Haha, gotcha. I tuned in within a couple minutes of him getting hurt so i didn't get to see much. Thanks for the input.
I'm just a dirty lurker, I should be better about posting correctly, or explaining better when I do. That's on me! Lol Mclaughlin does look pretty good though today!

Haha, no you're all good. I am no better than a lurker, I just caught the gist of your post wrong.

I thought Lysell looked okay from the few minutes I saw him, but I definitely think he will need to work on his body work, he looked easy to push off the puck. I also didn't think he looked super fast, but he found a way to sneak into a couple holes on the power play right before he got taken out.

McLaughlin looks great, and I've been a fan of his game since he got called up. I hope he sticks this year, but not needing waivers might keep him in Providence.

Agreed on all these points. Exactly the same way I'm seeing it. McLaughin on that 4th line with occasional 3rd line time would make some solid balance, but yea waivers and cap issues probably keep him in prov unfortunately

I’m glad they’re letting Greer/Studnicka/McLaughlin continue to build chemistry. Developing a youthful 4th line is much more appealing than watching Foligno and Nosek. We’ll see if the Nosek/Koppanen/Steen line shows anything.

Hopefully Lysell gets to ride again with the big boys in at least one of the final three preseason games. With Hall out I‘d like to see them try DeBrusk-Bergeron-Lysell (but they seem pretty intent on keeping DeBrusk on Bergie’s right).

I know it’s only preseason and the bill of the lineups have been AHL heavy but the offense is generating next to nothing.

Lineup tonight @ NYR

Zacha - Krejci - Pastrnak
DeBrusk - Studnicka - McLaughlin
Lauko - Beecher - Lysell
Wagner - Koppanen - Lettieri

Zboril - Stralman
Forbort - Carlo
Reilly - Renouf

Swayman
Keyser

Pasta's first action. Kind of a fun lineup here with all the kids playing in some capacity.

Yup. Get to see Zacha-Krejci-Pasta in action as a 1st line, new and improved DeBrusk and Studnicka with sparkplug McLaughlin (Studnicka and McLaughlin have looked good together), and the zippy youngster line of Lauko/Beecher/Lysell. Lots to look at. And I’m intrigued by the Zboril/Stralman first pairing. I hope Zboril jumps back onto his trajectory and earns lots of ice time this year.

If Lysell looks electric than maybe he’ll earn a 9 game look-see while Hall heals (Hall’s trying to return quickly, we’ll see how that goes).

Forbort/Carlo does not strike me as a pairing that can run Montgomery’s transition game. But they’ll thump.

Nice sequence. Zboril gets on his horse, gets back for the puck, wards off the wing, strong transition pass. Result? Gets it to Zacha pasta Krecji who play tic tac toe and get a goal.

Pasta hitting those 1 timers this early is a good sign. It usually takes a couple weeks to get that going. At least it did last season.

it is so fun to watch their creativity. Hall has got to be ticked off that he got hurt in a preseason game. Pasta and Krecji look silky smooth and Zacha is a nice complementary piece.

That stretch pass across ice from Forbort to Zacha surprised me.

I’m sure Hall would be perfectly happy playing with Bergeron.

No doubt!

At some point the music will stop and someone will end up on Coyle‘s line.

Pleased to see Studnicka and Debrusk on PK (as well as Zboril and Stralman). Opens up the possibility that Nosek is no longer essential personnel (Although Lefty face off still has value).

I'm pretty okay with Coyle on the 3rd line, esp if they can give him some skaters/finishers. We shall see u suppose

If Bergeron-Hall-DeBrusk works, I wouldn’t mind them trying Marchand with Coyle. He can drive that line and be a nightmare matchup for opponents 3rd lines and bottom pair D’s.

if The new coach is willing to mix it up this would be a great way to break Marchand back in. If Smith gets on one of his hot streaks that could be a killer 3rd line dominating zone time.

I know that they can’t keep all six LDs but man I’d like to see what a healthy Reilly could do on the 3rd pair (As long as Zboril gets ice time too). Forbort looked decent tonight but I prefer Reilly.

Completely agree, but someone is going to have to get traded to make the cap work when Marchand, McAvoy, and Grzelcyk back, and no one is taking Foligno without a 1st stapled to him. Reilly (or Smith) are guys that they could possibly move for a mid round pick and not have to retain money.

Just watched highlights but how does LeFreniere get to relieve Swayman of his stick while in the crease? The goal obviously stood, but did anybody comment on that during the telecast? Looked like clearcut interference on replay.

I think that is one that definitely would have been extensively reviewed had this game counted.

Even if this would make logical sense, we only have so many games left of Marchand - Bergeron playing together. Their 11+ year run playing on the same line together is unreal and I want to soak up every minute possible.

Lot of positives to take away from tonight.

What happened to B’s v D’s tonight? Is my page not loading or did no one comment on preseason hockey, this evening?
Nobody commented evidently.

Lots of mistakes, bottom 6 had a ton of coverage issues. Studnicka looked pretty good though IMO. Zboril definitely had a rough game, don't see what Fredrick does well that warrants a roster spot. Greer looked like a JAG against an actual NHL lineup as expected. Pasta/Krejci/Zacha looked good again. They dominated the Face-off dot all game. Ully looked fine, got hung out to dry a bunch.

Just my thoughts although I admit I was distracted with family stuff during the game so definitely possible I missed some things or I'm off on my analysis a bit as well.

Yep. Watched highlights and Zboril had kind of an ugly moment there at the end. Hughes went through Clifton like hot butter, earlier, and Forbort got caught below the goal line while an easy rebound was netted from his side of the ice - I took away from all this that the D-corps are very much a work in progress, at this point.

“Taylor Hall says he’s on track to play on Wednesday” (Matt Porter twitter)

Giddy Up. A legitimate top 6, with Marchand showing up in a couple of months to spread the wealth.
