You don't deserve that beautiful man.I hear John Farrell is available.
Cross-posting from offseason thread and writing as a Sox fan.Yankees fans, your take on this? As a Sox fan, this move makes me happy, tough place to manage NY, just like Boston.
Was it his decision to pull CC and others early or was that a direction from the front office to limit SP innings?Cross-posting from offseason thread and writing as a Sox fan.
He's not that good a manager. He let a guy with 70 good innings in his career pitch with the season on the line against McCann instead of using Chapman. He also probably pissed off Sabathia and other starters by yanking them in the fifth with sizable leads during the season. I don't like the possibility of an upgrade here. But of course they could and hopefully will find someone worse.
I like Girardi, but my main concern is the Yankees retaining Cashman. He is far more critical to the Yankees winning.Yankees fans, your take on this? As a Sox fan, this move makes me happy, tough place to manage NY, just like Boston.
It's possible but this is a guy who is in love with pitching changes and matching up ad nauseum. I can see the limit maybe for a Montgomery but not for CC or even Garcia who is just cannon fodder. Was it his decision to pull CC and others early or was that a direction from the front office to limit SP innings?
Robby Thompson, Al Pedrique, Joe Espada, Tony Pena are candidates that were just mentioned by Sweeny Murti on WFAN.[/QUOTE
I will never not be able to hate Al Pedrique, he of RBI Baseball All-Star Baseball credentials.
Since there were already rumors about him retiring, I wonder if he told the Yankees he would have to take the decision year-by-year or something and the Yankees just wanted someone committed more long term. No idea if there's any truth to that but could be one reason as I agree this decision seems a bit weird.Something is slightly off about this and I'm glad it's not on us for a change.
Well, he's been fired after winning Manager of the Year before. This is really surprising. He made a glaring, Farrell-esque mistake in the postseason by not challenging a play, but also had some bolder managerial moves that paid off. He was one game away from bringing a team in a rebuilding year to the World Series. He will get manager of the year votes. Something is slightly off about this and I'm glad it's not on us for a change.
I think there's probably a lot of truth to this.Somebody did not want Joe G to win with the new guys, and be stuck with him for another 5 years or longer.
Please no. I would rather give ARod a chance. How about Don Mattingly?
Nice call.Well, he's been fired after winning Manager of the Year before.
If watching these playoffs hasn't taught fans that all managers make "head scratching" moves, than nothing will. Managers are seldom fired for on the field actions. Something is going on behind the scenes, just as it was with Farrell.
The Yankees will not replace him with someone less in-tune with statistical analysis. I guess they just want someone who is less of a jerk? Who knows.Nice call.
So from where I sit it seems like Binder Joe went by the numbers too much and that hurt the feelings of his players.
Makes a ton of sense. So does Girardi go to Washington?
Torre was an upgrade over Showalter and the perfect veteran manager for that team. Who is the Torre type out there that will take this team to the next level? They will likely have to roll the dice with a first time manager.Suzyn Waldman on WFAN likens this to the Buck firing. And that the Ys thought they needed a new guy to get them to the next level in the next 3-5 years..
He's sort of the anti-Dusty, so probablySo does Girardi go to Washington?
