As our spoiled fan base(admit it) prepare for another possible title, what do you think are the greatest comebacks in Boston sports playoff history in one game, not an entire series?
1. Super Bowl 51 Feb. 5th 2017. Has to be. Down 28-3 early in the third quarter, 28-9 at the beginning of the 4th. Just an unbelievable shock.
2. Bruins-Maple Leafs. May 13th 2013,Game 7 opening round. Down 4-1 in the 3rd, and were looking dead as a door nail. Won 5-4 in OT, Thank You again Patrice Bergeron. Hockey is much harder late in a game to come back. Basketball has the shot clock and comebacks happen so much. Baseball has no clock.
3. Celtics-Nets, May 25th 2002 Game 3 Eastern Finals. Down 24 midway through the 3rd quarter. Down 21 at the start of the 4th. Amazing defense and comeback by Celts. The reason I put this one above the Lakers-Celtics 2008 game 4 comeback is in that game they were down by 22 or 24 early but had 3 quarters to come back. The 2002 team didn't have that kind of time.
4. Red Sox-Rays Game 5 2008 ALCS. Down 7 zip entering the bottom of the 7th. Cut it to 7-4. Entering the bottom of the 8th. Tie it in the 8th, then win it in the bottom of the 9th. Boy was J.D. Drew clutch for us.
4 tie Celtics-Lakers Game 4 2008 NBA Finals. Celts down 21at the end of the 1st quarter and 18 at the half. They cut the lead to 2 at the start of the 4th and you could see the fear in the Lakers eyes. Won 97-91, James Posey and Eddie House helped us win it with huge baskets coming off the bench. I don't put this one as high as Celtic-Nets 02 because of how close it was at the end of 3 quarters.

1. 2004 ALCS, down 3-0 and down a run in the 9th with the hammer of God, Mariano Rivera, on the mound.

Yeah, an opening poll on this topic w/o the 2004 ALCS is, shall we say, lacking in authenticity

Super Bowl 51 is first in my book, but this deserves mention:

Super Bowl 49 is about third. Celtics-Sixers 1981 Games 5 & 6.

LOL @ Game 6 1975 WS not being rated above a divisional round game against the Nets.

Edit: Game 8 1912 WS should be on the list. Game 5 1986 ALCS.

Sorry forgot the others.
5. Red Sox-Tigers. Game 2 2013 ALCS. Sox down 5-1 entering the 8th. The Tigers had the best pitching staff in baseball that year no doubt. What was Jim Leyland thinking??? Keep the lefty(Alburqurque I think) in to face Ortiz! Don't bring in the righty closer in facing one of the greatest clutch hitters of all time. Sox win 5-4 in the 9th to ties series 1-1.
6. Red Sox-Angels ALCS Game 5. Might be my all time favorite Red Sox game next to Game 4 2004 WS and Game 7 2004 ALCS. Angels are ready to celebrate standing on top of the dugout. Reggie was already hugging Gene Mauch but he wanted no part of it(He had some past playoff failures and a blown pennant race) Don Baylor hits a huge 2 run HR to cut it to one. Gary Lucas comes in and hits Gedman(Who went 4 for 4). That was huge!!!! Then Donnie Moore comes to face Hendu and the rest is history. Angels nearly win it, but Steve Crawford came up big as did Schiraldi. Don Baylor's HR is never mentioned as much as Henderson's. And they're both gone RIP. Sox win 7-6 on a sac fly by Hendu and they take the series in 7.

I'm sure there are others that I might have forgotten but let me know. Hon. mention I could say Game 6 75 WS, Carbo and Fisk. Super Bowl 49 against the Seahawks. And i think a good one was Game 6 against the Sixers in Philly 1981 Eastern Finals. I think they were down 18 or 16 in 3rd or maybe the 2nd. And game 4 1984 Finals against the Lakers. I think they were down 16 in the 2nd and not looking good. But today in the NBA that would be nothing.

Love it to death but it was only one run. Coming back from 3 to 0 is our greatest full series comeback obviously. It seems also that when we were down 3 to 1 to the Indians in 07 there was no panic. We weren't shocked they came back.

I love all my Boston teams. Baseball is my favorite but I am showing no bias towards any team or sport. Looked at it with total objectivity. I didn't base it on what team or how good the playoff series was. I did it by how many points or runs they were down by.

Neither the thread title or the introductory post specify it has to be one game.

You fail

It's easier to come back down a bunch of points in one game than to come back in one game and also win 3 more games straight. 2004 was all time amazing. 28-3 is a close second.

Games 5, 6, and 7 all started at 0-0.

I didn’t don’t want to say anything to exacerbate things by bringing it up once I saw it there before the game...

But I blame this thread.
