That one will go into the all time braindead Xhaka moments Youtube compilation for sure.

Arsenal probably should have had two or three before that. Burnley have created absolutely nothing.

I was just going to make a comment about five minutes earlier about how much better Xhaka has been and that I think Arteta may really be positively influencing him. And then that.

I think Arsenal still wins this, but Burnley could not have a better result right now considering the actual run of play.

I think Leno is a bit to blame there.. but the whole strategy of playing around the back (with mediocre players) instead of just clearing the ball, just seems like the worst strategy ever.. Why play back to the keeper so much and invite pressure as close as you can to your own goal?

Nah. Xhaka just needs to play a simple one time pass to Luiz in an acre of space. Then when he doesn’t he needs to play it back to Leno for a hasty clearance.

The reason to play it out from the back is that the alternative kind of sucks and you also create your own chances if you break the press, like our goal. I think one can wonder whether we have the best personnel for it (ie, xhaka) but I’m glad that Arteta is drilling the team this way.

A Tradition Unlike Any Other: Arsenal ruining your weekend before 930am on a Saturday

I hate this club and everyone involved with it.

Flipped on the Soton-Sheff Hnited match and Danny Ings is trudging off injured. Poor bastard.

That was a really nice goal, that I think was set up by an offside (but one that's easy to miss as it was a move from an offside position back toward the ball).

Just turned it on, but if Villa-Wolves isn’t your thing, it’s currently Bayern 1 - Dortmund 2 35 minutes in.

And now 2-2 after Lewandowski cashed in on a VAR penalty (tbf, VAR got it right).

Also, I get this on both ABC and Canada’s Sportsnet. ABC is mixing in crowd noise and it’s weird.

Brighton worked hard and led LC at the half. A good adjustment by Rogers at the half and LC pulls out the game 1-2. A fairly entertaining game.

Some good saves by both keepers.

In theory it may make sense.. but in practice over the past few seasons under Arteta and Emery I’ve seen it create far more chances and goals for the other team. Xhaka, Luiz and Leno simply don’t have the feet to make it a wining strategy imo. It also has the added problem of keeping the ball from going upfield to your best player... Auba basically needs to get as many touches as Xhaka gets.

This backline is perhaps the worst it's been this season, and that's saying something - Fabinho is on the bench but I presume is being saved for Leipzig, meanwhile Fulham should be up by 2 or 3. Of course, the goal they did get came off of Salah not clearing his lines

There is zero joy in watching this club right now

i don’t even know what to do with them anymore. I would need more than 3 changes. Mane for Shaqiri, Fabinho for Milner, Trent for Neco?

Abysmal.....and I'm really not being fair to the gravity of the word, abysmal, by labeling Liverpool as "abysmal" right now. I hope Klopp has the Fergie blow dryer speech dusted off right now.

Mane on for Wijnaldum is... interesting. Guessing Klopp reverts to a front 3 now from the diamond, with Shaqiri joining Keita and Milner in midfield.

Liverpool look more likely to concede 2-3 more than score but it's worth a roll of the dice

I don’t think they should fire Klopp, but we might approaching the point where he resigns out of honor.

Any talk of firing Klopp is utterly insane. The team is literally gutted right down the center and he can’t start the same lineup twice. What the hell is he supposed to do?

Salah made a bad mistake to concede and they’ve been ridiculously unlucky in front of goal. It’s a shit combination. I think he swung the pendulum too far toward rest today, but nothing is going to solve the fundamental problem that The team doesn’t have a reliable spine right now.

Everyone on Liverpool looks exhausted. They've never been especially deep and the combo of injuries and the compressed COVID schedule looks like it has just run the remaining healthy players into the ground.

Talk of firing Klopp is idiotic, but I can see him potentially leaving...this has been such an exhausting year for him emotionally and he's a guy who runs on emotion. The man needs this season to end desperately, he's running on fumes. As is the team.

I think the most likely outcome is a stagger to the finish and a long rest. He's then got three seasons to rework the squad and set it on a good path forward, leaving Liverpool set to contend after he leaves. Which would add to his already legendary legacy at the club.
