I get it if people want to return to engaging in wild, unfounded speculation like we had earlier in the thread - a poster comes up with the version of events they are sure happened despite no information and people go down that rabbit hole. People in the league may even buy what the media is selling today too. However its a discussion devoid of facts.
Speculating about what happened and discussing the reactions of those who have the ability to influence the broader perception of the punishment are two separate things.

Its engaging in the instant gratification of having an opinion. Again, the problem is that these takes are air-based.

League and public perception are absolutely important. However we know these things will change with the fullness of time.

Meanwhile SAS and the other talking heads will be on to another story and all of their discussion worthy views will be long forgotten.

But today, unlike other weekdays, SAS has some folks big mad. That's factual at least.

This all puts an even finer point on the team wide collapse after game 3. Up 2-1, it sure looked like the Cs were the better, more athletic, longer team. And then everyone sucked ass for the rest of the series. Or nearly everyone. Including, ironically, Udoka, who arguably failed to make adjustments and get the most out of his team, and who watched the offense totally bog down without coaxing them out of it.

But it was mostly OK, as they were (and still are) young, and would likely sign or trade for players who would fill in the gaps, and be a long term contender.

Fast forward a short amount of time and Ime is gone (possibly forever), one of the two reinforcements is gone (likely for the season), a $17.1 mm trade exception was not used, we don't know if the core will embrace Mazulla (though I bet they will), Robert Williams (who appears to be made of glass) has undergone a surgery late in the off season, and we don't know if how the situation was handled by the team will affect any or all of the core.

Oh, and the Cavs have made some strong moves, as have the Sixers and Bucks.

It's foolish to write this Cs core off, but it's perhaps a bit more difficult to see them getting back to the Finals next season. True, it's not nearly impossible, and there's plenty of reasons why they might. But for me at least, the failure against the Warriors hurts a little more today.

This situation will absolutely be added to the "Boston Celtics What If" pantheon along with Bias, Reggie, KG's knee, Hayward, etc. if this team doesn't get over the finish line. I'm not sure the Celtics' title hopes have materially declined as a result of this but, shit, we've had a lot of bad news to start the season with Gallinari, TL's knee, and now this. But, you still have a ton to be excited about with this team. Tatum and Jaylen are getting closer to their primes, we get a full season of White, Brogdon could be a huge addition to the bench (but needs to stay healthy), we might have something in Davison, etc. Could be a rocky start to the season like last year but they should be heavily in the mix when the games start mattering in the spring.

Did Barnes seriously record that video while driving? That seems really dumb.

Brad saying the word 'bullshit' out loud was jarring. Never seen/heard him like that before.
I'm still unclear how they landed on suspension and not firing and how/what Ime could do to get his job back after the year.
SAS hung a lot of hats on the consensual aspect. Who called Matt Barnes?

My guess is that JB and JT are gone. I'd put Jimmy Fund dollars on it. Who wants to put up with this shit?

Clippers? LA? Dallas?

He's pretty plugged in. I do wonder who told him the deets though.
I'm sure it was a Celtics player. And if so, I wouldn't worry one bit about anyone on the team suddenly asking to be traded if this is the sentiment in the locker room. Whatever Ime did, it sure sounds like the players know it was pretty terrible.

So Barnes played in the league forever, knows everyone and has a showtime podcast with Stephen Jackson. When this first broke he criticized the Celtics for firing Ime, so him noting that someone reached out with details and it was way worse than what he thought is telling.

Yeah someone must be pretty close to him to care how Barnes came off in those comments and let him know what's going on. Then he can make the decision to back Ime or not after that.

All The Smoke is a top rated NBA pod. And Barnes seems well liked across the league. Its not a stretch for him to have the details, if he in fact has them.
I'd also say, that it was a follow-up/backtrack of previous comments tells me somebody in the know that likes him reached out to him and said "yeah man, you might want to back off that cause if details leak you'll look bad"

TMZ has way better journalistic standards than Woj or Chams
TMZ are scum.... but they are rarely ill-informed scum, awful tactics and editorial decision making, excellent at getting accurate info before anyone else.

I would guess they landed there over money.

If they fire him, gotta pay that contract off. Or if you try and not pay out, end up in litigation over it.

I'd assume they're haggling with Ime over how much money he'll settle for to walk away.

I can't imagine a scenario where he's actually back next season.

No argument on the bolded, but they lock their stories down before posting anything. Mainly because of the bolded I guess. Because if you're going full trash-diving gossip, you better make sure your sources are legit.

yeah that was my point, they're bottom feeders who don't think twice about things like paying cops for pictures of dead bodies, or bribing employees to spy on customers, but they don't want to get sued into oblivion so they always make sure they have a solid amount of proof/reason to believe before they publish.

Here
True. They may look bad when it’s all said and done, but they definitely got the jump on the narrative if they leaked that portrayal.
Shams is truly awful. He’ll type whatever someone says and report it as unqualified fact without vetting a thing.

The back of your computer
Anna Horford recanted her tweets, Matt Barnes recanted his vid from last night. Have to think they now have the details, and that the facts are very bad for Ime.
