Just got a new cell line. iPhone arrived today, and I'm getting it set up. One thing I can't get working is linking the new phone/number to my existing Google Voice number, which is linked to another cell phone on the same Verizon phone plan. If I try to add the new phone as a linked device, it doesn't ever send the verification code text, nor can I choose to have it call the number.
Other inbound texts to the phone do work.
Inbound phone calls to the number also work.
So it's not a "the phone isn't working" issue.
Google Voice's error message isn't super helpful - "Something went wrong. Try verifying with another number." I've tried to link the number from multiple browsers on a separate PC (Chrome and Safari), and from the voice app itself on the phone.
If the phone number was in use on some other voice account, I think I would get an error telling me that.
Anyone with brilliant ideas on how to get it to link?
My next step (which is killing me - I'm impatient) is to wait 24+ hours and try again.
