Last games before a two-week international break. Oh how I loathe those.  From the club's perspective, it's two weeks with a far less qualified manager who has far less incentive to worry about a player's fitness.  It's two weeks with travel to potentially far-flung places (London to Buenos Aires is a 13-14 hour trip) with jet lag and messed up sleep schedules.  Most importantly, it's two weeks without club football, and I'm an addict and cannot go that long without a fix.

But I digress.  At least there's a nice slate of games on.  All games EST.  Here's the EPL games:

Saturday
City vs WBA - 8:45a
Villa vs Swansea - 11a
Newcastle vs Arsenal - 11a
S'ton vs Burnley - 11a
Stoke vs Palace - 11a
Tottenham vs Leicester - 11a
West Ham vs Sunderland - 1:30p

Sunday
Liverpool vs United - 9:30a
Hull vs City - 12p
QPR vs Everton - 12pm

Liverpool vs United is definitely the matchup of the week, at least from a neutral's perspective.  Huge top-4 implications.

Also, be sure not to miss el classico (Barca-Real) at 4pm on Sunday. And then there's also Bayern-Monchengladbach for a nice #1 vs #3 matchup in the Bundesliga at 12:30p.

What happened there? I just checked the highlight in the link below.
#23 played the pass, Bony sprinted in between and tipped the ball, #25 made the foul, #23 ran after Bony, made another tackle in the box, but obviously, that first foul outside the box was called. So why is #23 dismissed? Is that really a mistake by the ref? That can´t be true that he really confused the players and his assistants didn´t see it, either...

Newcastle haven't looked this up for a match in months. What got into their Cheerios?
This match has big top-4 implications, as well.  A win or draw by Newcastle makes tomorrow’s Liverpool-Man United match all the more meaningful. Moreover, a win today by Newcastle followed by a Liverpool win tomorrow could make for a nail-biting 3-5 BPL finish.  Go Reds!

I vote for all of these named teams maimed and killed. Especially the tactical turtle's squad.

Giroud is finding confidence and form. He's looking most likely for arsenal

Do Arsenal fans finally like Giroud now?
He's taken his game to heights never before seen. These last four months have been Giroud 2.0 and I rather like the new version.

The Spurs with two goals, on two shots on goal, in 13 minutes. Both by Kane.

The only shocking thing here is that it's been 20 more minutes and he still only has 2.

Lloris and Forster have both been subbed off in the first half with injuries

The Lloris thing is my fault because I just picked him up in fantasy.

Does anybody have an idea what's happening with the NBC Sports app? I used some VPN magic to make it work, and then it keeps doing this thing where I click on a game, it shows video loading, then the video disappears and it goes back to the home screen. Makes no sense after it worked for the whole week.

Yeah that was a fun match to watch. Newcastle are good for one good half per match. Just don't have the horses right now (injuries/suspensions/lack of transfers) but the guys that are playing play hard. Which either means they get ahead and blow a lead, or fall behind early and try to catch up (or fold).

I'm glad Jozy got out of Sunderland. Just lost 0-4 at home to Aston Villa, lost their boss, and Newcastle look comfortably above the drop zone. And then you show up for work today and they tell you to put on these ridiculous neon baby blue kits. They have to be thinking "you're shitting me."

I think Jozy's experience in the northeast was worth it if every american player views it as a warning. Stay away. Don't go to Sunderland, or Newcastle, or Middlesbrough. Go to clubs that have some semblance of knowing what they are doing. I don't know if York City or Gateshead FC or Hartlepool are good or not, but stay away just to be safe.

If Balotelli played like Sturridge he'd have been the victim of a hate crime by now. The difference in standards for the two is insane.

The speed and intensity of United's pressing is giving Liverpool fits, and Liverpool might be the fastest-playing team in the Premier League.

Can somebody remind me when the last time Sterling did something other than run directly at his defender and lose the ball?

Once he loses his pace, what is he going to offer?
