area. They have small TVs but it's a good Boston vibe. Sonny's is too crazy.

Why is it more than any other sport that the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs have a way of putting people really on the edge?
I can't say I like one Boston team more than the other. But when watching a Bruins game my level of nervousness is far greater
than when watching a Sox, Celts, or Patriots game. Tomorrow is going to one huge high, I know that for sure.

If the Bruins can somehow carry over the intensity that they play with in Boston and score early, there's no reason to think they can't send Luongo
back to the bench. I think we should have won this series already. But winning a Game 7 will make it all the more sweeter. There could be riots
in Vancouver.

I live right up the street from Fenner's. There will be a lot of Bruins fans there tomorrow. I have seen the Sox in 07 win it all there and I was lucky to be there to see the World Series trophy the day after Thanksgiving in 04. Fenners has good food and a great atmosphere. They will have the game on as well as the Sox with the volume on the Bruins.

I noticed it very much tonight on my way home from practice (by the way, my practice space is literally across the street from this building).

I remember quite distinctly running back and forth between my living room and the balcony that night.

It's a sign all right. Of going out of business.

Win today. Win today and I'll never care if the Bruins ever win another game, at least until the next time these incredible bastards suit up in the fall. Win today and ten days from now we get to hear Gary Bettman say "With the 9th pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, the Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins select (insert player but who gives a fuck they won the Cup)." Win today and Boston becomes a top FA destination. Win today and we'll never remember ever thinking that anyone on the team is overpaid and/or underachieving. Win today and join the club of ridiculously successful Boston teams that was founded by Bill Belichick in 2001. Win today and prove that a team without a truly elite offensive player can get the job done. Win today and nothing will matter - not the powerplay strategy, not Chia's proclivity to hand out NMCs to anybody who wants one (it's true, mine is hanging on the wall next to my diploma and my signed Orr photo), not PK Subban or Danny Briere or Alex Burrows or KPD. None of it will matter because the names of OUR guys will be engraved on the Cup for all eternity.

Just win today.

Win it for Shyness Clinic and all my comrades still in Afghanistan/Iraq. I myself just returned from a year in that shithole, where I missed the majority of the regular season. I came home for my two weeks leave in March and went to the "over a pile of HUMANITY" game vs. the Phil Esposito jerkfaces. I bought a Lucic jersey that night, brought it back to Afghanistan, and hung it on the wall in my room. I then wore it for every game I could watch, and if the AFN signal was down, wore it and followed the game on the boards here. Waking up at 4:30 AM was a chore at first, but became religion once the playoffs started. I missed games 1-3 of the SCF traveling back to my base in Germany, but I had that jersey on underneath my uniform when I knew they were playing. Getting up at 2 AM still blows, but games 4-6 were worth it, and for damn sure it'll be worth it when we fuck them tonight. I just hope Shyness and other guys I know get to see it.

Thanks to the Bruins for making my last couple months there fly by, and thanks to you all for existing when I had no other Boston fans around.

WIN

I'm in Zambia, people here don't care about hockey. There's not even a Canadian Embassy where I could try to find someone to watch with. And yet, I am still incredibly excited. First thing tomorrow morning, I'm coming in to work and reading this entire thread.

It's dangerous to tempt karma.

LeBron and Wade behaved liked babies when they mocked Dirk's illness. They were winless after that and LeBron, in particular, has been subject to unending, deserved ridicule.

Luongo crapped on Tim Thomas in the wake of Game 5. Even if you want to give him the benefit of the doubt and conclude it was more brainlessness than meanness, Bobby Lou crossed a line that cannot be crossed. We saw what happened to him on Monday night.

And, of course, with Burrows, Lapierre, the Sisters and the rest of this band of walking vomit, Luongo is hardly on an island of suckass in that dressing room.

Some teams are just too filled with douche bags and bad behavior to be allowed to win a title. It would have been wrong for the Heat to prevail in the face of their hatefulness, and happily enough, these Canucks are in the same wretched boat.

So while the record of home teams in Game 7s concerns me, the negative karma thing more than offsets it. That the Bruins are the tougher team, hammered these turkeys in Boston and played them close in Vancouver puts it over the top.

We have come to the precipice ladies and gentleman. A long, arduous, nail-bitingly fantastic journey not soon to be forgotten in Boston sports lore, regardless of outcome.

That outcome is set however. Butterflies are for pussies. Nerves, for nancies. The Boston Bruins will take this fucking game, and will be crowned the National Hockey League's Stanley Cup Champions!

Win it for Mike, win it for all RMPS regulars dedicated to this cause long before the 'revitalized' base returned, through years of agony.

Get a couple of quick goals and enjoy the implosion.

EDIT - To that point, I wonder how long of a leash Luongo gets - i.e., is he gone if he gives up two in the first period no matter what?

Dear Bruins,

I know this is my first year on the bandwagon, but I have gotten to really enjoy watching your games and rooting for you. In doing so, I have learned to really hate the Habs and their fans. Even Yankee fans didn't call 911 when Pedro grabbed Zimmer by his fat sweaty head and threw him to the ground.

So please, win the period and then take the series in 6. I'm not asking for much, I don't need a Cup this season, I don't even need a second round win (though it would be nice) quite frankly I don't think you are good enough to win the Cup. But you are good enough to beat this fucking flopping team and you are certainly good enough to beat the ever living shit out them on the boards and shut their fucking fans up.
Thanks in advance,

HB
Dear Bruins,

I lied and I was wrong two months ago. I need a cup this season and you are good enough to win the Cup.

Bring it home tonight.

Fuck you, Vancouver.

Fuck you, Danielle and Henrietta Sedin. You diving, late-hitting, crybaby, punk-ass punching bags. You've been so pathetic in this series that you don't deserve any of the praise that has been heaped upon you all season long. In fact the two of you combined so far this season haven't stacked up against Brad Marchand by himself. You're overrated, you're gingers, and you freak people out. Fuck off.

Fuck you, Max Lapierre. You greasy fake tough-guy. You're not even the instigator, you're the guy who runs up alongside him jumping up and down hoping that he'll let you be in his gang. You suck. You sucked in Montreal and you still suck now. It's because of you faking that injury that the refs were so hesitant to call anything on the Raymond hit even though he cracked his fucking spinal chord. That's because of YOU you pathetic waste of genetic material. You're such a pathetic flopping shithead that they actually started calling you on it, which they haven't done like, AT ALL. Congratulations. Fuck You.

Fuck you, Roberto Luongo. Fuck you for daring to compare yourself to Tim Thomas in any sort of favorable way. Fuck you for being so insecure and feminine that you actually cried to the media about how Thomas hasn't been leaving you any notes after study hall. Fuck you for not only looking like a matador and playing like one in games 3-4 and 6. Fuck you for thinking that you're even in the same class of goaltenders as Tim Fucking Thomas. You're not. And you never will be.

And finally.

Fuck you, Alex Burrows. Fuck you.

And fuck your team.

Go Bruins.

Win it for the Satan Happy Dance

I never watched or played hockey growing up, and never cared about it. Then I came to sosh and found this crazy subforum called RMPS that was so passionate and crazy about hockey I figured I should give it a try. I started watching the playoffs last year and enjoyed it(besides the ending) and have grown to love this team this year. The playoffs this year have had some of the best sporting events I've ever watched. No matter what happens tonight, this bruins team has created a hockey fan for life.

Just win.
