Ha.
I haven’t seen a good angle of offside there. Was a legit penalty shout.

When Jonjo Shelvy’s workrate is around the middle of the pack you know that it’s a slow-ass match.

True. But this is also exactly the kind of match where he makes something sublime happen out of nowhere. Shelvy is a sewer rat that does his best work in the middle of shit.

Training ground easy. Very pretty header by Wilson, absolutely no pressure on him tho.

There are precious few things to love about Newcastle nowadays, but their complete ownership of Jordan Pickford's gnarled Mackem wiener is definitely one of those precious few.

Ferran Torres just had one of the individual efforts of the season to retain possession with a defender draped on him and nutmeg another along the byline before finding Gabriel Jesus for a tap-in

One of the unfortunate byproducts of the re emergence of high pressure total football has been teams shifting to a back 5. It’s a sensible tactical adjustment but it sure makes matches tougher to watch

Wilf just baaaarrrely missed a goal. Hit the crossbar and went down just in front of the line. Hopefully that doesn’t come back to haunt them.

And as I wrote that, one of the announcers said exactly that, and added Batsuhayi’s miss from 6 yards in the first half.

Guaita just saved our asses again.

Edit: on second view, it more ran into him than him making a great save.

I can't complain given that we're without Auba, Saka, and Tierney. United were definitely on top near the end of the half so I hope Arteta does something to change it up a bit. Eventually I'd love to see Odegaard come in on the right.

A point is probably a fair result and not one I can really complain about given that Arsenal were missing three of our best players and United were at full strength.

The Premier League really needs to crack down on that move of undercutting the opponent while he jumps for a header, particularly given the new emphasis on head injuries. That's arguably a more dangerous play than most high foot situations and they should be handing out yellows like candy until people cut the shit.

I don't understand the handball rules. From everything I'm seen over the last year or so that looked like a stonewall penalty against Villa.

I really hope Lee Mason called that back for a handball on McGinn (which could've been debated, if anything Djenepo had fouled him) - Villa were away 3 on the keeper otherwise.

Strange offside flag here - it's close but Ings looks onside

Another garbage 'sleeve' offside. If Ings weren't motioning for where he wanted the ball (or as the commentator noted, wearing a black armband on the end of his sleeve) that probably stands.

Today Peacock finally looks like it’s in HD, which is awesome.

It looks like items running about 10 FPS. That is not awesome.

Tyler/Neville talking about Shaqiri

Tyler: "He's got a bit of a Maradona build doesn't he?"
Neville: "... more of a Jon Moss"

The only way Origi could have done worse with that ball would have been if he whiffed entirely. I’m guessing he lost where he was in the pitch.

How did Soucek get away without a card there? A dangerous play kick to the head seems pretty straightforward. Hell, Mané got red for it.
