In case anyone is feeling nostalgic, Sam Stejskal wrote a "soccer: sport of the future!" article in The Athletic. Straight out of 1978.

Younger generations are more into soccer than ever before, with 70 percent of soccer fans in the U.S. either a Millennial or in Gen-Z. MLS itself boasts the youngest fanbase of any men’s pro league in the States. The league has said that roughly 30 percent of its fans are Hispanic or Latino, an encouraging number given the evolving makeup of the U.S. and Canada.

For the true believers, those numbers make the continued growth of the league something of an inevitability. As long as owners continue to invest in the product, MLS should one day become a real player in both our continental sporting landscape and in the global soccer ecosystem. The big question isn’t if the league will rise, but how high and how fast it will climb.

I just got a ticket to see the match next Wednesday against Pumas; found one for pretty much nothing on StubHub and want to see some Liga MX. Going solo if anyone else is going and wants to meet up. I'm assuming they don't really care where you sit / check tickets when there's probably going to be like a few dozen people there on a 30 degree Wednesday night in March.

Not sure what my plans are, but you can ask me any questions about Revs games at Gillette in this thread or via PM. I think there are a few other regulars here.

Team Ops (Kraft’s security firm) don’t care about whose seats you’re in, as long as you’re not causing trouble. No one is checking tickets once you’re past the gate. One of my favorite things to do at a sparsely attended weeknight game is to sit directly beneath the broadcast booth in section 132 and listen to the home announcers call the game. I’ve done this the last two times I’ve been by myself.

If you can’t snag a tailgate invite, the supporters groups in lot 4C are usually pretty friendly. I’m probably just going to go straight into the match though, unless the forecast improves.

Trying to be rational about last night because it was such a shit show on so many levels (squad rotation, weather), but god I'm still pissed off. What a squander.

Completely pathetic performance. Lleget's PK was one of the worst you will ever see. Now I'm pissed I turned this game on because now I'm going to go to bed angry.

Absolute catastrophe. Weakened lineup because of injuries and suspension to Buksa, but good God. And this is not getting better when Turner and Buksa leave in the summer.

They give up high school level goals. Don't care whether this is the best or the 20th best pro league, that's pretty much unacceptable.

Revs sign 20 year old Colombian MF Dylan Borrero from Brazilian side Athletico Mineiro

https://www.bostonglobe.com/2022/04/22/sports/revolution-add-colombian-midfielder-dylan-borrero-via-45-million-transfer/

Bruce likens him a bit to Tajon.
“Similar qualities, physically and technically, all of that,” said Arena, comparing Borrero and Buchanan. “He’s technically good, he’s got speed, he’s 20 years old, and he is still going to grow into his body more. I think he’s a very promising attacking player. We need another attacking player. We think he has a lot of potential.”

The worst part is he's not even ball watching, he knows what to do, he checks the guy, he just moves like a wounded giraffe.

Omar Gonzalez should be arrested at half time

EDIT: looks like McNamara tried to pass off his man to Omar, who was already marking someone else, but still not a great defending by him.

Not sure if it was a worldie or a Rob Green, but either way a last minute winner at FCC is huge.

I went last nigh, first game in probably 8-9 years. Philly had a couple of 1/2 chances early and looked the better team the first 5-10 coming out of the half, but otherwise NE was the better team. Should have finished a couple and put the game to bed early- Bou in particular.

the ease with which Philly scored their goal right after the Revs’ was pretty humorous.

If I didn’t look the standings up, I wouldn’t have thought Philly was that good.

I liked the Icelandic dude- he had a strong first half.

Not sure best place to ask, but I'm going down on Wednesday night - taking my son and some friends for his birthday. What's the best place to park? Looks like stadium parking is free for Revs games. I'll be coming in from the north using route 1 south.

Sleepy draw last night, nothing much doing in the final third. Really think Borreo is going to be great for us.

Also just watched a Turner career retrospective on the Revs YouTube channel. Gonna miss that guy.

I haven't been following much the past few weeks, and this was the last I heard of Buksa.
I tuned in last night to find out he was sold last week.
I realize getting $10 million for him is good business and he was going to leave sooner or later, but he is a huge loss to try to deal with in the middle of the season, and I hope they can get a replacement in ASAP.

These two points are obviously linked. Jozy Altidore isn't cutting it at all; I forget that he's even on the field. I'm also worried about Gustavo Bou potentially declining, but haven't jumped to that conclusion yet.

On the other hand, the Revs may have found a more than serviceable Matt Turner replacement in Djordje Petrović.
