I was going to wait until tomorrow to start this thread, but @RG33 forced my hand.

In 1997, the Whalers left the Hartford Civic Center for the last time, decamping for Raleigh, NC to become the Hurricanes. Tomorrow night, the Bruins destroy the 'Canes much like the city of Hartford should destroy the Hartford Civic Center...or XL Center or whatever the hell they call it now.

Sway gave us the game we knew he could last night. The Bruins made their shots and had solid special teams play. More of the same tomorrow. Full strength McAvoy? Yes, please. Good, late-season DeBrusk? Of course. Goal-scoring machine Derek Forbort? He's gonna pile them on.

Bruins roll down south like General Sherman. Score goals, drink their beer, and eat their Bojangles chicken. Win.

There is nothing factually wrong about your post. Yet as a former whalers fan it bothered me. I was actually wearing a whalers t-shirt yesterday and didn’t realize it until well into the 3rd period. I tempted the mojo gods, unknowingly. Fortunately it all worked out. With all that said the hurricanes are not the whalers and vice versa (at least to me). With all that said… fuck the Hurricanes. Go Bruins.

I took the kid out for ice cream, and this older guy saddles up to me, complimenting my Bruins shirt. I’m pretty used to it, as there are plenty of Bruins fans in Atlantic Canada. However, he mentions that he’s originally from Boston, so down the rabbit hole I go. Guy’s got two kids, still live in New England. One of them is in Winchester, and coaches a baseball team. His third base coach for the summer? Bruce Cassidy. Apparently, he loves teaching kids how to steal bases.

Maybe the guy’s legit (he also said he was the kennelmaster at Pease AFB after ‘Nam, and he now cares for a PTSD service dog that helps CF soldiers and Mounties), maybe he’s not. Either way, I just want Butch to teach these guys how to steal one road game, and this series.

Let’s fuckin’ get ‘em!

I am not even remotely emotionally prepared to not watch Patrice Bergeron play hockey again. Fucking win, just in case.

I think that Bergy's coming back for at least another year. He's declined, but he still has gas left in the tank. Recchi was 43 when they won the Cup.

I certainly fucking hope so. He has more than SOME gas left in the tank. He had a phenomenal season.

Another fun fact (and posting this in both game threads): the Bs and Cs have never played game 7s on back to back days.

this is kinda why I wanna attend both, I wonder how many other people will be at both games?? I just don’t know if I’m going to have the stamina to get from Raleigh to Boston in such a quick turnaround.
Feels like history though :)))

I appreciate the empathy. Then I still have to get to Philly after the C’s game because you know, school on Monday.
Two points to emphasize:
1.) first world problems for sure, grateful for the opportunity and happy the teams are in this position given they were both down
2.) those drives will be much less of a grind following a W

3.) LFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All driving. Left last night and stayed at a buddy’s place in Maryland and watched the Celtics. About an hour out of PNC now. Getting from Raleigh to Boston is obviously the most difficult part and I’m going to see how we feel after the Bruins game.
Chances of it happening go up significantly if the B’s win today.
Let’s Go!!!!

That’s 12 hours if it’s smooth
Honestly, I don’t see the point. Maybe if it was the Finals

What’s the point of anything brother? We’re on a rock hurtling through space…. Carpe motherfucking Diem.

Less preachy: I just hope one day when my kid looks back he thinks man, my dad was the f’ng balls and my childhood could have been worse.

Between here and everywhere.
Interestingly - it is 13 years to the day of Game 7 of the 2009 ECS when Scott Fucking Walker won it for Carolina in OT at the Garden.

Fuck Carolina, and fuck Scott Walker.

Who knocked Carolina out of the playoffs in 2019? The Boston Bruins.

Yes, steal a win today. Or better yet, take it. The canes showed in game 6 that they don’t want it anymore. Take advantage. Score first. Score second. Leave no doubt. Be a relentless barrage of four lines. Win.

Quick report:

this Hurricanes team is easy to hate, the fans, not so much. Choppin it up with a bunch of people in the parking lot, stereotypical southern hospitality; free drinks, good conversation, etc…

I will say, my very unscientific poll is that the fans are giving me some fake confidence. They’re TELLING me they think they are going to win, but I think they are afraid of blowing this to us a third time. I hope their team feels the same way and comes out trying to play cautiously and we capitalize.

LFG!!!!
