In 2004, I remember fond feelings for the Cardinals fans and organization, as they opened the stadium towards the end of game 4 so that Sox fans could come in and enjoy the first World Series in 86 years.
Not this year. My hatred for the Canucks and their fans blew up like a super cell thunderstorm on a hot, humid day. I'm not generally a blood thirsty person, but Holy Hell do I want the Bruins to smash the hopes and dreams of thousands of Nucks fans into dust-mite sized pieces. (Except Sprowl. He's all right.) It's to the point where I feel a bit guilty about feeding the local economy by honeymooning there 15 years ago.
I believe fiercely in this team. What big fun this year has been.

It's great having the same feelings as the day of game 4 of the 2004 and 07 World Series and game 6 of the 08 NBA finals, or the last 4 Pats super bowls. Tonight we could celebrating a title. :)

I got a good feeling about tonight. I thought I'd be nervous about this game, but I'm not in the least. Tonight has the chance to be the best night in many of our lives. I'm going to be at what ever bar I can get into near the garden watching The Boston Bruins win the fucking Stanley Cup. This is going to be awesome.

PROTECT THE CIVIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would trade your fireass for my logjam in a second. Burgers and hot dogs were an awful idea.

Looks like Sandella's for lunch :-\

Any idea when the bars are gonna start to get packed? I probably can't get into the city until 6:30-7ish. Would like to hit up one around Causeway but Clarke's would probably be good as well. All of the other ones around Faneuil probably won't be that great.

The bars around Faneuil will be busy. They'll get a lot of the overflow traffic that couldn't get into the North Station bars. I bet the bars right around the Garden will start filling up around 6 when the after work crowd gets there in full force.

Wondering if tonight's game will see a gamethread pages record. 72 pages from Game 7 against Carolina is the record.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm afraid of. I'm coming from Quincy today so I have to drop my car off and take the T but I imagine 93 North is going to be a mess today. Hoping for some luck/getting out a little early.

The Bruins have lost only once this postseason when I have had a SoCo and lime shot. Game 1 against Tampa. Wins against Montreal Game 7, Game 7 Tampa, Game 4 Vancouver, Game 6 Vancouver. The SoCo will be in hand tonight after picking up a bottle yesterday after work.

In 2008 we tried to get into bars to watch the Celtics. My buddy showed up late so were tried around the Garden about 2 hours before the game. No luck, they insisted on standing in line, but after 1/2 hour I pointed out that obviously no one was leaving the bars (especially not 50 people, the number of people in line in front of us). So we started heading out to faneuil. Imagine the picture they show of earthquakes growing out in a circle from the epicenter. It was like that. Literally a wave of people looking for a bar with out a line growing in a circle from north station towards haymarket and faneuil. We got all the way to basically the custom house before we found a bar without a line. 10 minutes after we were in, the place was packed.

Road teams are 3-12 in Game 7's in NHL History.

Winners

1971 Montreal Canadiens over Chicago

My brother actually just called there. He said they expect to reach capacity around 6:30-7ish, based on the C's Game 7 last year.

My friends were all actually planning to go there for the game, but we all kinda decided to scrap those plans last minute for a whole host of reasons. We are going to watch it at my parents' house, which is where we all basically grew up and fell in love with hockey. It's the place that reminds me of the countless hours playing street hockey in the driveway, playing NHL 94 on Sega, lying on the floor listening to Fred and Turk lionize Ray Bourque and Cam Neely, waking up at 5:30am to go to my pee wee games, hurrying home after little league games to see the Stanley Cup Playoffs on ESPN, with Steve Levy and Gary Thorne doing PBP and Bill Clement on color. My mom (all mom jokes aside) is honestly the biggest Bruins fan I know. Back when I was too young to stay up past the first period (always asking to wait until the next commercial to go to bed), she would always leave me a written recap of the game for when I woke up in the morning. She still texts me during big moments of big games, she hangs up posters and memorabilia of Bruins players around her classroom, and has watched as many games as I have this year.

All of these memories happened at my parents' house, with all my childhood friends and (of course) my parents. It's only fitting that that's where I watch the game tonight, as there's really no other place I'd rather be if they win it all. I was there in 2004 to celebrate the biggest Sox win of my life, and it's the perfect place to be to celebrate the biggest Bruins win of my life with the people who mean the most to me.

It all ends at the beginning.

Between here and everywhere.
TFP - The reasons for you going to your parents house are fucking awesome.

I used to be like that with my grandfather. He passed away when I was 13. I know he's absolutely in love with this years Bruins. If he has any say in this game, the Bruins are going to beat the absolute shit out of the Canucks.

I can't believe a game 7 is upon us with the Bruins able to win the cup.

Will certainly be representing black and gold here in new york city. The allergies i've had last couple of days aren't holding me back from the revelry we will all experience when the Bruins knock those weak punk Canucks on their asses.

Good reasons, TFP. I have a feeling going into town may not be the best idea, but I wouldn't miss a potential post-Cup win paraderiot for anything.

Well minus the golf bash, yeah.

I will also be watching it with my old man which has been great luck during this playoff run. I have had very similar experiences as TFP did and tonight it just feels right to be there with him. One more W fellas.

I had an early meeting in the city today, so normally I would have driven in to work. but I've been taking the train into North Station every day for a few weeks now, and I'll be damned if I'm not walking through that building again today, 6/15/11. I love walking down Canal St between 5 and 6pm on game day and feeling the vibe.

Plus the whole city is feeling the vibe, even the Back Bay, which couldn't be less Bruins-like. It's a good day to be a fan.

Before I get on the train today, I will be giving a fist bump to the bigger than life pictures of all the B's in North Station. it's the stupidest thing I can imagine doing, but it just feels right.

I was born in the summer of '81. The Celtics played for (and won) a championship when I was less than 3. A year and a half later, at 4 and a half, the Pats had their shot against the Bears. 9 months after that, the Sox played games 6 and 7 against the Mets with a chance to win it all. Now, 25 years later, the Bruins will play a game with the chance to win the Stanley Cup for the first time in my life. Unreal.

Go B's.

A win tonight would be a damn good capper on a golden decade for Boston sports. It's pretty incredible, given the relative parity of the four major leagues these days, though I cannot think of a city pulling this kind of success off even in the pre-salary cap era(s).
