Are you telling me the Boston Herald is an extant publication and they have a baseball writer?

They were hiring for that position for a while. Good for her if she wants the gig; the Herald is a rough spot at the moment. They don't have an office anymore and are owned by a hedge fund that just tries to suck the marrow out of the company.

Wow, really? Hard to wrap my head around the notion that a long-standing paper - as opposed to a newer digital content provider - doesn’t maintain a physical office.

The pandemic taught everyone to work from home and a company like Digital First is going to see that they don't need to pay for an office for the paper to function, so the lease isn't renewed. I don't work for Digital First, but our last day in the office will be Wednesday.

Gabby is a good person, so I’m happy for her on a personal level. But I’d imagine it will be a relatively short term position.

I like Gabby. I think she does the blogging format well. Hopeful it translates to the more traditional format. I actually am impressed the Herald is embracing a younger perspective here.

They were not offering a ton of money for the job, young people is probably all they could afford.

Apparently they didn't read any of her writings from BoSox Injection before hiring her. It was utter "Sully From Revere" tripe that catered to the troglodyte crowd. The other writers there couldn't stand her. I don't think she'll last long at the Herald.
